Illegal Immigration has been an issue throughout American history. Many individuals have their own opinions when it comes to this topic. For instance, some may argue that illegal immigrants enrich American society, but others believe that they detract. Those who believe illegal immigrants enrich America have a very good reason. One of them being that illegal immigrants help to keep the economy moving and growing by taking the low-wage jobs. Furthermore, the opportunity provided for individuals brought to the United States as children to remain and acquire an education could benefit the U.S. in the long run. Finally, the last valuable reason is many believe illegal immigrants allow for a vibrant cultural exchange which can benefit the younger …show more content…
Some examples of those jobs are fast-food workers, construction work, servers, cashiers, and anything that has to do with manual labor. Many Americans think so highly of themselves they believe that they should not be seen working at any of these jobs because “they are better” and they should be doctors, lawyers, or teachers. As a result, the economy may drop since there are not enough Americans willing to take on low-wage jobs, which results in willing undocumented immigrants to take on those jobs. For instance, in the article “A Landscaper’s ‘Hire American’ Plan Ended with Bringing in Mexican Workers to Finish the job” Tracy Jan states, “ Importing temporary labor exposes his company to too much uncertainty every year. But there are simply not enough Americans who want the type of jobs he offers, with regular work only between April and October, especially in a state with one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates”(washingtonpost.com). American employers would obviously want people from their country to work the jobs they offer, but when that does not work they have to seek for others. That usually results in asking undocumented immigrants to work for them. This goes to show that Americans will always need the help and knowledge these hard working undocumented …show more content…
For instance, many individuals argue that illegal immigrants cause big strains on public resources for school and jobs. As a result, Americans feel as if the United States is paying too much attention to the undocumented people rather than on the legal residents. Furthermore, one presumes that illegal immigrants will take on all the resources in America, which will leave none for them. Many Americans also feel the U.S. is wasting money on immigrants. Nevertheless, this is a poor argument in support of the enrichment illegal immigrants have to offer to the U.S. because they can bring a lot to the table by helping America financially. These undocumented people will bring the opposite of trouble they will improve the United
The other aspect is that illegal immigrants have positive effects in the U.S economy by decreasing consumer cost. Most of the illegal immigrants came to the U.S to fill the secondary labor market; therefore products and services become cheaper because illegal immigrants work for lower wages, thus providing a kind of subsidy to American consumers. Nadadur Ramanujan in his article “Illegal Immigrants” states that, “Because illegal immigrants serves to allow businesses to minimize their cost of production in the secondary sector, it positively impacts income of all native workers by decreasing
Many americans claim that illegal immigrants come into the u.s and take their jobs. In 2012 8.5 million jobs were taken by immigrants. (Passel, Jeffrey S. and D'Vera Cohn, Federation for American Immigration reform,p.2)Yes, many immigrants have jobs in the U.S but most of these jobs are all minimum wage. Facts actually show the types of jobs immigrants are taking. Most illegal immigrants work in hard, awful environment factories. They work extra hours just to have enough money to get by. People are mad at the fact that they have jobs here but truth is they wouldn't take those jobs anyways. If all immigrants workers leave, who would do these j...
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.
Those who support immigrants being protected by the law believe that immigrants help the economy by creating lower wages which enables companies to make better profits. According to Becky Akers and Donald J. Boudreaux, immigrants “should be allowed to contribute to the United States economy in the Constitutional and legal precepts that guarantee all immigrants the opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness in the United States” (22). If immigrants were not here in the United States, the jobs they do might not even get done by anyone else (Isidore 103). Immigrants fill up the jobs that many Americans do not want. “Specialization deepens. Workers’ productivity soars, forcing employers to compete for their time by offering higher pay” (Akers and Boudreaux 25). As researcher Ethan Lewis said, “Economics professor, Patricia Cortes, studied the way immigrants impact prices in 25 large United States metropolitan areas. She discovered that a 10-percent increase in immigration lowered the price...
They take any job that they can take regardless of the conditions that Americans won't volunteer to take. Americans understand the conditions of the jobs and that there are responsibilities that they won’t take upon themselves to do. Then immigrants step in and demonstrate that “we’re here to make a mark and a living regardless of the conditions because at the end of the day we’re just trying to provide for our family.” They’re here to have a shelter over their head, a roof. “They’re consumers to this
First, immigrants help our economy. No matter what u say or believe evidence shows that immigrants actually improve our economy. For example, immigrants give the U.S. More tax money so we can better our economy. They also willingly take the jobs that nobody wants, and since the need housing and necessities they create jobs such as manufacturing, housing, and anything really. A lot of people think that since they come here sometimes for healthcare people think they take money from the U.S. When studies show immigrants actually generate more tax money than they cost.
The travel that illegal immigrants have to come to the United States is as hard as their life back home, but as soon as they settle down, their quality of life will start to improve. Not only do immigrants come here for a better life, but they also happen to improve the economy in U.S. upon crossing
Immigration should be widely accepted rather than looked at as a problem. Economically, immigrants greatly boost the economy by providing new job opportunities, more money to companies, and reducing the unemployment rate. A large influx of immigrants will help many companies because of supply and demand, more people equals more needs to be provided. With the average immigrant worker working at lower wages, immigrants reduce the amount of money a company loses when paying their employees.
These jobs would not be the ideal job for Americans due to the fact of such harsh working conditions for low pay . Immigrants are also seen as people that do not pay taxes, which concerns many
Millions of immigrants, both legal and illegal, come to the United States every year with the same goal towards the American Dream. Immigrants affect many aspects of our society, including the inevitable: population growth. Accounting for more than 12 million people living in the United States, it is an understatement to say that undocumented immigrants have little effect on aspects involving everyday lives, and with that, the economy (Krogstad, 1). The question remains on whether these effects are beneficial or hurting the US economy in the long run. Though some argue that undocumented immigrants are harmful to the US economy, they are actually a crucial part in the framework of it by serving to accomplish more labor induced jobs.
The American job force is a very competitive field and with illegal immigrants here inAmerica, jobs are becoming even harder to come by. It’s hard for Americans to compete with theimmigrants who are willing to work
Immigrants will make more investments and create more business, and also, they will perform works that people who born in America don’t want to perform.
They take jobs from Americans who can not find any other work, not because they are more qualified, but mostly because they are willing to work at costs lower than minimum wage. Not only is the price point lower than minimum wage, but they are also paid under the table in cash most of the time, so they can not be taxed by the government. With every undocumented immigrant coming into this country, the United States loses money, thus damaging our economy. Damaging the economy hurts not only the country’s markets but the legal immigrants and citizens of the country. If illegal immigrants continue to come into the United States through illicit ways, then that damages our country and affects us all
Hinojosa-Ojeda, author of Legalizing Unauthorized Immigrants says that, “Legalization of the more than 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States would raise wages, increase consumption, create jobs and generate more tax revenue”. By legalizing immigrants The United States would benefit from it because it would sure help decrease its debt with Hong Kong. In foreign countries, there is a lack of work and the jobs that exist do not offer a proper salary. And even is people have good jobs, it is difficult to move forward because the economy is not in good standards due to its corruption. Immigrants come from all over the world such as; Russia, Mexico, China, etc.

However, many people believe that immigrants are just coming to America to still the jobs the jobs of the American people. This has not been proven. On the contrary, it has been proven that an increase in immigration has created more jobs and more opportunities for the American people.
