If the person that is supposed to save your life uses a morally questionable means to do so, are they still a super hero? This description better defines an anti-hero. Action movies tend to have a very predictable set of characters. You’re quickly able to identify the villain while expecting the super hero to orchestrate a plan to impede their sinister plot. Deadpool is a movie that manages to keep you on the edge of your seat with continuous action sequences. However, you are left rooting for a generally immoral figure. Efficacious movies are often centered on character building while still providing consistent entertainment. Deadpool creates an exceptional balance of creative punch lines throughout the movie. Swearing and childish name calling finds its place in well-timed sequences. Categorizing this movie into either an action or comedy genre is nearly impossible. Deadpool incorporates other anti-heroes like Wolverine by saying that in exchange for sexual favors, he was able to get his own movie. He also is found asking if the studio didn’t have enough money for any more X-Men. With every intense action scene, you will find that perverse comedy is readily littered. Deadpool is able to provide special effects that leave you to questioning their authenticity, in a positive light. They are able to create a slow motion fight scene that puts it a peg above the rest. Explosion scenes have you on the edge of your seat. There is a scene in which Deadpool is speared through the back with a metal rod into the burning building’s foundation. The engulfing flames are enough to leave you impressed with the effort put into each scene. Physical mutilation is a common theme in Deadpool. Deadpool is witnessed cutting off his own hand in order to escape a pair of handcuffs, which demonstrates the film makers’ skill level. A theme that you would think would bring along a feeling of disgust, but you often find yourself hysterically laughing.
