Catholic Reporter under the article “Christ's love for blind, handicapped serves as inspiration for catholic missions helping the poor,” missionaries like Sr. Emma educate them on how to eat how to do something as simple as holding a cup in their hands, how to wash their hands, and even how to use the restroom. These services allow the children to possess dignity they hadn’t ever experienced. It gives them the opportunity to provide themselves with basic skills to take care of themselves on their own. A great example from recent history of mission work is that of Mother Teresa. Their response is motivated by the Catholic Social Teaching, by the heart of the Gospel. Their love reflects that of Love, of God Himself. Experiences of missionaries never cease to disclose such heartbreaking yet heartwarming stories of great hope in times great desperation. In helping the communities in need, a missionary may come to accept and greatly immerse themselves into the culture willingly and open-mindedly. In these impoverished areas which affect those who are poor, affects the numerous foreigners, the missionaries, the tourists that circulate through these areas and leaves a lasting impact on their hearts. Missionary work is not one in which someone simply volunteers, but is one in which an individual is inspired to do self-giving service inspired by faith, inspired by the cross. And we see this directly through the hearts and the experiences of the missionaries involved with Cross Catholic.
