Cyber Monday impacted the use of media in the U.S. Online shopping has grown tremendously in the past years. More and more individuals are finding it easier to shop online than in stores because they have the luxury of doing so in their own home. Because of this, Online shopping boosted economic growth across the U.S and even in other foreign countries. According to “Cyber Monday, Green Monday and the impact worldwide” it states that, “Originally coined by Shop.org in 2005, “Cyber Monday” has inspired additional special shopping days that provide more discounts to shoppers and encourage consumers to continue working on their holiday gift lists” (Swerdlow, 2014). The outcome of sales influenced the success of the event. After Cyber Monday was …show more content…
Big clothing stores for adolescences like Forever 21 and Pacsun are opening up their shipping options to international shipping. This is due to the realization that the media is great way to spread their franchise. By expanding to international shipping, it gives shoppers out of the U.S a chance to purchase these clothes. Connecting this to the impact of Cyber Monday, stores are using this event as a way to put deals in front of the table. By implementing these yearly discounts, it will attract more costumers and help their sales so go up. Also stated in the article, “While Thanksgiving itself is largely unknown outside the U.S., special one- or two-day online shopping events are popping up in markets around the world as retailers recognize the value in galvanizing customers with special values and offers” (Swerdlow, 2014). Retailers began to recognize the influence of the media on shopping events, particularly Cyber Monday. In foreign countries like India and Brazil, sales have gone up to 56% from 2013. Consumers in the U.K expected an earning of 9.4 million sales on Cyber Monday (Swerdlow, …show more content…
Two of the biggest online shopping platforms are feeding off of the shopping holiday. By implementing this event into their business, it publicizes their products more. More and more figures are being released as time goes on because of the growing transactions they earned on Cyber Monday. The influence of Cyber Monday even spread in the grocery department. Now, online grocery shopping has taken its toll on the media. According to the USDA 88% of U.S households use their vehicles to buy groceries, driving an average 4 miles to the nearest store. “All these car trips result in carbon pollution: over 17 million metric tons of CO2 come from car tailpipes just from driving back and forth to the grocery store” (2018). This statistic connects to the impact that Cyber Monday has on the media. Because more online businesses are gaining sales from the the event, consumers figured that that the media platform is an efficient way to expand business. Grocery shopping, for instance, is the most frequent type of spending. Most of the time it is a vital that people need to do in order to get

It is seen in everything from the hoarding of material objects to the destruction of friendships, both of which are popular themes when regarding the topic of Black Friday shopping. Black Friday has become Black Thursday, a trend which has only shown up within the last decade. The great American holiday that is Thanksgiving is celebrated because of our gratefulness toward all that we have, a holiday that is meant to be spent gathered around a table of our loved ones. However, the retail holiday that consumes the day afterward has begun to overflow into our gatherings, and it is due to the greed of the American people. Were it not for the market’s demand for earlier sales, stores would not open their sales on Thursday nights. Everyone would simply wait until early the next morning to start off on their shopping extravaganzas, and the sales themselves would likely be far less violent as
Thanksgiving Day is a day of family, food, and giving thanks for the blessings in life and yet some people believe Thanksgiving to be a prep day for Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. The focus of Thanksgiving shifted from family bonding to incessant shopping. This trend of taking away from the hours of Thanksgiving in order to shop is enraging. It steals away from family time for the shoppers and the employees. Employers threaten workers that if they do not work on that certain holiday, they will be fired. Black Friday should be kept to Friday instead of moving in on my family time. The whole culture of Black Friday has become repugnant and unnecessary.
Key Issues The growing popularity of online retailing is attracting competition from traditional and online multi-retailers such as Wal-Mart and Amazon, which are gaining considerable market shares in many of the product segments included in the specialty retail sector. Currently, the majority of revenue is generated by store sales, but online sales from the stores’ websites are increasing. With the US dollar getting weaker, international sales from these US based websites are increasing too. This creates a significant positive outlook for the large incumbent players but also acts as a significant barrier of entry for new players.
Imagine having to work on thanksgiving. Not only do those people miss out on Black Friday, but also miss out on time with your family. They also get to go to work more than likely sleep deprived, deal with unpleasant customers, and constant lines. Curtis West worked as a Macy’s employee. In his 24 years of work for them he had to work a total of 19 Black Fridays. He said it wasn’t bad when Black Friday started off, because it usually meant going in at 5 am on Friday. Now for sto...
Holidays have always been known to affect our consumer culture for many years, but how it all began eludes many people and very few studies have been completed on it. Even though some say that the subject is too broad to precisely identify how holidays, especially Christmas, directly affect our market, I have found that people’s values, expectations and rituals related to holidays can cause an excessive amount of spending among our society. Most people are unaware that over the centuries holidays have become such a profitable time of year for industries that they now starting to promote gift ideas on an average of a month and a half ahead of actual holiday dates to meet consumer demands.

