I first heard of the word architecture when I was in the sixth grade. At that time it only meant the design of a building to me but as I grew, it grew onto me, I began to become more interested in architecture. Now I know that architecture is more than just the design of a building. It is coming up with the structure scaling and even the view of the top of a building or house and the sectioned view. In the future I see myself as a grown man sitting beside other people while coming up with a design which would one day affect the lives of many people in a positive way. This impact would contribute to helping people use areas and space in the right way, I want to make something which would be beneficial to everyone. I am a 17-year-old African American boy who attends Brooklyn High School of the Arts, where I currently major in art. …show more content…
I am Planning to go to a college to major in architecture then I plan to find a job to work as an architect.
My first year of high school I did not take things seriously and I was not focused or organized. Soon after I applied to a program called AVID which was a college preparation program, I was accepted for my sophomore year. This helped me to have a serious attitude when it comes to working and to be well organized. Without this class I would not be as focused and eager to do what I want to in life today. If I had to describe myself in three words these three words would have to be disciplined, determined, and persistent. I am a student who is able to stay focused on a challenge or topic I am given, when I start on that challenge I complete it. I am highly motivated to become successful in life and reach the goals I have set for myself. Although they are big goals I am determined to work hard and learn whatever it takes in order to be successful, Maybe one day I will be the person I see myself as, sitting at a desk with other people coming up with a creation which would one day affect the lives of many
people.
Architecture is the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings. It includes the complex and carefully designed structure of something. Architects are people who practice this art in which they mostly design buildings and homes that are suitable for people to be in and use for everyday needs. Throughout history there have been many influential architects who have designed world famous structures that are located all across the world. One of these architects is Philip Cortelyou Johnson, who designed major buildings in the United States of America. Like most architects, he has an interesting history of how he became what he is, his own architectural style, and his accomplishments.
...en I have a goal. I work hard and don't give up easily. I am a perpetual optimist always looking to the future and learning from my mistakes rather than letting them pull me down. I have a certain amount of natural intelligence, and what I lack I make up for with persistence and tenacity. I have an inherent belief that I will accomplish my goals that keeps me positive and pursuing my goals even when it is difficult to do so.
Time has ravaged many of the greatest works of art that mankind has created but one form of art has far outlasted all of the rest. Architecture is the art of buildings but it spills over into designing furniture, bridges, and even cities. There have been many great architects, from the classical builders of ancient Rome and Greece to the Modernists of the last century. All of these men were great in their own right but perhaps the most famous architect ever is Frank Lloyd Wright.
When I was a young girl, my older brother always did very well in school and he and the rest of our family were always very proud of his work. As I grew older and noticed all of my brother’s achievements I decided that I wanted to not only achieve what he had, but to also achieve things that he had not. Because of this strive to reach and surpass the standards that my brother had set, I developed into a person with great determination. Throughout my life I have always set goals for myself and then did everything I could in order to meet those goals. This aspect of determination in my personality has allowed me to get to where I am today, a student of George Mason University. Whenever I am faced with an obstacle, such as a hard class, I make
Architecture is such a wide thing when we talk about buildings and projects. Architecture is defined as the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings. One of the Renaissance man who not only define...
Over the last four years of studying architecture, I have seen the power that it has to shape communities, shape lives, and to create new ways that people interact with each other. The way architecture can help enhance living and allow for creation of new interactions of people is one of the reasons I find the subject so interesting. The way architecture can shape a whole culture and the way that the culture then in turn shapes the architecture is fascinating to me. Architecture is also not a static subject, it is constantly evolving and adapting with time to take on new forms, create new spaces, and to provide commentary on the history of our time on Earth. The depth that architecture has, and the evolution of the subject is something I have fallen in love with through my study of it. However, when I first started out studying architecture, I had no idea of the depth that the subject had, and it was an incredibly daunting realization; however, it was as equally exciting. I have always had a love for learning and architecture has just fueled that fire. Even after completing my bachelors degree, the learning has not stopped. I get to learn something new about architecture daily, and getting to say that is an opportunity I am thankful to have. It is not just about the learning however, its
I have always had a considerable interest in architecture, ever since studying Fine Arts in Tunisia. Thereafter, I have looked at it in detail through my study in the University of Tripoli (UT); where I spent five years, and gathered a huge amount of architectural knowledge. This interest would suggest that I would be well suited to the job of an architect. I have always believed that it would be a very interesting career for me which needs a lot of imagination, visualization and artistic sense.
