The Two Walt Disney’s Did you know that there is more than one Walt Disney? That not just America has one but Japan as well? Well there is and his name is Hayao Miyazaki. He is the greatest anime artist in Japan just like Walt Disney is in America, which in their skills is very different in comparison. Walt Disney based his films on familiar fairytales that people have already created, but just switched into the way he wanted them to be while Hayao Miyazaki based his films on his own imagination and his own ideas about what he thinks kids should be watching. He wanted kids to go beyond their imagination and explore what’s around them. Sure, Disney did the same but the difference is Hayao wanted them to forget about reality completely and instead …show more content…
He gives kids a wild imagination more than Disney because Disney makes their movies based more on reality with a twist and fairytales that children and adults have known for a while throughout their years. It is nice to see your fairytales come to life, but it’s something you already know about that’s why people need to notice something different and unique that no child or adult would ever think was possible, and that somehow while watching Hayao’s Movies kids will see an opportunity for new things. He will make kids think out of the box of creatures that never seemed to of wake up from their hiding places and once they do people all over the world will wonder why they never were there in the first place. Disney does also inspire kids to draw as well I’m an example actually when I was younger I adored Disney Movies watched almost all of them and started to draw some of his characters like marie from “aristocrats” and mickey, but later on once I got older and watched for the first time one of Hayao Miyazaki’s films called, “Kiki’s Delivery Service” I learned for one thing that unlike Disney’s choice of a witch there are good ones as well not all of them are ugly, vicious, and want to eat kids or kill. After that I started watching more of his films and noticed how detailed the drawings were and how some characters seemed weird and different then Walt …show more content…
When people watch his films there is never a guy who is truly bad but confused and once they figure out what’s bugging them according if they want to change their attitude they will act nicer and seem to almost glow, while Disney films they will always seem to destroy the bad guy completely and won’t at least give the person a second chance or give them a reason to even want to change their ways of evil. One example is Disney’s movie, “Aladdin” and in the first movie the villain is alive but in a magic lamp at the end, but in the second movie he gets destroyed in lava. Kind of sad if you ask me sure he was a bad guy off to destroying the world he could have turned nice later on if the main characters tried hard enough. Hayao doesn’t really believe in violence and action even though one of his films, “Princess Monomoke” was probably the most intense film he’s ever created, but what he believes is peace though his films. In Tom Gratti article Hayao explained that his aim was to “quiet tings down a little bit; don’t just bombard them with noise and distraction. And to follow the path of children’s emotions and feelings as we make a film. If you stay true to joy and astonishment and empathy you don’t have to have violence and you don’t have to have action. They’ll follow you”. (Gratti). Hayao Miyazaki’s characters are confusing but in a good way they make people think
Back in the roaring twenties America was seeing such world-changing phenomenons such as The Great Gatsby, and penicillin, but what took the world by surprise was none other than Walt Disney and his lovable creation, Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney, throughout his entire lifetime and career, always had an idea, a spark, and a way to make things better. Even in the face of tough times, he never failed to keep his optimistic attitude and kind faith in humanity from infecting those around him. A major part of his success was due to the technological innovations that revolutionized the film industry.
The standard Disney story from the mid 1930s to the beginning of the 1940s is one of the pursuit and somewhat linear progression towards realism. Many theorists used the term ‘hyperrealism’ to describe what appeared to be Disney’s “attempt to represent reality in a medium predicated on artificiality” during the Disney-Formalist period (Disney Formalism, Pallant, 40). Indeed, as the animation and technology employed by the company became more advanced, productions relied less on gag-based humor and metamorphosis and more on realistic animation to develop character and narrative. Many critics of this evolution viewed them as “a move away from animation’s main province, as well as a kind of non-artistry produced from simply duplicating live
Walt Disney created the American fantasy from thoughts pulled out of the far reaches of his imagination. He was a man who had never let go of his inner child. By simply reaching for that inner child he created every child's dream in the form of a simple talking mouse. That mouse became his trademark. Mickey was a trade mark to be used to his advantage though. With his fame and money gained from Mickey he could go on to do heroic things like build schools, work to aid his country during war, build family friendly theme parks, and make unforgettable movies. Walt Disney once said "The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing(ww2.netnitco.net Walt Disney's Great Quotes)." That is exactly what Disney has done and what all Americans should strive to do. Throughout his life Disney taught the world that "It's kind of fun to do the impossible(ww2.netnitco.net Walt Disney's Great Quotes)." If all of America strove to do the impossible everyday then every American would soon fit in beside Walt Disney under the category of an American hero.
