The helicopters flew overhead of the small Haitian town and landed in the middle of the city, US soldiers with vaccines and food pile out from the nearby base, quick to help the people suffering from the tsunami. This is an example of how The United States and its military forces operate in foreign countries as a global force for good. The US has military bases and embassies to keep foreign relations in a good state. Having forces in foreign countries can help in case of war, or to provide foreign aid to countries suffering from natural disasters. The United States should not end overseas military operations because it allows the US to keep good foreign relations, have the global intervention to stop enemy forces before they reach the US and to more quickly provide aid when a disaster hits foreign countries that are far from the United States. If there is a war between The US and another country and we have bases in or near that country war can be contained. Having these installations can keep war as far away from the united states as possible. The US having these bases in allied countries can also cause foreign countries to assist the US even if not specifically their war. When the Korean War started the US had bases in south Korea, this helped the US push back the North Korean communists and not take over South Korea. Having these bases can help the US quickly aid in natural disaster situations. If there is a natural disaster in a third world country that cannot afford to help its people, The Us can quickly respond and provide aid such as in The Haitian earthquakes.
