Communication is a process where people receive or send information. The person that is talking would be the receiver that has a message that they would like to give to a sender feedback. This is an example of how people communicate to each other. Using communication helps you meet new people and connect with others. In order to understand someone or make things happen in our lives, you need to be able to communicate. Communicating with others takes time to learn, but using skills and abilities will help improve social skills. As we perceive others and ourselves we learn improve our perception as we discussion more. If we us are self-perception more we will be able to be more aware of the negativity towards another person can affect the ability to describe and evaluate ourselves. As families, friends, and media begin to force me to start socializing more, I began to think and influence my self-perception. As you get older you develop more skills to improve your ability to communicate with others. Most people need to be able to understand you and your personal view of life. Also, people need to check in with others to make sure you are accurately perceiving a person, situation, or event. Reading this chapter, I have learned many ways to improve your self-concept. In everyday life people communicate with one another such as your family, friends, employees, or even strangers. When we communicate we just think that we only communicate with others verbally, but most of us use communication without even speaking. Nonverbal communication is people use vocal elements, gestures, and even symbols. Everyone uses nonverbal but some can use it differently compared to others. It can be different with different cultures, genders or background. Nonverbal is actually considered a very important to communicate with others. It can be used to inform, express emotion, interact with others, establish social skills. Reading chapter 3, helped me understand more and how it is useful in our lives today. As I pay more attention to myself I watch and see how I communicate without talking. I learned I can communicate just by using body movement, facial expression, appearance, touching, and vocal cues. From reading this chapter, I realized how much I use nonverbal to communicate to others. The negative affect of nonverbal is others can begin to stereotype
