Creation of Beauty Is the creation of beauty a competition? Beauty defines as the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest). However, it is ironic how beauty and competition can be appreciated at the same time, yet, it ruins one another. To start off, beauty comes in different forms and can be seen in different perspectives; not everyone can sense nor appreciate a certain type of beauty unless it is in their form of interest or hobby in such field. As an example, from the movie, Amadeus, it can be seen in a scene that Salieri had great respect for Mozart’s talent and beauty with music when he skimmed through one of Mozart’s music sheet; however, if I were in Salieri’s shoes of skimming through those music sheets, I’ll be confused and rather to listen to it than seeing note-writings on papers. Unless, I have the knowledge or the patience of reading through a those notes in just one piece of paper, then maybe I might drown myself in trance of such creation; but, …show more content…
Art is one of the unique ways of communication which may be the reason why not everyone could understand why colors, shapes, sounds, movements, etc. can mean a lot if understood, and it’s incomprehensible with the use of words; not to mention, if people get the opportunity to judge creation of beauty like a test-paper, probably the history of art and facts we know these days would have been fabricated, sugar-coated, lies, and fraud. It may also seem that we have not achieved the beauty of creations of our fellow ancestors at
Art is a language of its own and with out he proper understanding, people are like expression goes “left on the outside looking in”. In other words, people without the proper understanding of art, technique and form as well as other elements can’t appreciate a work of art as much as when you understand why an artist painted in the way they did and what they are trying to get across to his audience. Despite artists attempts to try and make their works as viewer friendly as possible, without the understanding and knowledge gained from an art class as this one people will never fully understand the a work of art as it is meant to be.
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue’s face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we judge a piece of art. The type of lines used in a piece can send different messages. A sculpture, for example, may have been carved with hard, rough lines or it may have been carved with smoother, more flowing lines that portray a kind of gentleness.
Beauty is experienced through visual stimuli. The human being's intake of beauty is through both conscious and unconscious decisions. (4) (4) The question is what motivates our unconscious decisions...
According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary- Eleventh Edition, beauty is “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” (page 108 of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary) But what is beauty really? How does one rationalize its complexity?
It is said that art is like a mirror to the soul, a way to see what
Unlike science, art is subjective. The artist leaves behind a part of himself in his work. Therefore, each piece has its own distinct perspective. Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits show her view on her life, on how she has faced so many struggles, yet managed to be a strong person. When we see or hear or read an artistic creation, it produces a mood such as calm or loud, fear or safety. For example, the Eiffel Tower gives Paris a majestic awe; everyone who passes by feels the strength of the 113-year-old grand structure. Art also has a texture. Photographs reveal much through their textures; grainy surfaces often make the picture more realistic while smooth ones seem softer. When we hear a piece of music or see a film, a rhythm carries us from one part to another. Not just true for these two genres, rhythm is present in any artistic work. These few properties are characteristic of everything we encounter in the world of art, the world of human expression. Most have other special features also. Most of the time, though, we do not think about these characteristics because we do not have enough time to pay attention to anything for more than a few seconds.
During the ancient times in Greece, Plato was the first human to document and criticize the existence of art and artists. He mentioned that human art was always in a form of a representation of something else. In one of Plato’s famous works, he demonstrates the idea of art is like an “imitation of nature” (Blocker 3). In other words, the purpose of art was to represent nature and nothing else. Art was not created for the sake of its own self nor was it created to appreciate its own beauty by any means. Instead, art, usually in forms of writings, paintings, or sculptures, was created to only to represent nature, Gods, emperors, families, or other important individuals. Furthermore, Plato had a very critical view towards the existence art in our society because art makes us more emotional, and our emotions lead to many errors about life. He believed it is our rational thinking, not our emotions or senses, which helps us und...
Art in the western world, was supposed to teach people to be better morally by contemplating the “Ideal Beauty”, such as the Venus de Milo, which represents the female physical perfection. This art was supposed to be meaningful and long-lasting. I definitely think that art has some what changed since then. Some art is temporary, doesn't need a whole lot of meaning, and is usually created by hired people after being designed by the artist. I think that last part is a bit disappointing.
Aesthetics is the theoretical study of the arts and related types of behavior and experience. It is traditionally regarded as a branch of philosophy, concerned with the understanding of beauty and its manifestations in art and nature. However, in the latter 20th century there developed a tendency to treat it as an independent science, concerned with investigating the phenomena of art and its place in human life. Yet, what in a field with a hazy line in between being classified as a science or study of beliefs is considered data for determining what can be studied? It can simply be drawn to the only three things involved in the process of art : The creator, the person experiencing, and the art itself.
One of the first forms of art discovered was paleolithic cave paintings, during the late 19th century by a group of scholars. The theory behind the paintings was that it was a made for the pleasure of hunters while they took a break from hunting for the day. Other scholars then believed it wasn’t the painting itself that stood out, but that the placement of each object is what stood out to them the most. This is what art is all about. Art isn’t supposed to mean just one thing, it is to give people the opportunity to think outside of the box.
With the concept of beauty cast aside, a question remains. What exactly is art without the notion of beauty to help support it? How should it be defined and why? Like numerous terms in the English language, the word art holds varying interpretations from individual to individual. The physiological-evolutionary definition states that “art is an activity arising even in the animal kingdom, a, springing from sexual desire and the propensity to play, and b, accompanied by a pleasurable excitement of the nervous system,” (Tolstoy 235). The experimental definition claims that “art is the external

Like it or not, a person is judged by their appearance and the way they carry themselves. Appearance is directly related to a person’s character because some details of personal affectations tell much about one’s identity. Every person’s identity depends on their family and their race. As a book can never be judged by its cover, in the same way, a person cannot be judged by their appearance, identity, or ethnicity. There are 197 countries in this world, but every country’s traditions and beliefs are different from each other. Ethnicity, race, and sex play a large part in forming traditions and beliefs, which is why they are so different around the world. A person’s identity is based on their family, culture and personal interests, which are all the factors that tend to shape how people are seen in a community. When an individual is judged based on their appearance instead of their character, they often suffer rejection. Everyone in this world has a different identity and is different from each other. Cultures and traditions differentiate people and help
There are so many different opinions on what beauty is. The idea of beauty is purely opinionated. Beauty is your own idea, skinny or thick, long hair or short hair, light skin or dark skin. How people define beauty is unique in many different ways everyone has a different opinion. No ones idea of beauty is the same. In society today it has become more materialistic based if you wear the latest designer or you have the newest pair of sneakers out and the true meaning of being beautiful has escaped our souls. Beauty is not just what we see on the outside it is so much deeper then what we see its what we also have to offer on the inside.Your intelligence is beauty your mind, body, and soul. Beauty is not a single image, but the active embodiment
