D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.
By what has been presented Jimmy didn’t seem to have a positive and loving environment. His mum drank and had mental health problems. How did these factors occur? A possible lack of support for bringing up a child alone or Social-economic factors. Another area could be living in an area where people were living below the poverty line. In this instance there wouldn’t be any close ties with other people who live in the area. Being isolated in this instance with no social support from others who live close by may have had an impact on her. Having someone come out either someone she knows well or a social worker is a good social interaction with others. This can help his mum from a point of How are you doing? Do you need additional support?
Within the care system there are two different routes in to care and these are voluntary care and compulsory care. CLABSIs are not confined to one unit of nursing care and there are many precipitating factors that may contribute to the development of a CLABSI. Often times these lines are placed in emergent situations in the emergency department (ED) and there may be a break in sterile technique. However a study conducted by Smith, Egger, Franklin, Harbrecht, and Richardson (2011) found a higher incidence of CLABSIs among intensive care unit (ICU) patients compared to those patients whose CLs were placed either in the ED or operating room (OR). This indicates further education for ICU s...

...hen there is a delay in detecting cryptococcosis in patients with an immunodeficiency this puts the patients at risk of becoming infected with Cryptococcal meningitis. Therefore, in my opinion the LFA is an excellent method for preventing and detecting Cryptococcal meningitis. Since it is an easy test to perform and can detect the CrAg fast enough to treat patients who are infected. This is especially beneficial for patients with an immunodeficiency due to HIV/AIDS because the infection can be detected early enough and can save the patient’s life. Hopefully, this test will be able to reduce the amount of people who die due to Cryptococcal meningitis. It is very important that these laboratory tests are done effectively and efficiently to avoid any errors in misdiagnosing since Cyrptococcal meningitis can be fatal to anyone who becomes infected with cryptococcosis.
Appropriate use of antibiotics- Overuse of antibiotics is a huge problem. Being that I have worked in a lab, I have seen the importance of doing confirmation cultures and sensitivities. This is the only way to be certain that the correct antibiotic is being used for correct infection/bacteria. Super resistant bacteria can become a major problem if the correct antibiotic is
I also understand your observations Pearl James-Iser, my sister works for the State of Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the issues that they are going through with families is astounding. Personally, I knew families that had insurance prior to the implementation of the ACA, and eventually were told that the coverage they had did not meet the requirements set forth by the government. Then when they tried to apply for coverage the cost is way higher than expected and they could not afford the plans. The entire thought of having a comprehensive health care system for the nation is a dilemma.

The performance of modern medicine would be impossible without the tests performed in a clinical laboratory setting. The clinical lab consists of pathologists, specialists, scientists, technologists, and technicians work jointly to decide the existence and the absence of disease by providing information needed to evaluate the efficiency of treatment. A medical laboratory scientist has the best of both worlds along with the challenges and rewards that come along with science of medicine. The medical laboratory scientist performs a full range of laboratory tests from simple pre-marital blood tests, to more complex tests to discover diseases such as: AIDS, cancer, heart disease, tissue damage and Diabetes.
