According to Dictionary.com's 21st Century Lexicon, creative writing is “the exercise of creating imaginative drama, fiction, or poetry, esp. as a course of study.” This means that in the whole area of creative writing there many different types. As shown in "What is Creative Writing? - Definition, Types & Examples" by Bryanna Licciardi, “types of creative writings include poetry, plays, movie/television scripts, fiction (novels, novellas, and short stories), songs, speeches, memoirs, [and] personal essays” (Licciardi). In each of these types of writings, there has to be a central focal point. There has to be some sort of reason for why the writing was written. That reason would be called the theme. The theme of each type of work is the central idea of what the author is trying to tell his/her audience. It is a broad and general concept. Some themes that are familiarly used are those such as man vs. nature, man vs. society, heartbreak, love, loss, etc. In the instances of man vs. nature, an individual would have to overcome his own personal …show more content…

Her songs typically aim for the theme of love and heartbreak. In her second album Fearless, released in 2008 by Big Machine Records, she features a song titled, “You Belong With Me.” This song details a young girl fawning over a boy in another relationship. She explains the differences between herself and the other girl by singing, “She wears high heels/ I wear sneakers/ She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers/.” However she points out how she has a better understanding of what the boy wants and how he would be better off with her instead. In her lyrics she sings, “And I know your favorite songs/ And you tell me about your dreams/ I think I know where you belong/I think I know it's with me/.” In her music video, the lyrics are acted out by Taylor Swift herself dressed as both the protagonist and antagonist with the love interest acted by Lucas
