Smit Patel 8-1 The Basement The wind was as swift as an arrow, it whistled in my ears swoosh, rustle. Extravagant was the first word that came to the tip of my tongue when I first saw the dazzling new house. I couldn’t wait to move from that rusted, gray, confined apartment. The gusting wind smashed the house door open, my wide eyes were filled with wonder and the foyer flooded with a generous amount of light. My immature mind was blown away by how spacious and enormous the house was, it was a perfect dream home, perfect to throw parties as well. I was so hyperactive to see my new bedroom that I didn’t have to share with a toddler. I could smell the refreshing coat of aqua paint on the wall, I took a grand tour of the house. I bustled down …show more content…
I slowly staggered downstairs, into the darkness. A frightening silhouette stood right in front of me, my view was hindered. Neither I or the silhouette moved for several minutes. My stomach grumbled and twisted into a knot, an icy cold sweat formed on my forehead. The silhouette inched closer to me. All of a sudden the pitch black shadow vanished into thin air leaving no evidence of its presence. The air became heavy and humid sort of like mist, The shadow reappeared an inch away from me this time with facial features, which made her presence even more abnormal. Her pure white hair with hints of black spots draped in front of her scarred face, her jaw seemed dislocated, dropping to her chest, her putrid breath had the aroma of a thousand rotting corpses, her eyes started to bleed, she wailed, and sent chills through my body, my heart was racing and pounding hard, a type of irritation occurred on my back shoulder, I turned around and it was my mom. I immediately restored full control over my entire body and realized I was in the midst of a dream. The irritation was my mom tapping on my back and the loud noise was the alarm, What a relief, “ My house is not haunted,” I howled, while wetting my
I’d never been in a house like this. It had rooms off of rooms, and in each of them were deep sofas and chairs, woven carpet over polished hard-wood floors, tasteful paintings on the walls. She asked if I was hungry, and she opened the fridge and it was stuffed with food-cold cuts and cheeses, fresh
My mind started to wonder though each room of the house, the kitchen where mom used to spend every waking hour in. The music room where dad maintained the instrument so carefully like one day people would come and play them, but that day never came, the house was always painfully empty. The house never quite lived to be the house my parents wanted, dust bunnies always danced across the floor, shelves were always slightly crooked even when you fixed them. My parents were from high class families that always had some party to host. Their children were disappointments, for we
True Son stared at the place where his Indian father, Cuyloga, was standing only minutes ago. His words, still echoing in his head, “I am no longer your father, nor you my son.” True Son stood alone in the forest, the sounds of the river flowing beside him being his only accompaniment. All he could think about was how much he would like to trade today for yesterday, when he was still an Indian, running free. Now, he was in white civilization, where people barricaded themselves inside their homes, and were far from being free.
One flicker of the light and the shadow possessed a bloody machete, with a dead body in his grasp. My body dropped in horror of the grimly image. I peeked below to see where the figure was located. Once the light flickered off and on, the shadowy figure had vanished. I tried to understand the

It was a beautiful night. It was perfect for a walk. As I strolled further into the park a figure approached me. It was as dark as pitch so I couldn’t make out who it was. It was late; you wouldn’t usually see anyone at this time. My heart was beating faster and faster. The strange thing was I wasn’t frightened; it was just my heart beating rapidly. As the masculine figure approached, I began to walk slower. That was when I heard the voice.
A crisp uneasiness floated amongst the breeze, taking my attention and turning it to the shadow of a figure lingering on the steps to my neighbors entrance. For a moment I believed that my eyes had deceived me, that a phantom had played tricks with my mind. But as the outline disappeared, stealing with it any doubt I may have held, my head felt dizzy. My heart beat so loud I was sure he could hear it as I ran across the lawn. My heart sinking with each step, knowing it was a trick.
The wheels were spinning as a ferris wheel. Pointed High in the sky, they rotated on the car, My view upside down as I’m laying in my seat. The metal of the Jeep was crushing my leg and hand. I’m pinned to the seat. The pain shoots up to my hand and leg.
A luxurious department store in the hub Bangladesh, B.D. store was decorated with many species of flower, eight floors of high street brands, and high class restaurant at the top of the building. “Mother! Mother! I saw a beautiful shirt over there. It was very beautiful and suitable for me.
Then I realized my muscles became reluctant to move. There was something in the room, something that was ghastly. Then I felt an unusual aura, as if I could sense something was near the door. I gazed at the door with trepidation, as a shadow blocks the light below the door. I felt a strong sensation of fear that ran through my body.
I looked up at the black sky. I hadn't intended to be out this late. The sun had set, and the empty road ahead had no streetlights. I knew I was in for a dark journey home. I had decided that by traveling through the forest would be the quickest way home. Minutes passed, yet it seemed like hours and days. The farther I traveled into the forest, the darker it seemed to get. I was very had to even take a breath due to the stifling air. The only sound familiar to me was the quickening beat of my own heart, which felt as though it was about to come through my chest. I began to whistled to take my mind off the eerie noises I was hearing. In this kind of darkness I was in, it was hard for me to believe that I could be seeing these long finger shaped shadows that stretched out to me. I had this gut feeling as though something was following me, but I assured myself that I was the only one in the forest. At least I had hoped that I was.
...en a strange feeling down his spine again, as if something was breathing on his neck. He turned slowly… seeing if someone was behind him and then boom! The figure was right there, about seven feet away, trying to grab him with his big, skinny, hands, with his sharp and dark fingernails that could rip a man’s heart out… He fell down, so surprised by the strange figure.
As I look back on my childhood a great number of memories hide in my mind; sleepovers with friends, hanging upside down on the monkey bars, eating ice cream are but a few. The one memory that doesn't hide is of the postcard perfect house that I love and adore. From the hearty cattails and rose brown apple trees to the grilled cheese, this place reminds me of my childhood fun but also the love that my whole family shared. The red brick house and its surroundings will keep my memories forever.
With a slow dawn I remembered. Had I slipped or had he hit me with something? My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth as I relived the figure advancing towards me. It was dark. The street light that shone from behind the man in the faceless thickset man in the grey hoody ensured anonymity. Now he was coming. How long had I been here? My head ached as I struggled to assess my surroundings.
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. When they got home I didn’t tell them what I saw because i've seen Halloween movies and I have to have dissimulation otherwise the ghost will come out and get me first. October 24, 1998 I think I got a little nervous yesterday with the whole ghost thing. 12:32pm, Went to eat lunch with the family today and I go to get my coat. I heard the words furious and madness,
