For this assignment, I would like to choose Starbucks, a coffee company that loved by almost all the coffee lovers over the world. This company has founded by 3 partners that are University of San Francisco students, English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker in Seattle, Washington, on 1971. Alfred Peet, the big entrepreneur in the business making and selling coffee, were their mentor by taught his style of roasting beans and the equipment needed to three of them. With his guidance, they started their company from a very small level with named Starbuck at Pike Place Market, Seattle.

Besides, starbucks is serving more than 70 different types of drinks to their worldwide customers and they not only known for selling brewed coffee, but also best sellers for other hot and cold beverages such as espresso beverages, chocolate beverages, Frappuccino blended coffees, Frappuccino blended crème, blended juice drinks, brewed tea, iced shaken teas. The consumable products that are made by Starbucks are coffees, teas, iced and hot drinks, smoothies, specialty and customizable drinks, cookies, croissants and so much more. They also have a line of products like reusable cups, mugs, gift cards and packaged coffees and teas. Not only do they have a significant market share, they also have a large market mix. For this organizational analysis, I decided to analyze Starbucks. I chose Starbucks because they are the leading innovators in socially impactful business activities and personally, I love Starbucks coffee! Obviously, the point of this paper is not to talk about how good their products are, but to analyze how their organization is structured and identify potential for improvement. I have never worked at a Starbucks, but I have two friends that work at the location inside of Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls. After countless hours of research, talking to my friends about day-to-day activities, and actually going to Starbucks on numerous occasions over the past few years, I knew this was the organization that I would love to analyze.

In order for employees to continue to perform their jobs effectively and successfully they have to grow and learn along with the company and their positions. The training and learning process has to be implemented properly so that employees are receiving the up to date skills that are required for their positions. A training needs assessment should be performed to find out if training is the best solution to meet the company’s goals and to improve employee job performance. If training is needed the type of training has to be chosen and introduced to employees. The company will then measure the success of this training to ensure that it is the most effective type of training to achieve their overall goals.
