Recommended: What is Home
The definition of home to me means a place that I feel safe and loved. Home should feel warm and comfortable to just be yourself and you won’t have to worry about what other people think. Other people's definition of a home might not be the same as mine than can be much worse than mine so I cherish the home I have and never take it for granted. When I go home from school or a long trip away it makes me feel better that I am back at home because I feel safe from all the problems that I am facing. At home, I remember all the great memories that happened in my life such as all the holidays, birthday‘s, and hanging out with my family. My home is really two because I mainly live with my Grandma and Grandpa doing the week and I go to my Mom
What is home? Home does not necessarily have to be a specific place it could also be a place that you feel safe or comfortable in. From the early 1500s to the late 1900s, Britain used its superior naval, technological, and economic power to colonize and control territories worldwide which affected how most of these people's thoughts on what home is. In “Back to My Own Country” this story is about a girl that moved to london at a young age and was forced to change her morals and beliefs to try and seem less than an outsider to the community. The second story “Shooting an Elephant” is about orwell, a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein who was hated by large numbers of people and didn't feel welcome where he was and later was forced
A home is a place where one lives. In The Odyssey, home is a physical place where one dwells. For Odysseus, his dwelling was in Ithaca, it is where he resides and where the people he cares for work and live. His home is a physical place where he has always lived. In Monkey, home is not where the companions were born or raised, but it is where they end up.
Through films such as West Side Story and Rent, we understand that the notion of home is not constant. Rather than home being the physical place, it is instead the comfort derived from the select few individuals who are like-minded and supportive. Through struggles and heartbreaks, the most reliable home is the people in our lives who are closest to us.
The definition of home is: the place where one lives permanently. Home is a place where one feels accepted, loved, and comfortable enough to be themselves completely. In Nella Larsen’s “Quicksand”, main character Helga is a bi-racial woman in the 1920’s who struggles internally with where she feels she belongs and where she can call home. Throughout the entire novel Helga moves to many different places to try and feel at home. In the society that Helga is cursed to have to live in, biracial people are not common and rarely accepted in many communities. Personally I don’t feel like Helga would have ever found a place to call her real home, using the definition where home is a permanent place to comfortably live, where she would chose to stay
Webster's College Dictionary defines home as: An environment offering security and happiness" and "a valued place regarded as refuge or place of origin." Anyone can build a house but the emotional security a home provides is created by the people who live there. In Homer's Odyssey, the Greek hero Odysseus leaves his home in Ithica to fight in the Trojan war. The Odyssey tells the story of his treacherous journey back to Ithica, and the turmoil he experiences. Due to his strong desire to return to the place he remembered as home, Odysseus endurs the hardships of his journey. He hopes his homecoming will return him to the same home, and same life he built twenty years ago. Odysseus will never truly return home because he is not the same king, husband, or man he once was; He is not capable of recreating the home he once had.
The Reconstruction-era was crucial to the development of freedmen and of the social structure in the south; however the Republicans were not successful in all aspects. There were various factors that impeded the success of guaranteed rights to freedmen and to a functional social structure that people in the south would comply with. There were amendments, black codes, reconstruction acts, racial organizations, and many more difficulties that denied freedmen their rights and a working social structure for the southerners.

Almost every minivan has the stick-figure family in the bottom left corner on the back window that shows their family. Yet, it seems that every family consist of a father, mother, kids, and maybe a pet or two. One virtually never sees any variation of a ‘family’. The two men with the adopted daughter, the single mother with a handful of kids, and the lone college student with her dog. An image of a family is limited in the current mindset; it is the average family that is seen when the term is spoken, never the true form of family. The idea of what a family is can be wildly debated and may never come to a true agreement, yet the answer lies in front of each individual, if only they are willing to open their mind and grasp the concept. The definition of family is as
Home is a term that is used throughout the world as the place where one lives.
Freedom and justice are just some of the minor things we look at when defining an American. We always focus Americans as these freedom hungry people and that's it, but that's not it we are much more than just freedom. We are these wonderful people who innovate, believe, and perspire to do the best and be the best they can be. The world has many positive and negative outlooks on what an American means. Americans are fighters who don’t let things go. We are all equal and put together to be one nation. The three main things that define an American is having freedom, living in America under one nation, and our rights we receive.
There are few questions quite as esoteric or as futilely subjective as the philosopher's "What is…?" Yet posing and answering this question in reference to the identity of art is critical to further discussions of our subject matter in this course. There is no way for us to discuss art until we have a working definition of what art is; we can't adequately use the term until we've defined it. To this end, I would like to submit this as a working definition: "Art is anything created for the purpose of communicating the sensations of emotional response to, or creating emotional response in, those who experience it."
People and life are constantly changing, people come in and out of your life, but your family will always remain present in your life. They are the ones who will never leave you. Though the Webster’s dictionary considers family as "the basic unit of society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children” (Webster). Family is the biggest part of an individual’s life. Families tend to each other’s needs and we create a bond with our family that will never be breakable. Family values should be treasured and remembered. No one could love you more than your family does; the best love is from your family. They will never let you stand alone and will always stand beside you and help you get through any obstacle.
“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends (Robot check).” A place becomes a home for me when I am around all the things that I enjoy and love. For example, when I am around everyone that I love, I enjoy a peaceful environment and the beautiful landscapes around me. The interpretation of home for me is not a physical thing that I see or that I can remember or even certain thoughts that I can relate, but it is a sensation that overcomes me when I envision being in the comfort of my own home. However, I know that this is a feeling that is calming to my soul and it quietly reassures me that I genuinely belong in a place where I can be free from people constantly judging me.
