In the summer of 2016 in Los Angeles CA two teams that play for LA high school have summer training. Billy who plays for the football team and Sarah who competes for the track team. The problem is there practices are on the same day and there’s only one field.
“Wooooo Hooooo school’s out and i’m ready for football training.” Said Billy.
“But Billy the track people have summer training too.” Said his fellow teammate John.
“Oh no not the track geeks.”Said billy.
And coming from the back of the classroom Sarah said. “Track geeks?! At least we have won more championships than the football team.”
“That’s because track is easy all you do is run.” Billy said.
“Run?! We don’t just run we do other things. It is called track and field duh.” Said Sarah.
“Ok whatever.” said Billy.

“Coach bennet, steven (the quarterback) just threw the football at me on purpose.” said
Sarah’s friend.
“I did not lyer!” said steven.
“Steven did you throw the football at jessica on purpose.” said coach bennet.
“No it was an accident” steven replied with a grin on his face.
Then billy steps in and says “why would steven waist his strength to throw a football at you jessica.”
Then sarah jumps in and says “why would jessica waste her breath telling coach that steven threw a football at her!?”
Then the two coaches step in and argue for a while and then practice was over. The next day the two coaches went to the athletics office to talk to Mr. Dunn the head of the sports program at LA high school. And Mr. dunn said there was nothing he could do about it.
The next week Billy and Sarah were talking to each other about taking this case to the school district. To try and make track a spring sport and keep football a fall sport that way there training are at different times throughout the year. So they got some of the football team and the track team and went to the athletics office to pitch their idea to mr. Dunn. Mr. Dunn approved
• Mrs. Verne picked a group of students and place them into Advanced Algebra. Doug was in that group including Lillian.
Amanda Ripley constructed an article in which she opposes the use of athletics in American schools. She proclaims that America’s schools are placing athletics above academics. This highly controversial article was published on the cover of the Atlantic. Her argument raises opposition
To satisfy the competitive urge of their students, physical educators held “Play Days” and “Sport Days” for their female students. In a play day, teams from institutions did not play each other, but were comb...
“Success isn’t given. It is earned. On the track, on the field, in the gym. With blood, sweat, and the occasional tear”. Track and Field is one of the oldest sports invented. Track involved athletes competing in numerous events against one another to see who’s the best. With track and field comes misconceptions of the sport, which leads to people making stereotypes for the track athletes. A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. A misconception is a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding. Many people have misconceptions of track and field, because many don’t see it as a sport, or believe it is just running. Once someone brings up
Janet really wants to join “Mapes Street baseball” but Richard keeps on saying no to Janet.Because Richards says as long as he's the captain of “Maps Street Baseball” no girl will ever play on the team. Becky wants to join the “Wheels and Brake Boys” “but Becky can't get a bike because he mom keeps saying no” because it's too much money. Janet on the other hand had kept bugging Richard. Two let her in so then Richard had thought about his team because some of the players were hurt or out of town so he had said yes to
Society often labels an activity a sport if it is rugged, requires endurance, strength, and masculine qualities. Because cheerleading is a predominantly women sport and is characterized by attractive uniforms and cheers, society often shuns the idea of men participating in this activity. Often times the activity is not considered a sport and the males and females are not considered athletes. Both males and females have to fight to encourage others to perceive them as athletes. In 1997, only one all female division participated in the NCAA all-collegiate cheer and dance team national championships. This proves the point that despite the social and cultural costs involved, males are still eager to participate in the sport that they originally founded and feel many more benefits as well.
A student is overheard saying that “ The yellow team is a much more competitive than the blue team”. The score is Yellow two Blue zero . The yellow team scores and a blue player is thrust to the ground .He went to to ground with the same force as when peeta was electrocuted in the hunger games . The sound of the skin skidding on gym floor were like nails on a chalk board. Although it was a seemingly nasty fall the game continued as if nothing happened. Screams from the benches occupy the eardrums of the students, while girls are overheard gossiping in the corner. The blue team desperately tries to steal the ball back from the yellow but they fail horribly . The game is getting close when the students heard a sound. Ding, the end of the sixth period bell rings and the sweat drenched children depart the room. The gym is ldesolate and filled with the remanence of sixth grade stench . The game is
Many other students told me that they would go out for spring sports if they were at the school, but because they aren't they decide not to. Not to mention everyone I have asked about this issue feels that it is an unnecessary annoyance. While other school programs and other people are trying to do something, we are being an interruption to them and they are interrupting us. How can you hold productive practice when there are other people there taking space, using the equipment we need, and taking away our time? The answer is, we can’t, and the fix is easy. Simply start saving up money and also do fundraising to get the money needed to build the things we need here at Havre
On Sundays in the fall people all over the world are watching pro football. But do they know how it came to be or how the rules have gotten to be the way they are today? Most people don’t, so I am going to tell you all about it.