As Frank Lloyd Wright has said, “the mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.” Architecture matters beyond providing shelter, beyond fulfilling one needs and being functional. An architectural space is a significant tool which influences individuals’ behaviour mentally and spiritually through the experiences it provides. Architecture begins to shape one’s state of mind before the individual enters the space; however, entering the space evokes greater emotions, and observing the plan of an architectural space permits more understanding of the building.
My passion for design stemmed from a young age, this was when I was presented with a mini Lego set where I would try to design my dream house, which would look more like a whole city. I would try create and recreate many different designs, thinking they would be impossible to produce in real life, but by growing up and seeing the world with a wider vision, the designs I created at the age of around 5 were incomparable to the buildings surrounding us to this day. I am amazed by what we are able to create with just a tiny idea, pencil, ruler, rubber and a few computer programs could make one of the most admired and popular designs in the world. This is what makes me want to delve deeper into the world of architecture. Hopefully, I can be one of those thousands of people to create those dreams for others, by making a truly innovative design that would not only be mesmerising to the onlooker, but also environmentally friendly, economical and durable.
The desire to move forward is intrinsically human. This Desire has been the backing force behind all great evolutions and innovations changing the way we live our lives. Since the industrial revolution these changes have occurred in quick succession continually pushing technology forward in order to ‘improve’ our lives. Somewhere along the line we developed the notion that with a newer phone, faster computer or whatever the next device happens to be, we will finally reach perfection. We will become the human beings that we have always wanted to be.
From the help of my teachers, family, and friends I have taken many of the necessary steps in completing my long and short term objectives. Because I have chosen to take hard classes in high school and get involved in numerous activities, I already have credit for many college classes. Another way that I am clearly prepared to achieve these goals set ahead of me is through the organization and responsibility of keeping up with my grades and getting college applications in on time. Ultimately, every educational and personal step in the right direction has been beneficial in finishing the goals I have set and preparing me for what lies
Architecture is a unique process that involves many problem-solving abilities, thus it is more than a beautifully designed aesthetic presentation. It not only encompasses, but far surpasses many basic elements of design as it factors in human behavior, economics, geography and many other crucial challenges. All of these elements are integrated together to create a systematic and functional form.
In my life, I've learned that the only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work. I'm a very hard worker and I take initiative as soon as I get the opportunity. I work well independently and cooperatively on a team. Im very helpful and caring to others. I consider myself more mature than most of my classmates.
The profession of architecture, the possible career as an architect, taking steps to gain a position and education as well as the set growth and prospects of this profession. According to Lee W. Waldrep (2010), author of the book Becoming a Architect “A Guide to Careers in Design, an architect is an imaginative person who designs a wide range of structures for buildings”(p. 2). These structures not only have to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also meet the safety requirements. Architects have to compete with other architects to attract customers by presenting designs. This process is generally based on building a reputation as an architect. Due to the nature and the amount of time devoted to designing, architects
I always wanted to get good grades and challenged myself which help me get in the honor role in my two years in row, but that doesn't mean I am a perfect student. As, student going to high school can boost my confidence in the classroom and help improve my average writing skills. In Middle School, I was a part of clubs such as NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) and Service Learning, and being member of these clubs I become a well shape student overall by being optimistic and enthusiasm about school and I was given the opportunity to change the culture of my school and the community. When I am not doing school work, I enjoy playing sports, especially football, so by going to high school I can continue where I left off. Being a student with right mind set, transitioning to high school won’t be I hard, but I know I will have new challenges I have to overcome and long lasting experiences which will get me ready for life.
