By what has been presented Jimmy didn’t seem to have a positive and loving environment. His mum drank and had mental health problems. How did these factors occur? A possible lack of support for bringing up a child alone or Social-economic factors. Another area could be living in an area where people were living below the poverty line. In this instance there wouldn’t be any close ties with other people who live in the area. Being isolated in this instance with no social support from others who live close by may have had an impact on her. Having someone come out either someone she knows well or a social worker is a good social interaction with others. This can help his mum from a point of How are you doing? Do you need additional support?

It was noted his mum had a mental health related issue. She may not have had the help she needed in order to address it correctly and quickly from a health professional. Having these factors blend into his environment meant that he would look at her actions and acknowledge what his mum was doing was normal, which resulted in a negative outcome. For this, Jimmy may take up drinking when he becomes older because he saw his mum drink.

It was noted his mum had boyfriends that were live-in. He was abused both sexually and physically. Was his mum aware of this situation? If so, why didn’t she give him the protection he needed in order to prevent this action from happening. Should she have approached her boyfriend at the time and ask how did this happen and why? Also, the Police should have been notified of the outcome. This would be another protection factor that would have helped Jimmy in a number of ways. This would have come down to a communication process and getting a first-hand look at what happened.
With the abusive behaviour he presented, he would have brought this on mentally and put forward an abusive action onto others such as the women he was involved with. Especially when he drank in an excess amount. There was no dad figure around for him at the time. Which in turn, meant he didn’t have a good role model in his life. Having no communication with a Male figure such as a dad, or have one of his mum’s boyfriend who was of good character meant a lack of protection for Jimmy as he gets older. This would be in a form of providing and guiding him on a particular path which came across potentially healthy and a well-being one. He was moving around a fair bit which meant he didn’t have much of a chance to get to know people in his street and strike up friendships with other people.

Having this occur he didn’t seem to have any form of Community Connectedness involvement such as social clubs, sporting clubs if he was interested in a particular sport or being involved with another social outlet.

An example visiting an aged care home, help serve food to homeless people or a Youth centre. This is a good opportunity to meet other youths and gain new friends. Another factor was absent was having an ongoing close circle of friends or being involved in a long-term relationship with a girl. These were lacking in his life which meant he was isolated in a number of ways. This isolation would not have helped him in any way or bring self-worthiness. This may present a low-value outlook as a person and lack of motivation from

within.

With the section above if you have a connected sense of belonging with others or in the community this can assist with ones health both mentally and physically.
If Jimmy made friends this can be very helpful with establishing social outlets, meeting new people and making new friends.

This idea would have had potential with a networking opportunity and being able to scope out with new possible employment or to further his education. This would have assisted him in gaining employment in a particular area or further his apprenticeship if he needed so. These factors could have provided him with a form of social inclusiveness. This would have been seen as positive and a fruitful one. Having this involvement or interaction with these people on a social level may have provided Jimmy with a constructive outlook and a healthy one. Why so for this idea? This is an opportunity for him to talk things over with his friends that he might have had concerns with. For example I seem to be drinking or taking drugs quite a bit and I believe I may have a problem. He may ask his friends for a possible solution or help with the matter. Going to an establishment that would assist him with his Drinking one place would be Alcohol Anonymous and drug related intake workshop. Why would have this been helpful? A social interaction with others within the group and help from health professionals can assist with overcoming his problems or work out what can he do to help

himself.

This two networks can be seen as a form of protection from on-going issues. Not talking about these matters over may only make the problem become worse or may become very serious later on. Having an interaction process with people who know him meant they can assist and guide him through talking and to assist him where possible. This action can greatly improve his outlook both mentally and physically. Early on it was noted that one of his mum’s boyfriends physically and sexually assaulted him. This could have a PTS related impact on him. Not going through a counselling process meant he may carry on this behaviour to others for some time. Having an outlet for this could mean correct intervention and a healing process.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Jimmy didn’t have a male role model or close friends he can have around him to assist him with his concerns or issues that troubled him. Not having a mum to protect him from abuse from outside people when he was at his most valuable at a young age. Having his mum be there when it happened could have been a good protection barrier from certain factors which Jimmy may have had on his mind with an on-going basis at some point later in his life. These possible feelings were seen as negative thoughts which didn’t help in any-way. The environment he was around didn’t seem to have any Community Connectedness or have much to do with community-related activities. This lack of belonging meant he had succumbed to certain influences which contributed to him to do drinking, assault to others and involvement with gangs and the Police. Having a strong social connection and support would encourage him to better a developed person. Being involved with Alcohol and drug related rehabilitation programme would have helped him getting the assistance he needed. In all, he may have felt deep down he was not valued very much as a person due to a lack of community connected services and help from other people such as friends and his mum.
