Dominican Republic vs United States
When comparing two countries, there is bound to be multiple differences between them. No two countries are exactly alike and the aforementioned statement is true when comparing the Dominican Republic and the United States. They differ in location and geography but also have many other differences. Some of the main differences occur in the topics of culture, customs and way of life.
The cultures in these countries share some of the same characteristics but they also differ in others. One major comparison is when it comes to languages spoken. In each country there is a major variety. The United States primary language is english but other languages and dialects like spanish and french are also spoken.

In the Dominican Republic the main language spoken is Dominican Spanish which is a Spanish dialect. They also speak english and other languages much like the United States. The same comparison can be made when it comes to religion as well. Both countries practice Christianity as their main religion. They also share a variety in other languages spoken as well. When it comes to food, these countries differ. In the United States popular foods include apple pie, hamburgers, pizza, barbecue, ect. Whereas typical food in the Dominican Republic consist of Sancocho (Meat Stew), Arroz Blanco (White Rice), Ensalada Verde (Green Salad), Tostones (Fried Plantains), etc. Along with cultural comparisons and conflictions there is also those when it comes to customs.
The United States is considered a melting pot of various cultures therefore we have various customs. One unique custom for the United States is the Fourth of July. We celebrate our independence and breaking away from Great Britain on the fourth of July and we are the only country to celebrate of this exact date. Many people celebrate by going to parades, grilling out, swimming, fireworks, and other popular summer activities. The colors red, white, and blue are expressed in decorations, clothing, and certain foods. People express the pride that they have for their country and enjoy celebrating with family and friends. In the Dominican Republic they do not celebrate the Fourth of July but they do celebrate their own independence day. On February 27, 1844, they gained independence and broke away from Spain. This date is encompassed by the celebration of Carnival but by the time it comes around it is the largest celebration. On the 27th, the president will recite an annual speech paying tribute to their founding fathers. Many towns will send their representatives to Santo Domingo and they will participate in the parade. States. The way of life for people in the Dominican Republic and the United States can be compared and contrasted as well. The United States experience their fare share of natural disasters but compared to the Dominican we are very lucky. They are ranked eighth out of all of the countries in the world when it comes to being the most vulnerable to natural disasters. When it comes to jobs, the United States has a great variety. Whether it be politics, business, education, tourism, or agriculture, there is a wide variety of jobs. In the Dominican Republic.many people are employed by the government. They are also involved in agriculture and manufacturing. Unfortunately the unemployment rate is very high. In both countries they go about their days the same by going to work and spending time at home with their families. Overall, the United States and the Dominican Republic, are very similar in some aspects but differ in others. They are both great countries that each unique in their own way.
The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. Mexico declared its independence from mother Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. And it took 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers were told and forced to leave Mexico.
The United States of America and Costa Rica’s constitutions have several similarities and differences. The United States and Costa Rica have two of the most successful constitutional republics in the history of the world. They are alike in several ways, however, there are some major differences that allows them to thrive in their own environments. There are many components that describe the two countries: physical structure, traditions and how the constitutions were established, how the constitutions work, languages, military, religion, education, voting rights, presidential elections, and structure of the legislative branch, presidential terms, vice presidents, and Supreme Court justices.
For example most people don't eat rice and beans every day in Washington but in Costa Rica they nearly eat that every day if they can. Washington has salmon to eat and Costa Rica has other fish to eat. Costa Rica Also has crocodiles and caiman that are great sources of protein. But, people in Washington don't have large reptiles because of how cold it is during winter. Most people live of the different types of plants that are grown during spring and summer like apples and pears in Washington. Costa Rica has little to no growth of apples and pears. Most of the people that do farming are from different places than Washington a example is a lot of people that do farming for veggies and fruit are hispanic in Washington. In Costa Rica it is the people that have been there their whole life that do farming. The two places have different people and they live in different
There are many different things about Colombia and the US, but also there are similar things about the two countries too. Have you ever heard of the musician Oreste Sindici? Oreste Sindici wrote “¡Oh Gloria Inmarcesible!” which translates to Oh Unfading Glory. “¡Oh Gloria Inmarcesible!” is the Colombian national anthem. The U.S. national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key. The US national anthem is called “The Star Spangled Banner”. There are different and similar traditions in the U.S. and Colombia as well. Those may include meals, how the holidays are celebrated, and what the sports are that are played in the countries.

In contrast when I wake up in the United States it can be cold one day and the next day hot. The climate in the United States varies due to the differences in latitude and a range of geography features. Basically United States has 4 types of weather, cold, not too cold, a little bit hot, too hot. The language in the United States is English. The culture of the United States is Western, but is influenced by African, Native Americans, Asian, Polynesian, and Latin American. The United States of America has always done good even without gaining anything in return.Imperialism at the time was a word that was common among not only politicians but also in the possession of American citizens, this proves that the influence was a major plus to America’s global imperialism and expansionism. The Dominican Republic during the 20th century suffered from being in the temptation of Communism. The U.S was able to occupy the Dominican Republic and because of this their actions were viewed as imperialistic to Americas inhabitants and foreign nations as well. Although some believe that the United States is an imperialistic because of past interaction with the D.R it was not the same case this time around.

Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that means fifth of May in English. It is celebrated all over the world, in many different ways. It is celebrated because it is in remembrance of the Mexican army’s victory of the 1862 Battle of Puebla during the Franco Mexican War against France. This holiday is actually just a minor holiday in Mexico, it is more celebrated in America by the more populated areas with Mexican Americans. One of the largest places in is Los Angeles, California, where it is a large party with food, dancing, parades. A lot of people get this holiday and their independence day mixed up. Their independence day is actually on September 16th. This holiday is also known as the Battle of Puebla.

In America there are many ethnic groups with many varieties of language. The U.S. was created through many people from different countries migrating to the new states. The language of both these countries are not only different in meaning and sound, but also reflect the way in which the people in these societies live, believe, and function.
Living in two different places is an experience that opens people’s mind to a new way of thinking. The diversities of each country has its own appeal and often times, we find ourselves comparing and contrasting these nations based a variety of aspects. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences in geography, climate, tradition, and economy between the two countries, Jamaica and the United States of America are extensive.
United States and Jamaica have many similarities such as they were both under British rule for several years, and they both elect officials to govern the country. However the differences between the two are quite vast when it comes to the quality of education, government, and healthcare. When the three are compared it is clear to see that in terms of where is a better place for a child to grow up the United States is a better place to be.
