Imagine a room full of your closest friends, your favorite food, the comfiest couches, and the sound of pure joy. I'm in awe every time. My church youth group, this is my happy place. I never knew how great it could be until I realized the smile it put on my face every week. It has taught me so much about myself, my relationships, and it has given me something to be a part of. This group has helped me learn things about myself that I wouldn't have known otherwise. I’ve always had an interest in helping people; but through all the mission work i’ve done with this group, it has become so evident to me that I want to work in the healthcare field and help people for a living. Since as long as I can remember, I have had an extreme interest in the human body and how it works, but i’ve never really been able to show my interest any where. For eight years I played competitive volleyball and I loved every bit of it. After my freshman year of high school, I quit playing. It became more work than play. I disappointed my coaches and teammates but most of all, my parents. My parents had invested so much time and money for me to play volleyball and they were upset with me giving it up. For a period of time after that, I felt very lost, like I didn't fit in anywhere else or I wasn’t involved enough. Youth group changed that for me, it gave me something to be a part of. It gave me something to hold on to when I leave for college. Youth group gives me something that I don't want to leave. On the other hand, youth group has been the most helpful part in preparing me for the real world.
