I was sitting with my friend, Pistol on one of the bucking shoots watching the barrel race.
...a situation arose where death was a possibility I would stay by his side no matter what. The End is my favorite part. Rose is on the wooden thing while Jack is in the water. Their conversation brings me to tears every time. She is freezing, she’s ready to give up, and he tells her “Never let go.” I’ve had my times where I just wanted to die. I’ve asked Shawn, “Can I just die.” And he replies with a soft no, kisses my forehead, and sighs. He can see the pain I’m in, but he knows it will get better. I’ve cried for hours on his shoulder cuddled up into my blanket, and he holds me and tells me everything will get better. He plays with my hair and makes me feel better. “I’ll never let go.” My relationship with Shawn I believe is like Jack’s and Rose’s. Full of life and love.
The arrival of winter was well on its way. Colorful leaves had turned to brown and fallen from the branches of the trees. The sky opened to a new brightness with the disappearance of the leaves. This place is where he grew up and experienced many adventures. The new journey of his life was exciting, but then he also had a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach of something not right.
Kelly ran down the street; however, her bus was long gone. Mopingly, Kelly returned home. As she walked up her driveway, she tripped over her brother’s skateboard and fell into the wet grass. Walking across a dark alley in the dead center of East London, I frequently see prostitutes flaunting themselves towards simple-minded men. My urge for a vengeance massacre has never escalated to this peak, as I have killed four prostitutes in the past few days. These four killings are just the beginning of the finest murderer in East London. My identity remains unknown, but I call myself Jack the Ripper.
Henry also carries the theme of loss with the story of two young impoverished artists, Sue and Johnsy. In the early 1900s pneumonia took many lives and grasped onto Johnsy’s. In solitude, Johnsy observed a dying ivy branch outside of her window, and she later convinced herself that each leaf represented a day of life and when the last leaf would fall—she would fall with it. Day by day leafs fell and Johnsy’s health lessened, but Mr. Behrman, their grouchy unsuccessful neighbor, would not permit Johnsy’s death. One windy winter night Sue prepared to die with the ivy, but the following morning a single leaf stood. “Something has made that last leaf stay there to show me how wicked I was. It is a sin to want to die” (O. Henry). That something was Mr. Behrman, and he made the ultimate sacrifice by sacrificing his life to save hers. The previous night Mr. Behrman mixed up paints, grabbed a lantern, walked out into freezing storm, and painted the last leaf on the barren ivy vine, but sadly, due to the horrible weather conditions, Mr. Behrman took Johnsy’s place in the grave and died of pneumonia. Mr. Behrman’s sacrifice evoked a feeling of sadness, which deeply affects and impacts the
He begins to think how he had just killed a man and how him and his friends had tried to attempt rapping a girl. As he is walking in the lake he touches a dead body and gets freaked out even more and began to yell. Then the girl hears him and scream there they are and began to throw rocks into the lake trying to hit the narrator. He then hears the voice of Bobby who bought him relief and sorrow at the same time. He felt relief because he discovers that the Bobby is not dead and sorrow because the Bobby was alive and wanted to kill him and his friends.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
In this crazy family their is a son by the name Tom. He had just gotten out of jail early, from killing a man. It does not sound very good that he killed someone but he did it to save his own life. His killing was not on purpose but rather to help himself, it was a self-defense tactic. As this struggling family, even the son from out of jail, are trying to find work and someway to get enough money to feed the family. Tom gets into a little trouble here and there with the cops. One night he tries to just leave his family, now he will not put them in danger any more. Especially when this family has been together through the last 10
“I’m so sorry dears, I couldn’t stop crying,” she said in a sorrowful tone. “I just miss Patrick so much!” She sobbed as she walked to her bedroom. Once she walked in her room, she laid in her bed and fell asleep only to be woken up by the same detectives standing over her bed.
As the life was slowly being drained from the sky, the snow began to fall. Snow, like soldiers in battle getting slaughtered and left to rot on the battlefield. The innocent army began to impale itself into the ground, with the only hope of survival was to die. An army whose uniform was covered in the blood of its previous owner. When it coated the earth, the snow was almost turning the bloodsoaked ground pure with the colour of its flesh.
The boy returns back to school like nothing ever happened. Almost nine years ago that little boy was me. My grandma’s funeral was the first instance of death I can remember. I knew what death was but had never experienced hearing the spine numbing words that a loved one has passed away.
The sunless sky covered the woods over the treetops which created a canopy over my head. The crimson and auburn foliage was a magnificent sight, as this was the season known as Fall. There was a gentle breeze, creating the single sound of rustling leaves. The leaves appeared as though they were dying to fall out of the tree and join their companions on the forest floor. Together with pine needles and other flora the leaves formed a thick springy carpet for me to walk upon.
