When I was a child, I used to think that the brain is like a sort of intestine inside my head. I even thought of it as a type of maze, a labyrinth that consists of many interwoven paths of ideas and different thoughts placed in an orderly and organized sequence. In addition to this, for me, the things inside my brain are not just ordinary things. Instead, I consider them exceptional notions. Why? Because these things does not only symbolize my ability to think intellectually but these thoughts also represents my personality. On the upper left side of the brain, the image of my parents is located. I put it there because I used to think about them all the time. Seeing as I am far away from home, I couldn’t help but to sometimes feel lonely and …show more content…
The stack of books signifies my desire to build my own library in the future. I intend to fill it with lots and lots of books, magazines, journals, periodicals, encyclopedias and anything that can be read and will give me a lot of information. This aspiration is very significant to me because I love reading and learning. For me, one of the most powerful and immense ability a person can have is reading because it has the power to educate a person. Also, I love reading because it brings me a feeling of immense joy and a sense of satisfaction. In fact, if I could have all the spare time in the world, I’ll probably use it to read and …show more content…
Oble also represents the hardships, battle and all the things that I will experience in UP Baguio. Many are the characteristics of a student and undoubtedly being a student is a hard journey full of ups and downs and delights and worries. It is the beginning of the future; the future that one day will reveal the fruit of years of work and efforts of being a student. In which at the end of the student journey the future awaits.
I grew up constantly seeing my parents suffer from choices they made when they were freshly graduated from high school. They always told me to go to college so I wouldn’t have to suffer from the same mistakes they made and I was going to do just that. I decided to take on the student loan debt and continue my education because I refused to settle immediately in life.
College is said to be the gateway to a successful career, and I think no different. One of the main reasons I want a college education is so when I approach an employer they see me and think success. Studies have shown that when you have a college degree you are more likely to make an average 20 thousand more a year. If I was awarded this scholarship money it would completely change things for me; I say this because my family has struggled financially and with this I would be saved from crippling debt in years to come. Another reason a college degree is important to me is because I am striving for financial success so that I do not have to struggle like my parents have. In life money is what makes the world go round, and with a college degree I would be placed in a position where I would be able to achieve a level of financial security that would support myself, and hopefully a
There are two types of people in this world, the first ones are, the people who doesn't really like reading books because most of them doesn't have pictures on it, and they find it extremely boring. Then the other type of people, who simply gets lost into their book every time they read, because they just simply love reading. Some of them even say that when they're reading, it is taking them to a different world that only their imagination can create. That is why some people consider their books as their most priced possessions, because of how much it means to them and also some books can be rather pricey. Indeed, books can really be expensive, however, you might be too astonished when you see the following books, because they're considered
My whole life I have never been the greatest at reading, but I have always tried to improve and push myself to do better. Reading and writing areis twoone of the needs of daily life. With that being said, you can conclude that I have always struggled. My problem was I always read too fast through the books or writing prompts, and I never remembered what I had read. But, with help I overcame my problems and started getting better at reading and writing.
Attending college is worth it. Students who get a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for many years but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They get more work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is so small compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
My dad taught me that books could be my teachers, my mom taught me that our backyard could be my classroom, and my sister showed me that you could bring books into the swimming pool. I did not know it when I would spend hours in the pool reading a book that my parents weren’t encouraging it in vain, but my family life, for good reason, was centered on books. We were the planets orbiting around one sun that was the bookshelf. Little did I know that books would be the catalyst to academic success in my early life, and I owe it all to my family. Although a life with a book in your nose might seem boring, I was never bored. Living through the characters vicariously, I explored Narnia with Lucy, attended Hogwarts with Harry, and rode dragons with Eragon. Of course
For the first six years of my life, I was a boy who savored going to school and seeing all of my friends. Then one day in first grade, during English class, that all changed thanks to a time were we had to read out loud. This day scared me for a while, and caused a fear in me that I wouldn’t let go of for about another eight years. Let me tell you first off, I was not at all the same person in first grade as I am today. For one thing, I was totally inconsiderate to any understanding of the reading system. I am writing about this event for the sole reason that it has changed the way I have live my life up to these recent years. Now that all of that is out of the way, I will continue with a story about a boy who overcame a reading and writing disability and turned it into motivation.
Ever since I was a child, I've never liked reading. Every time I was told to read, I would just sleep or do something else instead. In "A Love Affair with Books" by Bernadete Piassa tells a story about her passion for reading books. Piassa demonstrates how reading books has influenced her life. Reading her story has given me a different perspective on books. It has showed me that not only are they words written on paper, they are also feelings and expressions.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
«Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and archive, and contribute to improving our quality of life. Libraries change lives for the better.» this are quotations of Sidney Sheldon’s words, he was American writer and a master storyteller, who wrote best-selling novels, such as «Master of the Game», «The Other Side of Midnight and «Rage of Angels», he become one of the best selling fiction writers of all time. A good library provides support for every mood. Book may help to know life, its laws and regulations, can teach a person to appreciate the kindness, irreconcilablе concern to evil and sort out the people around you. They can support in any trouble and help give an answer to a tantalizing question. Thus, books can become your private teacher. In addition, it can become a friend with whom interesting, meaningful, and fun to spend time. The need for reading books and visiting the library depends on internal human culture. Some people have this kind of need on a level of instincts as eating or sleeping, and some people don't. Of course, the habit of loving books in itself can be developed inside each person. However, you have to reasonably explain why you need to read a book. Reading good books can give a person what is necessary for the life, mind, heart and soul. With a good book, man is not alone under any circumstances; he always feels safe and comfortable like at home. The 21st century is a time of great achievements in the field of computer science because computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones appeared. People live with the times; they enjoy high-speed Internet, e-books and audio books. Many are wondering: why do we really need libraries? Why ...
These two are my personal interests. I’ve always been very inclined towards science and more specifically, the brain. Most people balk at the sight of preserved and dissected brains, but they intrigue me to learn more about how we function and can live based off of this collection of nerves and electrical pulses firing at the speed of light. I plan to become a neurologist or a neuro researcher when I am older and have already begun by attending pre-college camps in Canada and doing independent research with friends all around the world. Books represent my creativity.
Writing has always been one of the things that I’m passionate about. Whenever I have something on my mind, I would jot it down or type it in my notes. No matter how small or pathetic it seems, I would always write it down, because you never know when you’re going to go back to it and create something grand, out of inspiration. People would think that a person like me would write down poems or novel ideas. That’s completely true, but I also write down recipes, grocery lists, hate lists and literally anything that comes to my mind. I’m the type of person that does not like to miss anything, forget anything and likes to include everything. People would say I’m a perfectionist or a control freak and as much as I would hate to admit that, it is true. While these traits of mine might hinder my writing process, during this school year I learned how to embrace them.
...ns and within the library so that same enthusiasm is evoked in my students. I will remember how much richer my life is because of reading and strive to provide that enrichment to others because I simply cannot imagine my life without books and libraries.
Books have always held a sense of security for me because they offer an instant escape from reality. My own troubles stop for the few hours, minutes, or even seconds that words pull me into another world. When I worry, I read something light and humorous. When there’s nothing but monotony in my life, I escape to far off lands where anything is possible. With enough imagination, the stories not only come alive, but I become part of them. This sensation is so strong that the feelings I experienced reading follow me long after I close the books. Books also let me live different lives. I
