License Plate Significance Essay JIAFILMS is an irregular license plate name. You might be pondering what is the meaning of this name? Obviously, it's my last name with “films” at the end. Other than that, this tale begins, 4 years ago, with three girls. Their names were Kaylee Yu, Jennifer Jia, and Jacquelin Jia. These girls were inseparable, although they lived 30 minutes apart. One day, they were playing with Kitty; Kaylee’s dog (yes the dog’s name is Kitty) outside in a garden, they were bored like always, then suddenly, Kaylee had a suggestion. She suggested, “we could pass the time by filming a random movie?” It was a peculiar and insane idea. Nonetheless, it was harmless and fun and they were only doing it to have time fly by right?
From the lavish mansions of Hollywood stars to the cigarette smoke filled offices of broke screenwriters, the 1950 noir movie Sunset Boulevard remains a timeless classic with a stunning story of an actress gone mad, and a screenwriter just trying to squeak by. This film is the first pre-1960’s flick that has left me with a feeling of awe. The first word that comes to mind after the credits begin to roll is just“wow!”. I was struck by the intriguing plotline and brilliant execution of the story. Not only is the film a classic for its gripping story, and twisted power dynamics, it also shows amazing camera work and brilliant acting.

It is a common mis-conception that films are merely entertainment, and serve no other purpose than to provide for the viewer a two-hour escape from reality. This is a serious under-estimation of the power, purpose, and potential of film, because film, upon reflection, revea...
Why would someone need to seek psychotherapy? Which type of therapist do we seek out? Each culture has different needs and those also need to be taken into account when choosing a therapist and the culture we will be discussing in the following pages is a branch of Orthodox Judaism called Hasidic Judaism. We will be investigating psychodynamic, cognitive, gestalt, and client centered therapists, and explaining which of these would be the best choice to help our demographic feel like themselves again. “Speaking of the effects of specific forms of therapy, we need to address the question of which form of therapy is most effective for which type of problem” (Nevid & Rathis p.323).
Often times people neglect the fact that the things- such as films- that they see and hear day to day can actually be worthwhile in teaching them. They come into contact with them purely for the purpose of being entertained and, sometimes, do not even realize that they are being taught valuable life lessons in the process. In conjunction with this theory, Professor Michael Taylor once said, “We don’t often think of the value of media beyond its entertainment, but there is a whole area that has to do with education through entertainment. As filmmakers, the work that we do has a huge impact on our culture. With that comes an opportunity, and may be even a responsibility, to use that impact for greater good.” Many French and Francophone films
The origin of the word myth seems to be a myth in itself. Myths have generally originated from a Greek history that used an oral tradition to explain events that occurred before the written word. Often supernatural beings or fictitious characters were used to explain popular ideas concerning phenomena's of nature or the history of people. The myths that were carried on from generation to generation were often very imaginative in an attempt to spark the interest of young listeners. These would be told at social gatherings. The main purpose of a myth was to relay historical information among groups. Early myths often dealt with the origin of man, customs, religious rights, incidents involving the lives of gods, stories of culture heroes, adaptations of old world myths, or the retelling of biblical stories.
What is art? Art and perception are deeply interrelated, since our ability to experience and comprehend artistic works is strongly biased by our own perceptions. Accordingly, any definition of art should emphasize the importance of perception in creating and experiencing art. Yet, each person has his or her own opinion of every artistic work, biased by his or her own perceptions, causing each person to define art as a whole in his or her own subjective manner. Hence, in my opinion it is impossible to create an objective definition of art, if art is something that each person perceives and experiences in a wholly subjective manner.
In my mind the word discipline can mean so many different things. It’s actually quite hard for me to explain exactly what it means. If I were to look the word up in Webster’s dictionary it might say that discipline “is control that is gained by requiring that rules or orders be obeyed and punishing bad behavior. I somewhat agree with that definition. As a prior soldier I most definitely respect rules and order. I know that my life and the lives of others I served with relied heavily on discipline. I think that when most men think of the word discipline a few images come to their minds. Some men think of R. Lee Ermey the Drill Instructor in Full Metal Jacket. Some men think of Vince Lombardi the Super Bowl winning coach. I often think of these tough in your face men with larger than life personalities. I also think of other men like Frederick Douglass, Thomas Edison, Clarence Thomas, Ronald Reagan,

Through most of the characters’ passion for filmmaking, this movie teaches the audience the great significance of film history. Many people in modern day tend to take film and its history for granted, but they do not realize the depth and effort that mankind has put into such a development. In Hugo, the theme of film history revolves around the entire production, and the audience sees flashbacks of Georges Méliès’ past that reveal his vital role in movie-making. By investing a deep meaning to the tale, viewers start to understand the great emotional and intellectual characteristics of movies. Additionally, Hugo himself delivers a message to his counterpart characters, which also serves as a lesson for the onlookers. He shows the audience that everyone has a part and purpose in this world. Protagonist Hugo Cabret says that “everything has a purpose, even machines. Clocks tell the time, trains take you places. They do what they’re meant to do.” Voicing through Hugo, the filmmakers illustrate how every individual has a reason to live and discover their calling. With a statement about the forgotten grandeur of film history and a valuable message to the crowd regarding one’s purpose, Hugo inspires and presents itself as a noteworthy and unforgettable

There are few questions quite as esoteric or as futilely subjective as the philosopher's "What is…?" Yet posing and answering this question in reference to the identity of art is critical to further discussions of our subject matter in this course. There is no way for us to discuss art until we have a working definition of what art is; we can't adequately use the term until we've defined it. To this end, I would like to submit this as a working definition: "Art is anything created for the purpose of communicating the sensations of emotional response to, or creating emotional response in, those who experience it."
India is one of the world’s largest automobile industries; it’s in fact the second fastest growing automobile market in the world after China. India is now focusing in the production of small cars, in which they are building a reputation in designing and manufacturing ultra low cost cars. It is important to highlight that international business such as Hyundai and Nissan have invested in plants in Chennai, India. These two businesses are showing how efficient their production and logistics functions can improve their business’s competitive position by lowering the costs. Lowering costs is the main reason why these two firms have invested in India. The same has happened to many other industries in other areas not just the automotive, there are many reasons why India is so attractive to foreign industries, which it will be explained later in this text.
The definition of home to me means a place that I feel safe and loved. Home should feel warm and comfortable to just be yourself and you won’t have to worry about what other people think. Other people's definition of a home might not be the same as mine than can be much worse than mine so I cherish the home I have and never take it for granted.
