Abstract
This paper provides information on data and its importance in the speed of a computer and how it is stored. This paper gives examples of the different input as well as output forms for data. This paper also details the way that data effects memory in a computer as well as the different types of memory and data storage that a computer may have.
Data and its Importance in Accurate and Quick Processing
Data plays an important role for computers and how well they perform. The accuracy of data entry is very important in that if bad data or too much data is stored on a computer that the processing of that data is flawed and can significantly slow the computer's processing down. The storage of data is available in different mediums and how one stores ones data is of vast importance as well.
There are several ways that data can be input into the computer one of which is called Optical Data Reader. The Optical Data Reader can be used to input the information off of printed questionnaires. There are two categories of optical data readers; the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) and the Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Optical Mark Recognition is used when pencils are used to fill in boxes on Optical Mark Recognition paper or a mark sense forms such as is used in standardized tests like the SAT and the GMAT. Voice Recognition Devices are used to recognize human speech and are commonly used for telephone surveys, security systems that allow only authorized personnel and are now available in cars and trucks allowing the driver to activate the radio and CD players. Voice Recognition Devices will also respond to certain commands in an audible voice. Special software and microphones are used to record the sound of the human voice and convert it into digital signals. Another data entry method is used by financial institutions with the use of the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) device. Banks use them to process checks, loan applications and bank statements in order to reduce the time it took to manually read these types of documents and data more quickly. Bar code scanners are another form of data input used mostly by retailers. A laser scans the bar code label and transfers the data for easy and fast processing.
This memory is assists in allowing the computer to simultaneously read and write data at the same time. Simply put, RAM is the most common form of memory that is utilized by computers as well as other devices. There are specific types of RAM that include dynamic random access memory and static random access memory, or DRAM and SRAM respectively. These two RAM are very different in terms of how they allow data to be read and written. Dynamic random access memory is often considered the most frequent type found in computers. Static random access memory is also found in computer, and is usually referred to as the faster of the two types due to the fact that refreshing of this form of memory is not needed whereas with dynamic random access memory it is. The term RAM is often used to describe what the computer uses to function. It is the main memory or primary memory whereby all processes and software run. Since it is random access memory, it is only available at the time a certain process is needed and is not stored anywhere on the computer specifically (2007). This is what makes random access memory often confusing to understand particular since computers also have what is known as read only

A computer holds greater amounts of data, which for the investigator means that their analysis computers need to have sufficient processing power and available storage capacity to efficiently deal with searching and analysing large amounts of
This white paper identifies some of the considerations and techniques which can significantly improve the performance of the systems handling large amounts of data.
Currently the world has a wealth of data, stored all over the planet (the Internet and Web are prime examples), but it is needed to be understand that data. It has been stated that the amount of data doubles approximately
Many businesses, especially those related to information technology, view data as a preeminent asset. Some assets, such as physical property and equipment are more obvious, but those that are less noticeable can be of greater value, define an organization’s image and success, and offer a competitive advantage. Information is considered such an asset and the collection, maintenance, and update of this asset is critical to an organization’s short and long-term success. Having information that is accurate, dependable, and current is often essential in a business’s day-to-day operations. For example, many businesses directly linked to the financial sector depend upon accurate and current information in order to perform daily financial transactions relating to the financial assets of many clients. Other businesses must have timely data in order to make informed decisions and allow daily operations to perform with optimum efficiency. Regardless of the business, it is necessary to preserve the integrity of the data and possess data that is current or real-time.
Data acquisition is the process of copying data. For computer forensics, it’s the task of collecting digital evidence from electronic media. There are two types of data acquisition: static acquisitions and live acquisitions.

The computer has changed modern society, making calculations much quicker than any person could. It is used in almost every business because of its efficiency in holding substantial amounts of information.
With the growing demand for electronic documentation and paperless business solutions – there has been a significant growth in interest surrounding OCR technology. Unfortunately, despite its increase in popularity and numerous benefits to traditional scanning, many professionals are still left with the question - what is OCR?
The Von Neumann bottleneck is a limitation on material or data caused by the standard personal computer architecture. Earlier computers were fed programs and data for processing while they were running. Von Neumann created the idea behind the stored program computer, our current standard model. In the Von Neumann architecture, programs and data are detained or held in memory, the processor and memory are separate consequently data moves between the two. In that configuration, latency or dormancy is unavoidable. In recent years, processor speeds have increased considerably. Memory enhancements, in contrast, have mostly been in size or volume. This enhancement gives it the ability to store more data in less space; instead of focusing on transfer rates. As the speeds have increased, the processors now have spent an increasing amount of time idle, waiting for data to be fetched from the memory. All in all, No matter how fast or powerful a...
Computers are very complex and have many different uses. This makes for a very complex system of parts that work together to do what the user wants from the computer. The purpose of this paper is to explain a few main components of the computer. The components covered are going to be system units, Motherboards, Central Processing Units, and Memory. Many people are not familiar with these terms and their meaning. These components are commonly mistaken for one and other.
In designing a computer system, architects consider five major elements that make up the system's hardware: the arithmetic/logic unit, control unit, memory, input, and output. The arithmetic/logic unit performs arithmetic and compares numerical values. The control unit directs the operation of the computer by taking the user instructions and transforming them into electrical signals that the computer's circuitry can understand. The combination of the arithmetic/logic unit and the control unit is called the central processing unit (CPU). The memory stores instructions and data.
Computer is one of the greatest man made invention,. In short period since the "invention" of the computer, its impact on our lives has been felt in a variety of ways. From the work place to the home, the computer is rapidly becoming an indispensable tool. Our computer technology has been undergoing significant improvement over years. Modern technologies such as computers, cameras and mobile phones which are already on the market since early 20th century are not the same as its now. On every aspect, such as function and capabilities, it is the things that bring the development of computer and technology from 1980 to 2014.The word computer itself means an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form according to
The computer evolution has been an amazing one. There have been astonishing achievements in the computer industry, which dates back almost 2000 years. The earliest existence of the computer dates back to the first century, but the electronic computer has only been around for over a half-century. Throughout the last 40 years computers have changed drastically. They have greatly impacted the American lifestyle. A computer can be found in nearly every business and one out of every two households (Hall, 156). Our Society relies critically on computers for almost all of their daily operations and processes. Only once in a lifetime will a new invention like the computer come about.
