Taking the time to reflect on one’s career can increase self-awareness and enhance professional development. A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life. Hence, a professional development plan documents goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and aspirations. Moreover, a professional development program is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate study to keep track of one’s progression. The principal purpose of a developmental plan is to give a description of my educational and professional background as well to explore my personal goals as it relates to my profession growth and development.
Early on in my career as a teacher I learned the value of professional growth for myself. This took the form of professional development that I gained from conferences I attended and grants I was awarded. I also knew that I could share what I learned with others within my school and presenting at conferences. As an educational technology leader I use the knowledge and skills gained from my university classes in providing professional develop...

The author has designed the personal learning plan around the diagnosis of his learning needs, statement of specific learning objectives, learning resources and strategies, evidence of accomplishment, how the evidence will be validated, and how the learning will be evaluated. I will concentrate on the five disciplines: Systems Thinking, Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Shared Visions, and Team Learning introduced by Peter M. Senge. This will allow me to expand my leadership abilities at my current job as well as jobs that I may hold in the future. What distinguishes leaders is the clarity and persuasiveness of their ideas, the depth of their commitment, and the extent of their openness to continually learning more. They do not "have the answer," but they seem to instill confidence in those around them that, together, "we can learn whatever we need to learn in order to achieve the results we truly desire" (Senge, 2006). Senge is explaining to us the importance of being open and to expand our knowledge. That is why every leader and employee should create a learning plan, so that they can understand as much about themselves. This allows them not only to believe in themselves, but others to believe in them as well.
The Closing Bell Speaker Series consists of lectures where presenters from different companies speak about professional development in areas that pertain to their career or a topic that they are passionate about. The purpose of this paper is to summarize two of the Closing Bell Speaker Series that I attended and to relate the information I was given to my own professional development. This paper will include a background of the speakers that presented, a summarization of their presentation, and my response to the information presented.
The development planning process “refers to a system to retain and motivate employees by identifying and helping to meet their development needs” (Noe, 2013). This process can be used in the internal hiring process. When brining internal employees into the supervisor training program this process will motivate the employees so they will continue to grow within the company. The morale of the overall company will improve when employees are chosen internally for the supervisor training program. This process has four steps to it; they are self-assessment, reality check, goal setting, and action planning. Self-assessment identifies the improvement that is needed from the employee. The company can provide testing that shows the strengths, weaknesses, interest, and values of the employee. Reality check is when the employee determines which of the needs can be developed realistically. The company can create a performanc...
Professional development is a lifelong journey. In order for one to examine his/her individual skills, qualities, needs, and opportunities, one must be able to identify future goals. Part of identifying future goals is being able to recognize weaknesses, use of time management, and different ways to invest in oneself to make the most of his/her future. Creating a professional development allows an individual to create an action plan based on his/her values, beliefs, and experiences to advance oneself in a career situation.
The talent management is defined by the Five STAR program where managers “begin a process of cascading, aligning, and translating these imperatives into clear goals and SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) objectives that relate specifically to each of the five STAR points” (NCHL). The programs institutes and refines goals, stipulates accountability and heighten company objectives correlating with each employee’s potentials. The principles of the succession planning and talent management strategy are to review and assess key talents to foster innovation and advancement in their careers.
I recommend that we decrease the average service times for all food stations as well as reduce the minimum service time for the interactive cooking station and increase the inter-arrival time. We can implement this by offering specials a half hour to an hour before the rush period begins, have enough precooked meals available to accommodate the rush and precook the ingredients for the interactive station. We can also have the manager step in as the second cashier whenever a certain amount of time transpires. The cashier on duty can signal to the manager by hand gestures or a light when the wait time has exceeded two minutes, respectively. I also recommend that the layout of the cafeteria be changed. The new layout will give us better organization of the lines in order to decrease confusion.
Superiors at P&G are encouraged to train and help in the development of their subordinates. P&G’s performance appraisals are based on the Work and Development plan (W&DP) that P&G has globally across all functions. The W&PD has four components: (1) Previous year’s plan versus the results, (2) Areas for further growth and development, (3) Near-term and long-term career interests, and (4) Development and training plan for the next year.
Each individual’s career path is distinctive and depends upon the individual’s outlook, behavior, work experiences, and activities. The incentives associated with career development are universal and include increasing one’s earning potential and acquiring additional skills and abilities that are attractive to any organization. Training and development are important factors in helping individuals develop talent, motivation, and leadership skills that will contribute to a successful personal and professional career.
On the basis of the identified needs, we can set goals on when to develop those skills, what are our intended results and the strategies to achieve them. My personal and professional development plan on the basis of the identified development needs is as follows:
The personal plan has enabled me to track myself on my developmental changes that are important for my achievement of set goals. Planning has also allowed me to keep track of all the steps that I will need to acquire skills and knowledge. I have also been able to see that if I continue in my current method I will not achieve all of my goals and through techniques such as SWOT analysis I have identified these areas and begun to create methods to fix this problem. The basic purpose of this essay is to point out my personal and professional skill development because these two areas are interwoven.
Creative and innovative will boost how the employees itself give their thought and ideas to improve the service, systems and products effectively. Thankfully we had a good employer where there is always a room for a communication, where we had a discussion with the management on employees’ development program and they agreed to support you in term of moral, working hours and to the extent release the employees to attend any course without deducting your leaves. We believe that as employer they have roles to play in order to develop their employees. The company will benefit when the employees are well equip with the excellent oral communication, critical thinking, strong work ethic, teamwork, competence and setting the goal which requires a lot of thinking process. Through self development program employees will gain carrier growth, become competence, multi tasking, high confidence level, self esteem, good teamwork, had a vision, motivation and appetite in the journey for self
