To skyjack. This means to hijack an airliner, in order to hold the passengers and plane for ransom. D.B. Cooper had committed the first successful skyjacking of an American airliner. This benefited in the conception of the Cooper vane, which helps prevent any hijackings of any aircraft. To this day, the Cooper vane continues to excel, while Cooper’s mystery is still unsolved. Because of previous clues and information, D.B. Cooper’s mystery can be concluded whether he died from his fall or if he survived and got away with it.
Particularly, the mystery of D.B. Cooper’s hijacking event, leads to many theories that leave people curious. On November 24, 1971, the Northwest Orient Airlines in Portland, Oregon encountered a well-dressed man in his mid forties around 2 PM, in which he was dressed in a dark raincoat, dark suit, black tie, and a white shirt, while carrying an attache case (Helena 1). In addition, during the take off of the flight, Cooper ordered a bourbon and a soda, and later announced that he was in the possession of a bomb (Wang 2). “The hijacker would blow up the Boeing 727 unless he received $200,000 in $20 dollar bills placed in a laundry sack, and four parachutes when the plane landed in Seattle” (Helena 2). Moreover, Cooper settled

with his plan and did the unimaginable, with winds blowing 70 miles per hour, in freezing rain, Cooper jumped in a mountainous area in southwest Washington that day (“D.B. Cooper” 2). Many people still question the choice Cooper made and all of the many theories that surround his case overall. Cooper’s action still remains one of the most intriguing events that has occurred, leading to his mysteries. All things considered, one of the theories hinting at Cooper’s case includes the idea of his possible death. The FBI has concluded the belief that Cooper was killed when he jumped out of the plane (Helena 7). After all, Cooper was without all of the equipment needed to jump, while it was dark and freezing outside. Cooper probably suffered head-over-heels, as soon as he hit the air at that speed (“D.B. Cooper” 2). In addition, “whatever Cooper would have hit down there, he would have hit hard,” Himmelsbach said, “Even if he’d just sprained his leg it’d be a death sentence in that kind of environment (“D.B. Cooper” 2). Some come to the idea that he has died during the fall, in facts of it being nighttime, while in an area of forests, lakes, canyons, and wild animals (Cunningham 2). Considering the details of Cooper’s jump, the popular theory has people believing that he did in fact dies during the incident. Based on the details surrounding this theory, and the minimal chances of his survival, this suspicion of his death remains a favored theory to most. In contrast, another recognized theory is the potential belief that he remained alive after the act.
Equally, “others believe that he survived the fall and got away with $200,000.” (Cunningham 2). Cooper’s luck of surviving the jump would be slim, if his parachute managed to work (“D.B. Cooper” 2). Based on the timing of this event, he might still be alive, but the majority of the subjects are already deceased (Seelye 2). Late March, they resumed the search for Cooper, but found no traces of Cooper or his belongings (Katz 4). These claims prove evidence to this case by stating some ideas of his chances of survival. Cooper’s likelihood to survive was small, but some continue to suppose he could’ve survived with the
money. In conclusion, D.B. Cooper’s mystery was completed with the two theories that he died during the fall out of the plane, and if he survived. Some come to believe that Cooper’s decision to jump was very life threatening and resulted in the death of himself. While others still count on the possibility of him surviving with $200,000. Either way, they both sum up the case and inform the reader of his actions, but it’s up to the world to decide what is believable to them. And they always say, “the past is an unsolved mystery, and the truth is a moving target” (picturequote.com).
On September 11, 2001, the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda hijacked four american airlines. “Two of the airlines crashed into the world trade center in New York The third plane crashed into the Pentagon outside the world trade center, and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania” (9/11 Attacks). They called it a suicide attack against United States, but there are conspiracy theories the the terrorist are still alive. That they stole
Jacob Lawrence’s’ painting, Brownstones, is a very energetic painting. This painting consists of children doing several activities such as jump roping, playing with a ball, walking their dog, and just chatting. There are a total of ten adults that is portrayed the painting; one couple is walking together closely showing the love they have for each other, another couple pushes their baby carriage, one lady is carrying her groceries to her place of living, and seven adults seat on the seat either enjoying a conversation or receiving fresh air. “Other couples and paired figures appear throughout the image” (“Jacob Lawrence: Exploring Stories”). “Lawrence also offered multiple views into the brownstone's open windows” (“"Brownstones" by Jacob Lawrence”). There were several conspiracies about the planes that attacked the Twin Towers. One of the planes left Boston's Logan Airport at 7:59 a.m. The hijackers zoomed the plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. The other plane left Logan Airport at 8:14 a.m. The hijackers flew the plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m. America had stated that 10 planes were suppose to be hijacked on that day. “Providing new details on the planning of the plot, the commission staff said that al-Qaida planner Khalid Shaihk Mohammed initially proposed a Sept. 11 attack involving 10 planes that would be used to attack CIA and FBI headquarters, unidentified nuclear plants and tall buildings in California and Washington state,” (Brunker). Both planes that flew into the Twin Towers were Boeing 767. The plane was 159 feet long. Another thing that seemed odd was that 9,700 gallons when it should usually have nothing less than 14,000 gallons. The engine was found on Murray Street when it should have been right around the Tower. Things were said about the plane being like a missile since the engine was dropped so far from the Towers. According to German TV footage, the planes front nozzle was caught on fire before going through the building. Conspiracy theories state that there were three things attached to the plan that were likely to explode. After the plane went into the building the plan some how exploded making it look like a missile went into the building or some how it was some sort of bomb. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, drew out the plane and the way the plane was flown into the Towers and it did not seem right. The plane propellers of the Boeing 757 were smaller than the hole it actuall...

