The most important ways that Community Advisors can help to create an experience where students are supported and engaged are by being a pillar for their students, understanding the needs of the community, creating programing around it and helping the students to become leaders themselves. Being a pillar for your students means creating an environment where they feel comfortable coming to you about any problem and they know you will be there to listen, support and help lift them up, which once student feel safe in their home they become more engaged in school and their community. By creating programing around the issues on your floor students feel that their problems are being heard and become more engaged because their issues are being addressed …show more content…
The first step of this process I would ensure that the team knew I was here for them whenever they required it, check in to ensure that they understand the position and are not overwhelmed by the position and helping them to learn the best techniques for handling any situation that might come their way. After I feel they understand the position and have begun to create their own techniques for success we would work to create attainable goals within the position so that can see where they should be concentrating their energy and create a form of self-checking and motivation. By creating these goals with their peers they are more accountable and they can feel themselves succeeding and accomplishing new highs. Finally as they start to master the art of creating, completing and furthering goals we would work on surpassing confidence only being within them to creating it within their students so that all students will feel the support of their CAs and become engaged within their community. The goal of the senior position is to be someone that the team know has the leadership skill and knowledge to help them in crisis as well as the interpersonal skill to help facilitate the growth of team bonding and

In COL 101 I have learned many new things about college. Since this is my first semester at college I did not really know where everything was. This class really helped me to learn new things about myself, including what resources are available to me, what my plan for the future is, and the many changes I have endured during this course.

I am a strong believer that the primary focus of any senior member of staff should still focus on Learning and Teaching despite being involved with the intricacies of strategic management. In my own roles over the last nine years I have tried to keep that mantra at the front of my mind. A strong leader, I believe, should be able to move things forward rather than being wholly reactive in dealing with day-to-day processes. I would strive to be a transformational Assistant Headteacher, constantly looking forward and shaping the future of learning rather than being purely transactional. I am confident that it is this that has contributed to the raising of standards within my own curriculu...
In the effort to support a growing population of diverse students, states are encouraging schools to promote family engagement and education equality. To help with this promotion schools need to have a welcoming and friendly environment for students, family, and staff members. The purpose for family engagement is to get families evolved in education to help support the academic success of their children. The most common family engagement opportunity is an open house right before school starts and parent/teacher conferences. However, family engagement events should be promoted throughout the year just not 3 times a year.
English has never been my best subject. Reading books can be exciting, but the writing aspect of English can be dreadful. Somehow, however, I passed all my advanced English classes with at least a B, and my teachers always considered me to be “above average.” My impartiality toward English shifted to an indifference near the end of my high school career; my indifference then shifted to appreciation. This appreciation is attributed to American Studies and Honors Writing, the most difficult English classes at Belleville East Township High School. American Studies and Honors Writing have strengthened my writing skills beyond what I believed possible. I still do not believe that I am the best writer, and English may never be my best or favorite
Teaching means more than just giving students information about a subject. Teaching is about building relationships, and finding ways to support students in their pursuit of learning. Support can be both in the classroom (or the setting where the learning takes place), and outside of this realm. I have gained skills pertinent to support and relationship building throughout my experiences as a resident assistant, peer advisor and peer tutor. Being a resident assistant has meant that I have to open my doors and my life, in a vulnerable sense, to support those around me.
First, one must identify the issue at hand; then, promote an open, honest relationship encouraging staff to be forthcoming with their perception of the problem; the team can then focus on coming up with a solution. Furthermore, enlisting a positive attitude, empowering the team, remaining active throughout the process, and demonstrating sincerity in the appreciation shown to those working hard during challenging times will prove beneficial as studies have shown a strong correlation with staff retention and the implementation of a transformational leadership approach (Casida & Parker, 2011). Utilizing this tactic will prove cost effective by minimizing cost associated with the turnover. The positivity among the team is likely to increase work performance, decrease the number of errors, improve overall patient

This is probably one of the hardest, as a leader it is easy to do, but finding the right people and engage them in the process and continue to keep them motivated will mean in the end we will reap the risks and share in the rewards.
Creating a open environment where families feel welcomed and accepted is a key way to create and build positive relationships. It is important to support family involvement within the classroom. Family involvement enhances the student’s overall education experience. Teachers need to recognize that being involved can be different for every family. The mother who comes in and helps during class activities can be considered just as involved as a mother who works two jobs, but reads with her daughter every day.
Simply by just following all of the steps such as demonstrating integrity, being clear and consistent, creating positive energy, using commonality and reciprocity, managing agreement and disagreement, encouraging and coaching, and sharing information. Articulating a vision was something I found useful while being team leader and I did that by establishing smart goals when I was team
The learning environment connects the classroom to the community through a democratic approach. This community based learning brings the world into the classroom so students can implement social change and challenge social inequalities. The curriculum focuses on student experience and taking social action on real problems such as hunger, violence, and discrimination. It is important to instruct students to explore in group settings so they can work together to analyze and develop theories that can help each other and make a real different in the world. As a future educator, it is important to not only to teach my students the issues in our world, but how we can work together to find
