From homemade recipes all the way to your grandmother cooking in the back until she passed it off to her daughter, Greek and Italian Restaurants have been at the heart of amazing cuisine since the beginning of the booming restaurant era. Two in particular hit home, a small family owned Greek restaurant by the name of Greektown and then on to a Italian powerhouse, Tutti Santi owned and operated by an Italian iImmigrant Robbie. Both of these two restaurants are one of the best in each category of food, they share similar prices and decor but, differ heavily in atmospheres and food. Once you walk into Tutti Santi you do not only notice the Italian music playing you see the wall plastered with faces of countless celebrities. Customers then walk a few steps and are greeted by a beautiful young woman named Katie. She leads customers either to the left or to the right. To the right is a decent sized dining hall that has a mirror wall. To the left is a smaller dining area with the same makeup as the other side. There is an upstairs area used for parties as well as bar down on the lower level. The walls are made up of images of Italy as well as having that atmosphere of being in Italy. Then we move from Italy to about 677 miles West to a little country called Greece, well not really we move onto Greektown, which is the closest you will get to Greece in Phoenix. As soon as the customers walk into Greektown you are greeted by a family and I mean my brother my mother as well as me and my father. You walk right in to see the bar and the murals of Greece that were hand painted. My father the waiter then leads customers to their table which is either a booth included in a partition painted blue and white or a table near one of the hand painted murals of a beautiful Greek Island. Every person that you see inside of a greek restaurant just believes that Greek food is just lamb and Gyro, it is much more than that. It is seafood chicken and salads. Its definitely a healthier option although it might not be an immense amount of food where people are taking home boxes filled to the brim. Greek food is still amazing and the dessert that sells itself is baklava or a honey walnut pastry with filo dough. Next Italian restaurants also share much of the same foods pasta primavera, salad, chicken, shrimp, they do not have lamb or baklava. To replace those two dishes are cannolis and steaks.
Home made food defeats Italian food at the end of the day. So the winner is easily Greektown, they share a family atmosphere as well as making quality food at a reasonable price. It is healthier and more unique than the same old Italian food. So as they do say in Greece instead of congratulations,
