So many musicians around the world, each telling stories of their past or something they love and turning it into a song for our ears to listen and enjoy to. Singers turning their habits to songs and their problems to lyrics, giving us a glimpse into their minds. So many songs that so many people relate to, feeling like they’re not alone and that they can finally match their emotions into words. For me i never seemed to relate to any musicians songs, that is until i heard Melanie Martinez’s Cry Baby album. Each song on that album related to me in some what way. Helped me connect to my emotions knowing their was other people just like me. There are 17 songs on that album and the way Melanie wrote and sang the words were perfect for all the emotions i felt. You could tell how much effort and love she put into the album making it even more amazing and beautiful to listen to. Though some people believe that Melanie is fetishizing things and actions, they just don't understand it. These songs were …show more content…
Potato Head because it talked about how we change our faces for people to like us. It talked about makeup and how we use it to hide our insecurities. I relate to this song so much because I have so many insecurities about my face and body. I went through a very bad acne phase and it brought me to a level of insecurity where I didn’t even want to leave the house. I used every makeup technique I could to cover my acne, using so many products. When people would see me they’d comment about how great my skin was not knowing that it took me an hour to cover it, still not feeling confident enough. It talked about how we can get surgery to change our faces to anyway we want and it’s true. You see it happen so much in this generation, people getting plastic surgery so that their face looks like models and celebrities. This song changed my view about makeup and surgery, allowing me to love the skin and body i am in and appreciate
This song became the perfect background for PSA's. Maybe, after all, there was more to this band than sexuality and drugs. This album has a bit of each of the necessary elements to become a hit. In fact, it has. much more than that.
...t of people around you. The images are really helped clarify what the singer really wants to talk about. Without the images in the video some many things could have been interpreted from the song itself. Before I watched the video I just thought the author was talking about war, and specially the wars America was fighting at the time of the song’s release. The music in combination with the instrumentals and video create a piece of art that enlightens the soul.
Whenever I play this song, I can’t help but remember my childhood. My parents struggled financially but, that was never an excuse for them. They always took my brothers and I out on small adventures. One of the most memorable memories I get when I play this song is when my parents would take us out to park to have a barbecue, while my brothers and I ran through the park till we became tired and hungry. Whenever I need a break from the world, I listen to this song just to remind myself of those special moments, even though those days won’t ever return, they are memories I will always treasure.
This song describes so many people at so many times in their lives. Music is one way of explaining how you feel especially if you have a hard time getting your feelings out to someone. Music speaks louder than words.
When artists go through an emotional down fall in there career’s you see some stars fall and other’s reflect to back when it all started to better themselves. As Katy Perry stated in her interview with U.S.A Today Prism is “less over-the-top and more “me””. I have come to realize that when artist put out an album, it isn’t just to see how many copies they can sell but it’s about making music with feelings, getting into there inner self and reaching out to those who admire them, the social text of the music is the heart of every song and the album altogether. A lot of the time artist will write about their emotions but never really behind the sense of what occurred. Here I will take two artists and break down there trails and show how they made them into triumphs through the context of there music. I will describe how these artist were able to create pieces of music that took over a particular emotion and were able to get it’s point across to the listener. These artists will be Katy Perry, and Britney Spears.
Artists write about what they know; they pull feelings from their heart and their songs relay what the artists’ emotions, whether it be of their hometown, their high school crush, or their experiences. Many artists that came to fame during the twentieth century have a fair share of experiences they share with us in the form of their songs. The twentieth century is comprised of the institution of slavery and its effects, war, gender norms, discrimination based on nationality, sex, race, etc., and countless events that sparked protests and uproars in the United States. Music at this time was a phenomenon, and artists could use it to their advantage. Artists used their music to spread awareness about their cause, influence their listeners, and
Singer, Songwriter Melanie Martinez has stated that in her hit album Cry Baby, almost all of her songs were loosely based off events that had occurred in her life, and were a fantastical reenactment of her childhood. All of the songs in her album have childhood related names, yet the meaning of her songs are far darker, referring to an unfaithful father, drunken mother, and some songs allude to kidnapping and possible sexual abuse. Each song in the album could be considered individual diary entries, giving insight to Martinez’ personality and how it influenced events throughout her childhood and early adulthood. Judging by the content of Martinez’ songs that are featured in Cry Baby, it could be assumed that her childhood was not particularly
Its effect on everyone who merely listened to the music on YouTube was profound and spread like wildfire, which brought even more people to enjoy the amazing sounds that many many souls worked for years upon years on. People who never had a taste for musical theatre soundtracks soon found themselves humming and listening to the tunes non-stop. Those in the theatre community who devour every new OBC Album heard about the show and fell in love without anything more than a mention of it. The message spoke the community of those who are depressed and have social anxiety or other such disorders. The main character is relatable on a deep level that everyone has somewhere- the space where self-doubt and disappointment thrives.
This song is all about embracing who you are, yet in the process of doing so, the artist speaks of the issues that are becoming ever so prevalent. One of the issues that has become of great debate has to deal with what should become of things. As demonstrated in the opening lines, Cover Girls do not cry after their face is made so that they do not ruin their makeup. This is not a force for living in, this is a face for impressing and being considered
...and how he projects his voice through lyrics. It was genius for him to put out this song since he has many agreeable fans towards his work and for others to listen.
Illegal Immigration has been an issue throughout American history. Many individuals have their own opinions when it comes to this topic. For instance, some may argue that illegal immigrants enrich American society, but others believe that they detract. Those who believe illegal immigrants enrich America have a very good reason. One of them being that illegal immigrants help to keep the economy moving and growing by taking the low-wage jobs.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, as of 2012, there were 11.4 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Illegal immigrants are all those who travel to other countries from their homeland without any authorization, breaking the laws of the destination country. Within the United States, there has been an ongoing debate about what to do with these people and whether they should be granted with temporary legal status or instead denied this opportunity. A further complication is that many of these recent illegal immigrants are young children in search of their parents, escaping the dangerous conditions in their home countries. They have no money nor lawyers who can defend their condition appropriately and fairly.
Introduction: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” (Lazarus, 1883). These words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty are intended as a beacon of hope for all immigrants that enter the United States. Illegal immigration is the passage of individuals across the borders of a country in a manner that disregards the immigration laws of that country (Center for Media and Democracy, 2007). Illegal immigration has been a continuing issue and controversial topic throughout the history of the United States. In fact, illegal immigration has been in the forefront of national news over the past month.
The love in this song makes you want to just smile. It is the most positive you can get about love form my point of view. He is so detailed about how the one girl has captured his life and make it fantastic. The emotions that go though your head when listening to this song are nothing bad about love. It could spark a bad idea, like when you just broke up with your boyfriend and this some reminds you of what you had. This song should make your view on love be very wide and not make you question just go with what your heart tells you.
Through music we are able to comprehend someone’s personality, their views, their culture, and who they are as an overall person. The music you listen to is a reflection of who you are and your own personal thoughts. As I reflect on the music I listen to I came to the conclusion that I gravitate towards songs that depict the emotions we feel through lyrics while being able to relate it to my own personal experiences.
