There are many people that protect America like the army and the navy. Both the army and navy are a part of america but one is better. The army. The army is better than the navy in many ways. The army is very important to the USA. Without it we would be attacked and how would we help ourselves. There are other countries that rely on our supplies therefor they would help us but we can't just count on anyone else. This is why the navy is important as well. Incase they send boats or sometimes planes to attack us. The army is important to us because they have troops that will defend the land. Tanks that will destroy enemy vehicles and planes to take out other planes. The army is mostly land based meaning they protect the land. (The first army was the Spartans.) And they have there own department the department of army. Other countries could send helicopters carrying land based vehicles to attack the land so then the army will take care of it and protect people like me and you. …show more content…
Now the navy is another story.
The navy protects us by sea using their boats and navy vessels. The navy vessels that they use can let jets and planes take off from them instead of them taking off from the land which could be miles away. The boats they use have big guns on the top. There was a boat called the S.S. Iowa. it was bigger than the titanic and the shells for the guns were the size of a small car. And i'm sure that the S.S. Iowa was a part of the navy. Even though the army and the navy have their differences they also have some similarities. Like the battles that were fought. They work together in most of them to fend off the enemy. Also both army and navy use airplanes when under attack like fighter jets and other
stuff and a very important thing to know is that most if all people do know is that both serve america and protect it with their life. And you can join either one they both involve weapons and gadgets and stuff. If anyone was to ask me which is better the army or the navy I would have to say the army. The army is a more known thing other than the navy which many people actually don't know.about ⅝ of people would rather join the army other than the navy. Plus the army owns more things like types of vehicles or different types of weapons. Most people join the army but if they were to think of the navy i'm sure some people would rather join them. The army seems more important than the navy at least that's what i think. The army is also a better choice because of the fact that most people are scared of water especially people like me. Water is the scariest thing to me knowing there are giant fish and whales and sharks and you can't see how deep the water is only the top but you know it's deep. It's a horrible feeling and so when joining the army you fight eat sleep and train on the ground. Even if someone does like water they might still join the army when knowing they could join the navy. When fighting on soil you can take cover and you know you have the chance to flee or run instead of being stuck on a ship that could sink. So if you want to decide whether to join the army or the navy make sure you are sure which one you choose.don't forget that the army is a better choice Because you can regret choosing the wrong one. Especially if you do or don't like water. When you join the choice you choose you can't go back or change you have to support you country with your first choice you can find information on the internet obviously. Not everyone wants to join the army, not everyone thinks of joining the army so try to persuade someone into joining the army. Also don't forget you can join too.
So they made the Constitution. The constitution protects America by, Federalism, Separation of Powers and checks and balances. Federalism helps protect America from tyranny. It lets the states and the government both have power. Doc A. -.
The U.S. Navy nurtured into a challenging power in the years previous to World War II, with battleship construction being revived in 1937, commencing with the USS North Carolina . It was able to add to its fleets throughout the early years of the war when the US was still not involved, growing production of vessels both large and small. In a conflict that had a number of amphibious landings, naval superiority was important in both Europe and the Pacific. The mutual resource...
In the thirty-eight years of the United States Naval Submarine Service no United States submarine had ever sunk an enemy vessel. With the ignition of the Second World War the poorly equipped and poorly trained Silent Service, nicknamed for the limited access of the media to the actions and achievements of the submarines, would be thrust into the position American submariners had longed for. The attack on Pearl Harbor left the United States Navy with few options for retribution. The three remaining aircraft carriers were to be “the last line of defense.” Commander Stuart S. Murray made the precarious situation clear to his skippers, captains, upon sending them on their first war patrol. He stressed the importance of smart sailing by warning them not “to go out there and win the Congressional Medal of Honor in one day. The submarines are all we have left.” We entered the war with 55 submarines, 27 at Pearl Harbor and 28 at Cavite in the Philippines. At first our submarine strategies lacked ingenuity and failed to use our subs to their full potential. United States subs were assigned to reconnaissance, transporting supplies, and lifeguard duty, picking up downed airmen and sailors. They were even, on occasion, sent to rescue high profile Americans on the run from the enemy or from islands under enemy siege. Although their ability was, unfortunately, wasted in our entrance to the Pacific Theater the Silent Service would soon gain the recognition its men yearned for.