Health care is an integrated, multifaceted discipline that relies on ‘teamwork between different types of health workers with different skills and training’ (Alperstein, 2009: 7) in order to provide the most comprehensive health care. In this essay I will discuss the meaning of comprehensive care and multi-professional teams. I will then look at my role and the role of two other professions in a multi-professional team, while using Barr’s competencies. From this I will discuss my thoughts and feelings pertaining to the task and how this will aid me becoming an Integrated Health Professional.
The Twin Cedars Community School District Board of Directors should decide in favor of funding a school dance team. Twin Cedars, a small country based school of approximately 500 students K-12, has never had the benefit of having a dance team. Two years ago, three Twin Cedars students got together with their dance instructor, Shannon Smith, an alumnist of Twin Cedars, and suggested that the school should have a dance team. Smith volunteered her time to coach and choreograph for a new dance team. Smith took this idea to the principal of Twin Cedars, Mike Helle. Helle agreed to allow Smith to start a dance team that could practice at school, but refused to fund the program as an extracurricular activity. This meant that if there was to be a dance team, all funds would have to be raised by the dance team members alone and Smith would have to volunteer all of her time and effort without being paid. Despite these two points Smith agreed to start the dance team.
College football has become big business. With the CEO’s of the universities, oops I mean “Presidents and Deans” bringing in the big money. It’s a genius idea really. They bring in millions of dollars each year and do not have to pay their employees, so it’s a hundred percent profit. Yes, they say they pay their players by giving them the value of a free education. How free is it? Not just on Saturdays but every day of the week the players but their own personal safety, emotional state, and life on the line. Half the time don’t even have time to go to the classes, but it’s okay the school clears them or sets up classes that are just on paper. Don’t even have time to eat somedays. Have to constantly deal with scrutiny from the media and student body. Even Scrutiny from the NCAA, because oh no you took $100 from your uncle to eat that week. Get trotted around by their somewhat respected school like a walking billboard. I have seen all of this first hand as I played college football for two years. It's been brought up time and time again. The majority of coaches think it's a great idea, I mean most coaches bring in million plus dollar contracts. That’s beside the point though. The NCAA still balks every time at the idea because it would cut into their profit margin and the lining of their own damn pockets. So, with boosters and agents running rampant giving players exactly what they want, the issue is no longer a question. Pay the players now.
Student athletes live very busy lives. A typical school day runs from 8:00-2:30, add in a two- hour practice or game, score a part time job, dive into some family time, a grand slam of homework and catch a little bit of sleep. Students are more stressed due to the many activities they are a part of. This issue affects a lot of people not only in this school district, but most other high schools throughout the country. All student athletes exercise more than other children who are not involved in an extracurricular sport. In school athletics, the players are called “student athletes” meaning that school activities come first. There are strict rules for student athletes, not only on the field but in the classroom as well. In physical education
Grundy states that "metaphors of competition gained new prominence, particularly among the members of the state's expanding middle class, which was coming to dominate public affairs" (Grundy, 12). Male college students living in North Carolina began to excel in organized athletics during this time period. " The contests on the field seemed to mirror the competitive conditions prevailing in the society at large, and the discipline, self-assertion and reasoned strategy that sports were credited with teaching meshed neatly with the qualifies required for business and political success" (Grungy, 13). People who supported athletics wholeheartedly believed it taught good values such as discipline and good character, while there were some who opposed this saying that sports were a distraction for students and thus a hindrance to their educational goals.
It was a gloomy day, Hurricane Hermine blew past Greenville leaving behind scattered puddles across campus as well as lingering clouds blocking most of the sunlight. The air was cool yet there was a certain electricity present that made that day feel less dreary. It was the first home college football game, East Carolina University was going to play against Western Carolina University. The two institutions haven’t played each other since 1981 and it was sure to be an interesting match up, football season was back in full swing and this match would define the success to come for the home team.
