Comparing Rock Music Magazines
In the world of music media there are many different magazines for all
types and genres of music. In this piece of coursework I shall be
exploring the different elements that make up these magazines. In
particular I shall be exploring (in basic language) rock music
magazines. I have also chosen to compare 'Kerrang', which is a
commercial magazine, to 'Terrorizer' which is not as well known but is
still a popular magazine.
Firstly we can see a difference in the two magazines without even
opening a page. 'Kerrang', the more commercial magazine, is a4 paper
size where as 'Terrorizer', the less well known magazine, is ever so
slightly larger, approximately by one centimetre length and width
ways. This gives off the impression that if compared to newspapers,
'Kerrang' would be 'The Sun' of the rock music world, being a tabloid
always taking a very strong opinion on situations and always looking
at the stories which appeal to a 'mainstream' fan. I think that
'Terrorizer' would be the 'Independent' of the rock music world as it
is a much more 'upper class' magazine and the 'Independent' is a
slightly bigger paper compared to 'The Sun'.
Next if we look at the front page of each magazine we can see many
similarities. Both have a masthead and a slogan. The slogans for both
have a theme of music. 'Kerrang's' being 'Life is Loud' and
'Terrorizer's' being 'Extreme Music-No Boundaries'. Both are short and
have an 'in your face' atmosphere surrounding them. Both have
Headlines and sub headlines which tackle some of the same bands but
'Terrorizer' choose to use and feature bands which play more extreme

...rorizer's' reviews are almost twice as long as 'Kerrang's'
and go into more detail with particular songs. They also give
constructive criticism and praise where as 'Kerrang' just gives an
opinion and doesn't go into much detail with regards to the actual way
the music is sounding. In other words they don't even give a remote
description of the music unless it's an opinionated description.
You can see why 'Kerrang' is popular in the same way you can see the
'Sun' is popular but personally I would rather go out and buy a
magazine which offers more to read; a free CD: and constructive
reviews with less advertising rather than buy a magazine with fewer
stories; less informative reviews; bias stories; and one which costs
an extra pound. So I would buy 'Terrorizer' for all the reasons above
and for a generally better read.
If I were to act as Canadian government, trying to protect the domestic magazine market, I would use the same criteria as Canadian government established to distinguish between a split – run and a domestic magazine.

Women walk away from these magazines with an empty feeling and feelings of many inadequacies and they really don't know exactly why. The subtle undermining of women's intelligence and cause strips away their sense of worth ever so slowly and leaves them feeling depressed and in search of something that really can't exist together. Growing old while staying young takes many years of complete and internal happiness not many years of collagen injections and the added stress of having to stay unattainably perfect. While some consider these journalists for women's magazines talented writers, I consider them horrendous displays of talent in which they sell out the naturally beautiful women of the world for a quick buck and a popular magazine.
Firminger examines the ways these magazines represent young males and females. She reveals that these magazines talks about the physical appearance of young girls but also their sexuality, emotions, and love life. The author informs how the advice given by the magazines is negative. The author also argues that these magazines focus more on their social life than how their academic performance

News, political satire, films, and current events might lead readers to believe that they are reading The New Yorker; but in fact, all are present in today's modern day Rock-and-Roll magazines. Rolling Stone, being a very diverse publication, covers many topics in its articles including photos, film reviews, and up-and-coming musical artists. However, their intense reporting on current events and political satire appeal to a generally higher-educated and a more mature audience. Spin also includes film reviews and photos in its publications articles. Yet it focuses its attention on a younger crowd, with articles including comedy and musically-related news. Spin's attention to comedy and chart-topping musical acts draws the attention of single, undergraduates around twenty-something.
People all over the world listen to various types of music. The most popular kinds of music in America are hip hop and rock. As they seem to be totally different types of music they have a lot of similarities . Hip Hop and Rock music have more differences than similarities.