For centuries, war has broken families and caused scarring both physical and mental. Consequently, the futility of war has been universally accepted and Bruce Dawes powerful poems ‘Weapons Training’ and ‘Homecoming’ reveal this. Dawe creates an Australian insight to the training and consequences of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was a long conflict Beginning in 1954 and ending in 1975. More than 3 million people were killed in the tragic War. Dawes ‘Weapons Training’ demonstrates the guidance of an abusive Sergeant whilst ‘Homecoming’ illustrates the shocking consequences and impact of war. Bruce Dawes powerful war poems, paired together, showcase a journey. One filled with harsh and vulgar training whilst the other proves that even training
The Process of Identification The eyewitness in this article, Mr. Gauci, was first questioned on 1 September 1989, about 9 months after the purchase, and was shown the clothing that was in the suitcase with the explosive in the plane. The shopkeeper recognized the pattern of the clothing and remembered there had been a man who came into the store sometime in the winter of 1988 and bought several pieces of clothing. He described the event and said that after the man was done shopping, he went out and opened an umbrella because it had been raining and then the shopper and the man took the things out to a taxi. Mr. Gauci mentioned how the man was about 6ft tall or more and spoke Libyan.

September 11, a turning point in the United States history. This event caused various negative impacts on the aviation industry. It changed the way airports and airlines organized themselves completely. The effect was so strong that it caused bankruptcies, people to lose their jobs, changes in how flights were made and flew, and security checking’s. This day also created fear and psychological issues on individuals concerning anything to do with flying on an airplane. In other words, this day was a catastrophe in the aviation industry in the US.
The investigation led to the arrest of a man that placed a bomb in his mothers’ luggage and was the beneficiary of his mother’s life insurance policy. Another inflight bombing would occur in 1960 where a National Airline’s flight exploded killing all 34 people on board and again in 1962 where a Continental Airline’s flight exploded killing 45 people on board. The increase and frequency of these bombings did not bring a significant change in the screening of passengers and their luggage it would take another fourteen years before the FAA under the control of the Federal Government to pass legislation that allowed for the screening of all passengers and their luggage. The central point that drove the 1974 Air Transportation Security Act was a combination of aircraft bombings and the start of aircraft hijackings. One of the first United States incidents involving a hijacked aircraft took place in Portland, Oregon on a scheduled route to Seattle, Washington in 1971. A man identified only as D.B. Cooper quietly took over control of a TWA Boeing 727 aircraft once it was airborne. He indicated to a flight attendant that he had a bomb in his briefcase and he intended to detonate if his demands were not met. The plane landed safely in Seattle and

Between 1940 and 1956, a profound killer known as the Mad Bomber disturbed New York City’s streets. For sixteen years, the Mad Bomber evaded New York City’s police officers and planted over thirty small bombs in public places. In 1956, the infuriated investigators decided to ask for the help of a psychiatrist, James Brussel. Brussel analyzed the notes and photos that were taken at the scene of the incidents. These objects allowed him to come up with a detailed description of the suspect: He would be in his 50’s, unmarried, self-educated, and foreign. He would also be paranoid and live in Connecticut. Brussel proposed that the suspect had a personal vendetta against the target of the first bomb, Con Edison.

The dramatic mystery furiously spread through various media sources, which caused people to panic and wonder what would come next. The media went crazy with different hypotheses that could have caused the mysterious blunder. In the article “Missing Malaysia plane: Co-pilot 'spoke last words'”, it talks about the conspiracies that people thought caused the disappearance immediately after they heard about the missing plane, and even recently, about a year after the crisis. The article says that the most popular conspiracy of the flight’s disappearance, besides crashing into the vast Indian Ocean, was that the flight was hijacked by terrorists. With the recent threat of Isis on the world, terrorism was a real possibility. Some believe that this could have been a failed “9/11” type terror attack. Stated in the article “MH370 'hijacked and in Afghanistan'” by Chris Richards, a Russian newspaper claimed that “Flight MH370 was hijacked by "unknown terrorists’” and forced to a remote land near Kandahar, Russia. While this hypothesis was not proven to be true, it was not proven to be false either, until the pings from the black box seemed to come from the Indian ocean (Richards). However, even with this evidence, the true explanation for Malaysia Flight 370’s disappearance remains a