“In 1806 Marine Corps registers showed a paid strength of only eleven officers and 307 noncommissioned officers and enlisted men. Its main duties at sea focused on guarding against mutinies on U.S. Navy ships. In combat, marines fired their muskets at enemy ships’ officers and crew during battle, formed contingents to board enemy ships or attack enemy shore installations, and repelled enemy boarders. On shore, marines guarded U.S. Navy yards in several American cities.” (With Fidelity and Effectiveness: Archibald Henderson’s Lasting Legacy to the U.S. Marine Corps, Joseph Dawson, p. 271) The early 19th century saw the United States as a small agrarian society trying to build a unified country. After the Revolution the Army, Navy and Marines were disbanded as they were believed to be not needed. No one planned to go to war with anyone and any possible land conflict could be handled by the various state militias. This changed with the influx of piracy by the French and a few North African Arab kingdoms, commonly called the Barbary pirates. The United States had a thriving mercantile marine that proudly sailed across the world to find new markets. This made them perfect targets. John Adams, the 2nd president, reconstituted the Navy and with that the Marines. New ships were built and sailors and Marines were recruited to man them. They fought against pirates in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. This had the un-intended effect of preparing them for the 2nd war with Great Britain from 1812 to 1814.
Loyalty, Duty, Service, Honor, Integrity, Courage, Commitment. The seven Army values, the three Navy core values, and the three Air Force core values: each branch of service possesses a codification of values and characteristics embodied by servicemen and women for generations; simply picking a handful of these qualities presents a logical and justifiable option for defining the essential qualities of a military officer. It is true an officer must personify and uphold such values, however, interpersonal skills and self-confidence are also invaluable traits necessary for the highest level of leadership and excellence demanded of a military officer.
“No nation ought to be without debt”, states Thomas Paine (35). However, “a national debt is a national bond. America is without a debt, and without a navy (35).” In the chapter “Of The Present Ability of America, With Some Miscellaneous” Paine paints a picture of the present day 1776 position of the military. He claims that the America’s position in defending herself is minimal due to a nonexistent navy which has been blocked by England.
The Department of Homeland Security as an umbrella department has taken in many organizations to complete their primary duties of national security. To complete their mission on boarder protection and movement from international waters the DHS had the U.S. Coast Guard assigned to it. “The Coast Guard has many duties, including the protection of coastal and inland waterways, environmental protection, the interdiction of contraband, and maritime law enforcement.” (White, 2014) Since the Coast Guard ...
The United States Marine Corps is known as one of the worlds most elite fighting groups. Marines are looked highly upon by most people in American society. However, The Marine corps has had a rough journey since their birth date on November 10th, 1775. While the American people felt and still feel that the Marine Corps are vital in our military. Though the Marine Corps was formed originally for amphibious warfare they have proven themselves powerful “in every clime and place”. Some however feel the United States should integrate the Marine Corps into the United States Army believing that both are performing the same tasks and that having another branch is just causing the defense budget to be stretched out amongst all branches. This is one of the reasons the Marine Corps has been disbanded in the past along with peace time movements were the United States Navy was also disbanded. Even with the Marine Corps’ struggle to remain one of Americas elite fighting forces the people have always rallied behind them to keep them afloat.
