Introduction In literature there are 3 diffrent types of conflict, man versus man, man versus nature and man verus himself. A conflict is something that opposes the protagonist in the story. Man versus man, in a man verus man conflict the desires and wants of a protagonist is clashing the desires and wants of the antagonist. Kind of like a superhero versus a supervillian. The superhero wants peace, while the supervillian wants discord. This, creates conflict. Man verus nature, in a man verus nature conflict a person is against a force of nature. Think of it like a family who lives in a town that has just been hit by an earthquake. Man versus himself, in a man verus himself conlict a person is against himself. This is an internal conflict which deals with emotions, thoughts and desires of one’s self. Identifying the Conflict For this assignment I chose to relate man versus himself conflict to my novel Quid Pro Quo, because throughout the story I felt that Cyril MacIntyre constantly felt oppressed because he didn’t have confidence in himself, whether it was about the way he look...

"All conflict in literature is, in its simplest form, a struggle between good and evil." This means that all conflict in any work is basically just a fight between the forces of good and evil. The Crucible by Arthur Miller and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne show that this statement is true.
The book I am reading, laughing at my nightmare by Shane Burcaw, shows three different types of conflict: man vs self, man vs society, and man vs man. Shane, the main character, and author of laughing at my nightmare, deals with struggles with himself and others. Man vs self is defined as an internal conflict that a character overcomes making he/she make their own choices. Man vs society, an external conflict, is where a character strongly believes against a majority of a community or surroundings and decides to act upon it. In other words, man vs society is one against many. Lastly, man vs man is an external conflict with another character.
Conflict is an important part of any short story. The short story, “On the Sidewalk Bleeding,” contains three major conflicts: man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. himself. In this essay, I intend to explain, prove, and analyze these three struggles.

An interpersonal conflict may not be immediately thought of as such in certain events, especially involving “scarce resources” (Hamlett, Interpersonal). For example, two good friends may want to buy the same used car. They are good friends and would never undermine each other’s chance for happiness and could not imagine a conflict between themselves. Yet, there is only one car available. In order for either one to obtain the car, the other cannot. Therein lies the conflict. One individual must go without realizing their goal or interest for the other to realize theirs.
The conflict theory is the perspective that opposition and conflict define a given society and are necessary for social evolution. It emphasizes conflict in the social life and uses it to explain social change. Conflict is inevitable, so different groups which have competitive relation will have conflicts. There are many conflicts in the movie Mulan. For example, the Huns