One of the greatest opportunities for Amazon is an Online Payment System. The online system allows the company to reduce transaction fees and increase ease of use for their customers. Internet sales are increasing at a fast pace. This is a product of increased fuel prices, which make driving to a store less likely, and foreign purchases. This development allows foreign purchases to buy clothing as it becomes more popular abroad. Amazon’s biggest competitors can include retail stores that online stores such as Target, Best Buy, and Walmart among others, these can be considered the most dangerous for them since they have strong market share and can be a direct competitor since they attack the same market. Amazon wish to compete in prices, offering
Customers are quick to fall into the category of “belonging” found in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. They feel as if in order to belong or to feel loved and respected by others they must try to attain what everyone else has or wants. This is especially true during the holiday season when people feel that what they buy reflects how they feel about the people they buy presents for. If you feel that you must purchase a certain present that you know will be out of stock and hard to find, you are better off shopping online or by mail. Shopping online and by mail is becoming the new wave of shopping and it is a smart, convenient, and timesaving process.

Online retail and shopping sales has been growing consistently every year, not just in the US but worldwide. Not only does online shopping give customers more convenience, more variety, and more discreetness but it also gives customers better prices. While it is quite true that Wal-Mart has product variety and cheap prices – things customers want – the physical stores do not really give the convenience and discreteness that online retail and shopping does.
There have been many things that have transformed our society today; one of those being online shopping. Online shopping began in 1979 and was invented by a man named Michael Aldrich. Michael invented online shopping to enable online transactions between consumers and businesses. Although shopping in stores has been the number one way for Americans to shop all of these years, shopping online has made a big impact on our culture by making advertising sway consumers through marketing, lead us to copy others, cause impulsive behavior, and succumb our moods.
About twenty-two anchor stores around the U.S. filed for bankruptcy and many of these are well-known to the public like JCPenney’s, Macy’s, Sears and many more. Many used to be afraid of entering any personal information into the web. After individuals became more comfortable, online shopping was the next trend that everybody wanted to try. Consumers began to change their habits of visiting the mall more than twice a month to grab necessities or even to look around stores and the products; to sitting at home staring at a computer screen shopping in all the online businesses that exist.
Crime is a common word that we hear in this era of globalization. Crimes refer to any violation of law or the commission of an act forbidden by law. A nation with high index of crime cases cannot grow or develop well. This is because crime is the direct opposite of development. It can contribute to the negative impact in term of social and economic development. Cyber crime is a new type of crime that occurs in this age of Science and Technology. There are multiple definitions for cyber crime. I will only give the most generic one, which will cover all the aspects. Cyber crime refers to all activities done with criminal intent in cyberspace. A Computer can be considered as a tool in cyber crime when the individual is the main target of cyber
The Internet is currently the third most shopped channel; brands are pushed to keep up with the trend of building an online shopping option for their consumers and this is evident through the increase in retailers offering online options for their consumers (Valerio). With solely digital stores like Net-A-Porter, Amazon and eBay, competition among digital stores and physical stores are tight. Retailers are pushed to keep up with the rise of digital shopping whether they want to or not. There are several retail implications with the rise of digital shopping, retailers are turning to multi-channel retai...
