What is cyberbullying? Cyberbullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. Audrie lived to the age of 15 before she committed suicide due to cyberbullying. She found herself in a situation of underage drinking.(Bully Victims....). Audrie was raped. The teens then took pictures of Audrie during the attack, and posted it on the internet. For eight days she lived in fear until she finally decided that suicide was a way to escape. Cyberbullying has been linked to many student suicides. According to StopBullying.gov, about 28% of students in grades six through twelve have been a victim of bullying. If kids don't talk to their parents, how are they suppose to know what's going on until it is too late? Teens think that parents are out to ruin their lives and not let them have fun, but in reality they are just trying to protect us. Each and every parent would do anything for their child, and if that means hard work to get the rights that their child deserves, then they will do it. Why would you not want to have someone on your side rooting for you? Also, if more teens communicated with other teens face to face more often there would be less cyberbullying. Think about it, most drama in school involves "he said, she said", if students talked more openly to each other, the percentage of bullying would be lower. Let's say you confronted someone that was cyber bullying you, they would not pull out their phone and type something to you, they would be in your face right back.
