Communication Skills
Communication skills are all around us, from the day we are born until
the rest of our lives. How many times have you seen communication skills
required for a job in the classifieds and wonder what it actually means. A
communication skill is some type of skill used in communication, From talking,
body language to even listening. Many things can effect the way one can convey
his or her communication skills to others. All of these skills are very
personnel to one another. Everyone has different ways of expressing some kind
of communication skill within them.
One communication skill is speaking, by far one of the most important
skill we posses. To be a good speaker one must be able to convey ideas clearly
and briefly. One must also have a clear and pleasant tone to his or her voice.
This makes the person you are talking to more attentive, thus, more interested.
The speaker must also be aware of his environment and the people he is speaking
to. Environment plays a lot with what you say and try to convey to people. If
you hear a bird chirping, you might incorporate it to what you where just about
to say. This makes the person you're talking to even more comfortable with what
you are trying to convey with your thoughts and ideas. This is how different
things can effect one's communication skill, speaking.
A second communication skill is body language, a very personal way of
expressing yourself without words. One's body language can carry a whole
conversation without even saying a word. Sign language is an excellent example
of this, one can spend there whole life communicating only with there body.
Still one can be able to understand exactly how a person is trying to express
themselves. Speaking and body language goes hand to hand, without gestures when
talking one cannot truly explain certain things to someone. Also there is no
visual effect for the person listening. When there is sound as well as some
kind of visual movement one is more interested in what someone is trying to say.
Through body language one can tell if a person is sad or happy, glad or mad.
Body language conveys a lot of expression to are inner feelings and thoughts.
Body language can show many things about you and the way you think. It can also
show the way a person reacts to what you try to convey to them. If the listener
isn't responding one must try and change the topic without losing the listeners
focus. One can only know this threw the listener's body language.
TONE (NOT A COMMANDING TONE OF VOICE) NOTE: LIGHT A CANDLE AND PLACE IT SOMEWHERE WHERE IT CAN BE EASILY SEEN.
Nonverbal Consideration: Eye contact, hands gestures, and avoid swaying my body around. This will draw more attention to me, and people will hopefully pay more attention to what I have to say

...a psychological study so it’s not correct all the time because the human thoughts and personalities are not the same in all of people also some people are very good in acting and that’s well help them to hide their real reactions and feelings. Also it’s has negative side in my opinion and it is that if everybody can simply read this language you will never have privacy or hidden secrets, and it’s not a comfortable situation at all.
Any communication interaction involves two major components in terms of how people are perceived: verbal, or what words are spoken and nonverbal, the cues such as facial expressions, posture, verbal intonations, and other body gestures. Many people believe it is their words that convey the primary messages but it is really their nonverbal cues. The hypothesis for this research paper was: facial expressions directly impact how a person is perceived. A brief literature search confirmed this hypothesis.
Effective communication will be demonstrated by identifying good responses and poor responses, listening and responding, asking questions, bringing up difficult issues, addressing and disarming anger, and the effective combination of skills.
In order to successfully deliver an oral presentation such as a speech, the speaker must follow certain procedures to ensure his message can be conveyed clearly. When we think about communication, we think about interactions. So what is your body language communicating to me? This are the words that Amy Cuddy a social physiologist, uses when she start up her talk about body language. Cuddy’s talk “how body language shapes who you are” explains how body language can identify how much power one is feeling just by observing someone’s body language. Amy Cuddy states that when one expands one is feeling power, and when the opposite is done which is shrinking one is feeling powerless.
.... I have a plan in order to maintain growth and development in all three types of communication. Primarily and most obviously, I must consciously practice all of the skills and knowledge I have learned. Secondly, not being afraid to ask for, and accept, constructive feedback from others will be a huge contributor to recognizing and following up with needs for improvement in any communication areas. Finally, sharing what skills and knowledge I have gained in this class with others will help to improve and maintain my own communication skills by surrounding myself with an environment filled with people who are also competent communicators. The more people who understand effective communication, the better the understanding between each person in society overall. I hope to follow through with all of these propositions to become an even better communicator in the future.
The way we communicate can be very important in representing ourselves in our community. In the beginning, of the semester, we watched a movie regarding a royal member whom was looked down upon because of his verbal pauses. However, throughout the movie he learns to work with his speaking style. He may have not completely eliminated the flaw but, he did learn how to overcome and adjust with it is style of public speaking. Public speaking is very power it as the authority to make an audience shock, upset, surprised, disbelief, and even to become inspired. By using structure in a speech and applying ethos, pathos, and logos can create a deeper connection to the audience. Therefore, the most impactful part of a speech is its introduction. Such that if the speaker implies a power attention getter they are able to deliver their message successfully. In my class presentation, the times I won speaker of the day I noticed that within my speech the only reason why I was selected was because I provided a strong attention getter and because my voice was very loud and it had minimal of verbal pauses. I have learned that any speech can be delivered successfully when the elements of structure and practiced are present. For most of my presentation to prepare I would practice my speech by recording myself with a tape recorder and then replying. This allowed

Becoming more direct and getting straight to the point with my speech has impacted my experiences in increase my ability of not losing my listeners interest and avoiding improper articulations by speaking or communicating clearly and effectively to obtain a good impression of his or her listener because a person only gets one time to make a first impression. We must understand the power of the tongue. Changing our words can change our situations.
One of the main aspects in communicating is listening. An effective listener is one who, not only comprehends how the speaker feels but, also understands what they are stating. Building a strong connection between the speaker and the listener is one of the first steps to become a good listener. By building this connection speakers should first be in an environment with open minded listeners, it makes them feel more comfortable to state their opinions, feelings and ideas. Listeners should avoid being judgmental.
