The best advice I have ever gotten in my life is "You won't ever fail unless you just simply stop trying". Advice from family members and friends are something I will always take with me no matter the position I am in or the struggles I am facing. I will always remember this as a statement to never give up and when times become hard just keep on pushing through them. Now, needless to say, I have been stressed and had struggled along the way, but, I mean who doesn’t while they are juggling college classes, high school classes, and maintaining an exceptional GPA. Life has thrown at me some troubling times but has also set the bar for what I want and what I expect from myself.
When thinking about how my life has changed from when I was in middle school to the last year of my high school career, I think about all the accomplishments I have made and succeeded in. I think about how emotionally intelligent I have made myself become, how I have made myself proud of who I have become, and how differently my life could have been if I had taken a different path. My choices in life has created the type of atmosphere I am comfortable around and most

Delaying that gratification can construct a way of learning how to be what I believe, successful in my life. Having a successful career path, will have an effect on me that I know that I will love. I am the type of person that wants to have a plan, I want to have my life figured out before I feel that it is too late. Applying for colleges have been the most fun and most eye opening time so far in my life. I have never been able to write down all my accomplishments that I have never given up on and actually looked at them and been as proud as I was when I took a moment and said “yeah I actually accomplished all of those” I accomplished all those activities and community hours that I can honestly say that I would never want to
You can’t expect success if you quit with each curveball that life throws at you, rather, what you need to do is to dig deep into your inner self and find the strength to keep moving forward in order to come out on top. That’s the message I try to send to people whenever I attempt something, no matter what challenge comes my way, I will overcome it and I will succeed. My goal is to prove to as many people as I possibly can through my perseverance and hard work that anything that you set your mind to can be achieved, especially if you have the heart and dedication to push
When I think about how I became the person I am, all I can think about is where I am from; where my roots lie; what really has shaped me to the kind of person I am today; my hometown of Brownsville, Texas. Unlike every other city in Texas, the vibe that comes from my town cannot be compared to any other in the whole state, which is mainly due to the demographics. Less than 5% of all the population of Brownsville are non-Hispanic, and it is definitely not known for being a wealthiest city in Texas; which gave me a distinctive feel for the area and the people all around me.
The life I had and the life I will have, have changed me as a person entirely. I became more confident and I’m learning to be independent. This would not have been accomplished without the motivation of my parents are their never ending trust and support in me. My friends have also influenced who I was because of good peer pressure and avoidance of the misguided children in school. I have a lot left to go through in my life according to Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg.
The personal challenge that I faced mainly dealt with my health. Ever since I was child, I was very sick physically. The doctor recommended that I not play or participate in any type of sports because of my poor health. This led to a lack of confidence in myself to perform my best. I have always thought that there was a barrier somewhere in my life, and I could not pass that barrier because if I did then my life would certainly be in ruins. I was raised with the philosophies of the Chinese. I was told that no one could perform many tasks at once and be successful. Ever since, I always have an image that if I participated in activities at school then I would do poorly in my school work. I never pushed my limits to the maximum to challenge myself. It was as if there was a wall standing in front of me blocking me from being successful. I was always afraid that the consequences might be permanent and my grades would drop.
There is one main life lesson that I use all the time. And it is, to never be a quitter, because being a quitter is worse than losing. Being a quitter is even worse than being a loser. Cause, who would want to be called a quitter their whole life. I would rather spend extra time trying to get it down and done, then be a quitter. Cause if you quit at one thing, most will quit every time a roadblock is in their way.
As of right now I am in my final year of high school before starting a whole new chapter in my life. The few years of my life I fought against all the downs in high school and how beat against the current in my boat. Many try to forget their four years of high school but I will embrace the four years of high school and how they changed me. I will always be carried back into my past.
Most of the time I step up to the plate, I fail. It is tolerable if I fail; it is human nature. But when I go up to the plate and do everything right, I succeed. All my dedication, practice and determination pays off when I finally succeed and then it feels amazing! All the hard work comes down to finally being able to accomplish something after you’ve failed and failed again. The ability to be able to focus on a goal and accomplish that goal is what you need to succeed at many things in life.
One thing that really bothers me is how much I changed. I used to play games all day, not focus on school, wouldn't get in serious trouble, and was very innocent compared to my present day self. There are cons and pros of my past self compared to how I am currently. I am more happy of how I am now then I am before. As time changes, so do I and I can not stop that. What’s done has already been done and can’t be changed so you always have to look towards the future and never the past. The past will not definite who you are today unless you let it. I would have never expect that I would be transferred to a continuation high school in my freshman year. It is a bad thing to many people, but I am thankful that I am sent to it because I will learn
Life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes it is hard to stay focused and motivated in achieving goals. Achieving goals means being motivated to push against all the odds no matter what the problem might be. Everyone is different in overcoming different obstacles in their life; some people might listen to a song, talk with a friend, or take a jog to get over something that has happened. I like to think of my favorite quote, and my favorite quote is Finish Strong. Finish Strong came from my softball coach my sophomore year. He read some great stories from the book. Those stories along with the quote stuck with me ever since. I like to think of my favorite quote because it is inspiring, meaningful, and successful.

I have always had full intention of going to college and graduating to make my family proud, but often I find myself wondering if it is even worth it. I always start strong and become lazy and stop trying half way through the semester mostly because I become discouraged. I have high aspirations, but want it all to come easily, which will never happen. I see family members who have not gone to college, in positions of power and then I begin to think that college is just a waste of my time. I understand it will make me a better person and give me more opportunities because that is what I have been told my whole life, but is it worth it?
I’m a calm person, who thinks arguing with someone is a waste of time. From a small town, not from a rich family or perfect one. I’m big on law enforcement and the military. Love being involved in activities outdoors, and a softy for animals. I work my hardest, when I really want to give up, I force myself to finish what I started. When I grow up I want to be a military dog handler.
I have chosen to answer the question “What are some of the significant events in your life that have shaped who you are?” as my first question because I have been through quite a bit in my life that has greatly impacted who I am today. I am the youngest of four children biologically – I have two older brothers and one older sister, my eldest being six years older than I am. While I was growing up, my dad was an active alcoholic and my mom was a struggling parent with four young children and a husband who liked his beer far too much. Trauma in my life started when I was about six years old and my eldest brother started junior high school.
Characteristics a feature or quality belonging to a person, place or thing and serving to identify it. There are many personal characteristics that can define a person as an individual; some characteristics determined if a person is nice, disrespectful, intelligent, or not intelligent but it determines how a person interprets you. I believe that every individual has integrity as one of their characteristics, but my top three characteristics are Integrity, Compassion, and hard-working and for the person who carried me throughout my whole life “my brother” his characteristics would be his responsibility.
Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The school is great, the people are fantastic and the atmosphere is one that makes you actually want to go to school. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
