And in the other room, Mary Maloney began to giggle.
She stifled her laugh when she heard them stir. She found a small tissue and forced a tear as she trudged into the kitchen.
“I’m so sorry dears, I couldn’t stop crying,” she said in a sorrowful tone. “I just miss Patrick so much!” She sobbed as she walked to her bedroom. Once she walked in her room, she laid in her bed and fell asleep only to be woken up by the same detectives standing over her bed.
“What is the matter?” She asked in a delightful tone.
“Mrs. Maloney, you are under arrest for murdering Mr. Patrick Maloney,” one of the officers said.
“Why would I kill my very own husband! What kind of monster would do that?” She asked.
“We found traces of lamb on Mr. Maloney’s skull
Once they got to the prison, she got out and walked in. They lead her to the women’s section and put her in an empty cell.
“Welcome to your new home,” the security guard said and locked the door shut.
She wasn’t sure whether she should try to escape or to sleep. She chose the latter for the sake of her unborn child. How am I supposed to keep her safe when I can’t even survive on my own, she thought to herself. Since she was going to stay there for a while, she decided to decorate. She took a piece of chalk and drew drawings on the wall. Beautiful designs covering the old tally marks.
After a few months and a new baby, they told her she needed to go to a special room. Her daughter, Annabeth, would stay in a separate room and would only come back on special occasions. When she got there, she found a chair with dark leather straps around where the arms and legs were. When she sat in the chair, people came in and strapped her arms and legs in. They talked to her in a soft tone to get her to listen. They later persuaded her to forget what she had done before and learn new
They set her free with her little girl in one hand and a certificate of sanity in the other. She met her parents and told them about her trip. They were frightened at first but then they agreed to let her and her new child stay with them. Once she got there, she asked her mother to do her a special favor.
“Would you be so kind as to take care of Annabeth for me? I’ve thought about it for a while and I don’t think I would do very well as a mother since the accident,” she said
“We would love to take care of her,” they said excitedly.
Mary sat down on the old sofa in the living room and relaxed. She hadn’t been able to relax like this in months. Once her head hit the cushion, she fell asleep. She slept until the next morning when she smelled her favorite breakfast, lamb tacos and orange juice.
“What is that lovely smell,” she asked as she walked into the kitchen. It looked just the way it did when she left. The pastel yellow tiles still bright and freshly scrubbed. Mary sat down at the table and waited for her food to finish. Her mother set the plate and the glass down.
“Why, only your favorite food in the entire world!” Her mother exclaimed. “I’m so glad you could come back home

Mary Maloney is accused of murdering her husband with an unknown weapon for an unknown reason. Chief detective, Patrick Maloney was murdered last night at his own house, no suspects have been identified yet and the search for the murder weapon was futile. Apparently, the officer had come home exhausted from work and was waiting for his wife Mrs. Mary Maloney, who left to buy food across the street for their dinner. According to a statement, Mary arrives home from the grocery store to find her husband dead on the living room floor.
If you were in this situation how would you feel? If you're patiently waiting for your husband to come home and you give him a kiss as he returns. As he walks and talks little to you then he puts it out there like it’s nothing. Would you cry or would you be shocked? would you fight or would you fall ? tell how you would feel if you were like mary maloney were your husband's going to leave you like he left her. I think that mary maloney is innocent because her husband was a cruel and not very kind man. Not only was he having an affair with another woman he was disrespectful to her he yelled at her and how do we not know he wasn't abusive to her. His fellow officers called him a “lady's man”. I think that mary should not be convicted of murder.
Life. Life is what gives you the ability to think, to speak, to breath and to be a part of this world. It is worth more than any amount of money, your life is priceless. Without it, we would seize to exist; our world would be utter darkness. Honourable Judge, Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, today Mary Maloney stands on trial before you. A woman who took the away the life of not just an innocent citizen, but her very own husband. She was thought to be an ordinary women, a typical housewife and a soon to be loving mother. However, the facts presented before you today conclude that Mary Maloney was not just an unordinary detective’s wife, but also a murder. On April 13th 1953, the life of Patrick Maloney came to a tragic end because of leg of lamb in the hands of Mary Maloney. For the following reasons, Mary Maloney, wife of the deceased, is guilty of 1st degree murder.
It was a normal evening in the Maloney home. Mrs. Mary Maloney sat sewing, while waiting for her husband to return home after an involved day as a police officer. Around 5 o’clock Mr. Maloney returns home with shocking news and… Bang! …a leg of lamb hit over his head and Mr. Maloney falls to the ground dead. All evidence and theories, point to Mrs. Maloney being the killer of her husband, but why? Mrs. Maloney did not kill her husband out of anger after the recent marriage incident, but she did it as a result of mental anguish, self defense and trauma inflicted upon her by her husband. All these events explain exactly why Mrs. Maloney murdered her husband out of reasonable measures.