Disney has made it his life 's goal to create home entertainment for both young and old. From the creation of Mickey to his work in films, Disney had made it clear that happiness is something that everyone should have. Disney had also know that animations is not just for the imagination of the children. Early movies such as Snow White and Pinocchio have clear messages for the younger views. “In Snow White- the main characters are victims of injustice who are eventually restored to their rightful place. In Pinocchio, the characters Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket and Geppetto are faced with dilemmas, and their own actions result in them becoming victims of ev...
He has achieved many things in his career, countess awards and fans, and has made big impacts in the world of animation. Not only did his style influence the more realistic anime style today, but the success of Nausicaa made anime much more respected by many people. Also, Princess Mononoke became the highest grossing Japanese film in Japans history in 1997. But, the achievement he probably values and is proud of most is the impact he has made on the children and viewers of all ages who see his works. Through hard work and with a passion for what he does, Hayao Miyazaki has truly become one of the most successful animators in all of Japan.
Getting inspired is something that can happen unexpectedly. A single thing can just set the stage for an amazing creation to come about. Much of what people are exposed to due to the media and also literature can really affect someone’s life. Hayao Miyazaki is a film director, animator, screenwriter and also producer. He is someone who’s work really changed my perspective on animation and also the conventional idea of a hero.
As a young child Disney had many interests mainly in the arts. He went from drawing to animation to acting. He kept learning new things and ended up being very successful when he combined all three of those things. He had people not like his stuff, steal his films, and had the majority of his workers protest and quit. All of these things would of been good reasons for him to stop, but of course Disney did not for he was obsessed with being the best. The reason he started doing his animation was to make people laugh and enjoy themselves. Even during The Great Depression he succeeded in making people enjoy themselves once in awhile. He was looked up to and loved by many. Walt Disney was truly an amazing man, he transformed the world in a way nobody else could and for that we thank you Walter Elias Disney, rest in
His work in modern media was revolutionary. Moreover, he broadened communication and made it easier to learn about new cultures. Disney’s movies play a vital role in children’s development and their productivity when they enter the “real world”.
Walt Disney grew up to become a world-renowned animator, but before that he struggled immensely because people did not like his vision. He loved drawing animals that could talk and walk like humans but the media saw that as weird and creepy and did not see the joy in it as Walt did. Marketing is interactive the movies are marketing the
Disney Princess movies target children and are none other than a transfigured fairytale story in which innocence and moral virtue are questioned. In pursuit of romance and having the mindset of doing whatever it takes for love, Disney creates this magical world and targets the youth, especially young girls. Hayao Miyazaki became popular with award winning Spirited Away. Miyazaki has again created a fantasy journey in Howl's Moving Castle. Hayao is also the creator of Studio Ghibli for Japanese movies. As there was a destruction of many kingdoms from the futility of war, both different kingdoms (towns) both want young wizard Howl as he has great magical powers that he uses in the war.
Two mice, Mickey and Minnie although created by the same person, have many differences and similarities. Mickey wears red shorts with buttons, along with yellow shoes, but Minnie on the other hand, wears a dress with white polka dots, and high heels. It is not only their clothing that makes them different. Minnie has a very close friend Daisy, but Mickey has two very close friends which are Pluto and Goofy. Their gender also plays a big role in their differences. As you may already know, Minnie is a girl, while Mickey is a boy. In comparison, Mickey plays the main character in many various shows, but Minnie is often only staged as Mickey's girlfriend. Even though it may seem like they have many differences, they have similarities too. Both
Evidently, children has always been exposed to this kind of films, films that has the “never-ending-tale-of-love-story” concept. Walt Disney had created its own television network known to be “Disney channel” using logo of famous Mickey Mouse. The network developed different shows that was not exclusively for children but has a wide range of target viewers. A great number of viewers are mostly female children who more often than not portray and imitate the princesses in the film. These female children probably tend to identify themselves as the animated characters.
"It was not once upon a time, but in a certain time in history, before anyone knew what was happening, Walt Disney cast a spell on the fairy tale. He did not use a magic wand or demonic powers. On the contrary, Disney employed the most up-to-date technological means and used his own American "grit" and ingenuity to appropriate European fairy tales. His technical skills and ideological proclivities were so consummate that his signature obfuscated the names of Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Collodi. If children or adults think of the great classical fairy tales today, be it Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Cinderella, they will think Walt Disney. "
