The inspection system for Health and Social Care is carried out on a regular basis and is conducted by the CQC (Care Quality Commissions), who are an independent regulator for England. They were established by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (updated in 2022). They are called comprehensive inspections and they are used to make sure services are providing care that is safe, caring, effective, responsive to peoples needs and well-led. Inspections are carried out to give providers of care services a rating. Reports on these ratings are placed on the CQC website for all to see.