Among these responsibilities include; the ability to deter and dissuade nuclear operations in the enemy states (Rourke 544). Apparently, it is the responsibility of the U.S. Air Force to stop any of the U.S. enemies from carrying an air attack on the U.S.soil(Builder77). However, in the case where they fail to protect the country against such an enemy, the Air Force can respond with a nuclear air strike against these enemies. Furthermore, it is the work of the Air Force to prevent the radicalized Muslim States from possessing nuclear weapons or any other weapon of Mass Destruction. Another responsibility of the U.S. Air Force is to maintain cyber superiority (Builder 88). By maintaining their power over the cyberspace, the air force can achieve several military objectives hence giving it the power to make quick, decisive actions against the enemy. The U.S. Air Force has responsibilities during special operations that are carried out in the hostile environments (Builder77). Technically, the apprehension and the killing of the Notorious Terrorist Osama bin Laden by the Special Forces was successful because of the Intelligence that was collected by the U.S. Air Force. Another major responsibility of the U.S. Air Force is ensuring that the military personnel together with their equipment can be transported to the areas where they
One of the most important aspects of having a strong and successful military is logistics. Without a strong supply corps, a military is not able to mobilize nor sustain their current operations. Sun Tzu says “the line between disorder and order lies in logistics.” Navy supply is a large operation, consisting of over 26,000 personnel. Navy supply’s sole objective is to provide “One-Touch-Supply” in which a single request can activate a global network. With “One-Touch-Supply” navy supply “is responsible for quality of life issues for our naval forces, including food service, postal services, Navy Exchanges, and movement of household goods”(globalsecurity).
If there is a war between The US and another country and we have bases in or near that country war can be contained. Having these installations can keep war as far away from the united states as possible. The US having these bases in allied countries can also cause foreign countries to assist the US even if not specifically their war. When the Korean War started the US had bases in south Korea, this helped the US push back the North Korean communists and not take over South Korea. Having these bases can help the US quickly aid in natural disaster situations. If there is a natural disaster in a third world country that cannot afford to help its people, The Us can quickly respond and provide aid such as in The Haitian earthquakes. US presence can help in war and non-war situations such as natural
There are many militaries throughout the world but the US Military is seen as the most professional and capable military in the world. We are perceived this way due to our rules and regulations that have branched from our fundamental principles and doctrine. Uniformity is one of our leading regulations in the military. Uniformity is what makes the military have a professional image. It is the basis of our instructions and regulations concerning the dress and appearance of our military personnel. Recently however, the Pentagon has decided that it is more important to accommodate certain groups of people then to have a professional and uniform military. On January 22nd 2014 the Pentagon passed a new policy that is easing up on the existing regulations by allowing beards, turbans, headscarf’s, tattoos and piercings of religious nature to be worn while in uniform (Pellerin, 2014). This new policy has started a heated debate about whether this is a good idea or not. I myself believe that this policy should not be allowed because it is undermining basic military values, lowering our standards on regulations, and it is a start to a new undesirable military force.
America is being guarded by the courageous soldiers of america. Each of those soldiers die to protect the people of America. They risked their lives and fought for our country, to be able to do that is very astonishing. I know that I can rely on those soldiers to protect my family and the people I care about. The soldiers train hard day and night, it amazes me how they must be committed to do that for civilians that they don't even know, and who haven't done anything for them. All of the various type of soldiers are the ones who work hard and sacrifice everything to protect there one love, America.
Military security has always been an integral part of national security. During the Cold War, the majority of threats that policymakers and analysts saw as risks to national security were military threats (Snow, 2014, p. 25). Nonmilitary elements were added to national security policy during this period, and today nonmilitary, semi military, and military elements all remain important. The September 11th attacks saw an increased focus on national security. Concerns of terrorism led to the Department of Defense working more closely with federal, state, and local agencies (Bowman, 2003). The military has always relied on civilian control, yet there are some characteristics that complicate the relationship between military and civilian society.
The majority of the population in the United States feel that the military is either extremely over paid or under paid. Depending on how you look at the situation determines how you see the facts. If you are only looking at the money in a paycheck then it may appear that the military is under paid. However as you begin to look into all the benefits that are available you begin to see that the military is paid very well. It is important to look at the many advantages and disadvantages to being a member of the Armed Forces.
