What is Happiness? Happiness is not as simple as it may seem, there are so many ways to achieve happiness, but nobody seems to really put those ‘ways’ into effect. Happiness is being satisfied with life, having accomplished goals, and working hard to achieve acceptable health and lifestyle. Most people hope for the freedom to follow their own aspirations without obstacles, but is it truly that easy?
Now, to be satisfied with life seems somewhat impossible to most because of the way they have learned to live. “The pursuit of happiness is not some flutty nice-to-have or middle-class luxury; it’s about helping people to live better lives and create a society that is more productive, healthy, and cohesive” (Williamson 4). This helps support my claim by explaining how helping others and the community one lives in, impacts their happiness as well as the people around them. When they are in a competent environment, it affects their lives-positively- in that certain area.

“Happiness is derived from pursuing meaningful and challenging goals- instead of pursuing someone else’s antiquated idea of happiness” (LeVan 2). This backs up my claim by providing a point about people pursuing their own dreams, not others, to achieve happiness. Also, completing a goal for one’s self not only causes happiness, but will spread happiness to others that may need it. So while it is okay to make others content, it is most important to first realise what they have to do to attain happiness for
In the world, people are wired to hunt for happiness, but what they are really deeming for is satisfaction. Happiness and satisfaction are similar, but not the completely the same. Satisfaction is the content feeling you get after a big meal or taking a long nap on a Sunday afternoon, while happiness is a chosen factor that can only be achieved through willpower. Many try and search the external world for the happiness that lies within. Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy, and when he realizes he is not, he turns to knowledge to find it (Bradbury 10).
Happiness is a key to everybodys life. Even the most depressed man on earth has a little happiness deep down inside. Its what keeps us striving to fulfil our needs and wants on an everyday basis. There is not one kid who does not get excited over a dollar to spend at the candy shop. What about the feeling of getting a promotion at your job, or even finding the cure for cancer. Being happy is not just healthy, but it is also rewarding for each and every individual. We strive to find anything that will turn a bad day to a good one. Individuals will compromise to attain their happiness. You can not get what you want without giving something first.
Happiness has always been a desirable goal throughout our lives, but each actions we take might just affect the happiness of others. When humans seek happiness, we always seek for things that make us feel alive, or things that brings us the greatest comfort. Our contentment comes with the act of selfishness since we choose to prioritize our happiness above all other. We willingly classify happiness in two different types of meaning, both physical and mental happiness. People ought not be in title to happiness because it is classified in general as a physical desire by many people. Contentment is always known to be a physical satisfaction in life instead of a self-inducing satisfaction for life.
Using philosopher John Mills’s meaning, “Those only are happy who have their minds fixed on some object other than their own happiness; on the happiness of others,"(McMahon P.11;S.1) which means that the only way one can be happy is by putting forth their attention to the happiness of others, and not themselves. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Compassion makes people contented. Giving to others could increase our prosperity more than spending money on ourselves. Giving is the key to
Have you ever looked for happiness? Or do you know anyone who is searching for happiness? In the story “Macbeth”, Macbeth was able to become a king for his own happiness with greed but he never became happy. In the article “Unequal, Yet Happy”, the article explains that wealthier countries are not happier than poorer countries. So wealth does not necessarily bring happiness. In the video “Chris of Apricot Lane Farms”, Chris explains that although he was born without arms and legs, he was full of happiness because he accepts himself the way he is. So people can get happiness by accepting themselves the way they are.
Happiness, a complicated nine letter word. Many have sought to narrow down the definition of happiness, but have found it a difficult task to do. As I started researching the word happiness I found that happiness lies in the eye of the beholder; everyone has their own definition. Influencing the human body mentally, emotionally, and physically happiness has strong attributes; not just on ones’ feelings but on their overall well-being.
It is a common thought that happiness is key to a successful life, and many try to find out how to achieve the
If this were the case, people would be dazed and confused as to why the road to happiness is tough and why they still have not found it. Setting happiness as life’s objective leads the individual off the beaten path and set the individual further back than where they started. The only solution to a person’s craving for happiness, is not to dig around for happiness itself but to scour for individual fulfillment. What separates the road to happiness and the road to fulfillment, is that by the end of reaching fulfillment, you are left with a plethora of reward. What comes with fulfillment is happiness, success, and
Achieving long-term personal happiness is possible with hard work and perseverance by using several methods. Understanding and following various steps to have fulfillment can change your life. By consistently following an assortment of important steps, you will develop a life pattern that is generally happy. Many people throughout history have attempted to find ways to become happier, and share the information with others. While there are occasionally things that should make a person unhappy, it is important to not allow unhappiness to become a lifelong pattern that destroys you mentally and physically. In addition, happy people tend to have more friends and success because they are fun to associate with.
Everybody wants to be happy. Parents want their children to have a happy childhood and a happy life, people wish newlyweds a happy married life, and when someone passes on, they say, “S/he had a happy life,” as if that is comforting to those who are already missing the person and who are very unhappy. Why is happiness so important to people? Perhaps it is because humans are competitive by nature and one person exaggerates his/her happiness so that others are envious. Maybe it is because humans like to be distracted by a story and if they can believe someone actually achieves perfect happiness, then they can hold out hope for themselves. What is happiness exactly? No one knows because everyone defines it differently. In general though, happiness is an overall feeling of pleasure and satisfaction. If that is the case, then happiness seems easy enough to achieve, but whether humans are actually capable of realizing they are in the state of happiness though is another issue.
But in this debate, one question still raises its head - What is happiness? Happiness is not actually leading a luxurious life, but the luxury of living a life. Happiness is not actually about expanding your business, but it lies in expanding the horizons of life. Happiness is not having a meal in the most famous restaurant, but having it with your most beloved family. It does not lie in attending honorable parties, but to attend a party with honor.
In “Happiness and Success”, Laura Huckabee-Jennings explains how achieving success and materialistic possessions have nothing to do with happiness. People may be able to accomplish a goal and be successful, they become happy, but that is not happiness. The moment when people become happy about the goal they just overcame, they will be feeling temporary happiness, therefore they won’t be happy for long. People will begin to look for more goals to overcome in order to feel the euphoria. Happiness is an ongoing state of mind according to Huckabee-Jennings, one creates the state of mind and anyone can create happiness in any kind of situation good or bad. Achievements and success will only be an addiction for over-achievers and they’ll continue to look for goals in order to feel happy. Until people make achievements part of their core-values, happiness will be built into peoples achievements.Anyone who naturally attracts people can attract success because of their happiness.
Happiness has to begin within you, and by having solid beliefs and values that you don’t compromise builds a foundation to have your happiness on. Stick true to yourself and who you are, and if something is against your values don’t do it. You cannot ever
How could I promote happiness? Of course by beginning with myself. The saying, “10 percent is what happens to us and 90 percent is how we react with it” is one of my favorite. I may not be able to control what will happen to me, but surely, I always have the power over my emotions. In every circumstance, whether it may be good or bad, I must always keep those smiles plastered in my face. I must be thankful to God in whatever things happen for I know He’s always in control of everything.
Happiness is a feeling that cannot be broken if strong enough, no matter how much sadness or hate is around you. Happiness can come from the smallest thing, for instance, music makes me happy and can easily change my mood, or when I am doing something I love my mood is easily changed. For others it could be whenever you do something well, or right and get recognition for it. It is the easiest feeling to be spread and given out but often neglected and forgotten about which is something we should all be more aware
