People have 10 fingers, but it only takes the use of one to hurt someone deeply... In the story “All Summer in a Day,” and the piece of art titled “Pointing Fingers,” the theme “Bullying” is used. Bullying is an occurrence that doesn’t need physical or even verbal attacks to hurt someone, a simple back-turn is enough to make a scar in someone’s emotions.
Bullying is proven in this story multiple times because the kids do it in many different ways, whether it comes to physical harm, verbal harm, or just a back-turn. It is still bullying. “They edged away from her, they would not look at her. She felt them go away.” In this part of the story, William (One of if not the biggest bully taking place in the story), had asked Margot what she was looking at, and she didn’t respond because she was clearly spaced out. I believe this because the image shows all these fingers pointing to one person, basically targeting them. The expression on the victims face while the fingers are being pointed at him/her. I believe this relates back to the theme because it’s one thing to have friends joking around with you and you all know it’s a joke, but it’s another to be doing it to someone who doesn’t like it. And that’s the case in this image. Next place is where the fingers are pointing. Secondly, this part of the picture relates to the theme because it shows how the fingers didn’t all point at different people, they chose to put the blame on whomever the victim was even though they themselves might be guilty of the same thing. Both the expression and the fingers related to the theme bullying because they both told a story of how what was happening was wrong and inconsiderate towards the person in the middle. Bullying is a case scenario where it’s difficult to tell who the offender is, but so clear to tell who the victim