He did not want to hear what the police officers had to say. He never came out the rest of the night, he waited until grandma finally came into his room. She looked sad, but did not have tears in her eyes. She told Preston it was about his mom. She had been killed.
Mary Maloney, she did not really comprehend what had happened, her face was in disbelief. Mrs. Mary Maloney was in a stage of denial and did not want to believe what had just come out of her husband's mouth. Suddenly Mrs. Mary Maloney started thinking about what to make for dinner, she went into the meat freezer, pulled out a lamb leg, unwrapped it, and then proceeded to walk up behind Officer Patrick Maloney as he was fixing himself a drink and hit him as hard as she could with no pause. Officer Patrick Maloney dropped straight to the floor. Instead of Mrs. Mary Maloney feeling regretful after the malicious murder of her husband, she stated that killing him helped bring the shock out of her and cleared her mind.
Patrick Kenzie is the main character of the film and along with his partner Angie is tasked to find Amanda. Throughout the film Patrick uses unorthodox techniques to try to help in his mission to find Amanda. Unfortunately in his quest to find Amanda, Patrick commits many crimes. In the film, Patrick’s attitude was rebellious. To achieve his goals Patrick does hesitate to employ drastic measures to find information and to get out of serious situations. For example when Patrick was in the bar trying to find information on Helene, he was got involved in a situation with the bar owner and a couple of the bar customers. It seemed as if a scuffle was going to happen until Patrick threatened the individuals with a gun. Patrick didn’t hesitate to kill a person as well. During the film he shot and killed Corwin Earle, the suspected pedophile. He found the murdered body of a child Corwin Earle molested, w...
It is in this manner of being that Mary takes the leg of lamb out of the freezer and proceeds to kill Patrick Maloney in one foul swoop. “All right, she told herself. So I’ve killed him,” Dahl writes (Dahl 2). Mary stays in this robotic-type state as she continually tells herself to “keep things absolutely natural,” while alerting the police of her husband’s death (Dahl 3). Able to preserve her housewife facade, she offers the officers and investigators the leg of lamb with the excuse that “Patrick would never forgive me if I let you stay… without offering you anything to eat,” (Dahl 4).
The one who truly loved her, is the one who sacrifices everything. One of them left her loved one; one of them got thrown in the jail; one of them lost her husband and moved out of that community, and one of them died. All this, is because of Patrick’s decision.
When the police arrived they try to understand and figure out how Patrick has been killed. But unluckily the officers can not notice Mrs. Maloney was the killer. At the end of the book Mary Maloney giggles when the officers said, “Probably right under our very noses. What you think, Jack?” (Dahl 18). Throughout the beginning, Mary Maloney seemed like a nice caring wife but what Patrick said caused her to do a crime. At that point, Mary knew she got away she eliminated the evidence and managed to escape. Mary laughing shows readers that the killing of her husband was not important to her at all. Therefore the theme of this story is to not trust everybody.
Her mother’s beauty was everlasting until she died at 81 years old. Also, she talked about how she stopped taking her medication and then gradually got better. She had been off drugs for 21 days. So now she could be able to do much more. All that she wanted was to make her husband happy and see how the church she liked and the preacher who would talk to her.
However, after Patrick expresses his want for a divorce, Mrs.Maloney is in a shock that leaves her thoughtless and emotionless, seen in sentence “She couldn’t feel anything except for a slight sickness. She did everything without thinking.” (Dahl,2) In this state of shock, she carelessly kills Mr.Maloney which makes her completely change from her previous state. The exact moment in which she killed him, it says “All right, she told herself. So I’ve killed him.” (Dahl,2). This quote shows how her brain had been working at that point but then all of a sudden she gets out of her shock and becomes very aware of how to cover up what she has done.
After seeing this and breaking down, she goes to call Patrick's coworkers, the police. Long after the investigation has started, Mary offers the hard at work officers to eat the leg of lamb that has been cooking. She is able to persuade them creating a loss of evidence and a loss of suspicion. Using her looks to deceive and intelligence to prevail, Mrs.Maloney is able to escape any punishment.
Considering Mary above suspicion, the police conclude that Patrick was killed by an intruder with a large object, made of metal. After they made an empty search around the house and area around it, Mary “remembers” that the leg is just almost done, and offers it to the police, pointing out that they have already been working past their dinner time and that the meat will go to waste if they don't eat it so, they hesitate in the begining but end up eating it. During the meal, as Mary sits nearby but does not eat with them because she's in “shock”, the policemen discuss where the murder weapon might be. One officer with his mouth full of meat, says it is "probably right under our very noses". Mary Hears this and began to laugh. At this point I can clearly tell that Mary is losing the little bit of regretthat she had of killing Patrick because it becomes amusing to her that the police are eating the only evidence against
