People really liked his geometric patterns and they wanted a dress line. His dress line was made of wrinkle-free skill. Just like Chanel,he made a hostess line for Braniff International Airways in the mid 1960s. His outfit was like Channels, but the dress was longer. His designs are colourful, bright and geometric prints that would form a pattern. With his patterns he tried to make patterns that resembled art prints with lively tones and kaleidoscope like lines. Another designer he spoke with is Willa Kim, the lady who inspired him to pursue costume design after seeing one of her costume designs for a ballet on PBS. He and Willa talk about how she started out as an artist and then got a job opportunity to work at MGM studios. A tip he learned from her was to paint the leotards skin tone to make the nude appearance. He said he was so fascinated by that when he saw it on TV in black in white in the late 1960’s early 1970’s.

Gabrielle Chanel remains one of the most well-known fashion designers of all time. She was born on August 19, 1883 in France and died in 1971. Chanel revolutionized the fashion industry with her distinctive style. After the death of her mother, she spent much of her childhood in an orphanage. The challenges of her early life helped build her strong character which influenced her path in life. Chanel was nicknamed “Coco” after a lost dog in a popular song she loved to sing. For example, in haute couture, he mostly uses lace and silk to provide a more erotic look. In his ready-to-wear, he’s famous for using a panther’s roar. For his NikeLab collaboration or his “Victorious Minatours” collection he uses the colors, red, white and blue relating to the NBA logo.
At age 25 he opened his first collection and it was a big success, inspired by his mentor Balenciaga. The collection was based on evening wear as well as economical white cotton shirts that were both inexpensive and fresh-looking. After that collection, his name was recognizable and his biggest success was the “Bettina” blouse; named after the famous Paris’ top model. This blouse was his signature piece in his cotton collection. Givenchy’s philosophy was: “Keep it simple. Eliminate everything that interferes with the line.” ...

Valentino has built his once small fashion house into a fashion empire.” (www.lifeinitaly.com/fashion/valentino-garavini.asp) His career in fashion started in the fifties but his passion for it began as a young child with the approval and encouragement of his parents. Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani was born in Italy in 1932 where he lived for 17 years until he left for Paris to study fashion at the famous school of L’ecole de la Chambre Syndicate de La Couture Parisenne. For Mr. Lauren, the starting point is always his concern for quality and attention to detail, while the creative drama comes from his own romantic sense of elegance and reverence for authencity. Always true to his own purely American vision of fashion, his products are nearly as diverse as the country that inspires them. He designs a wide range of products, including menswear, womenswear, boyswear, girlswear, home furnishing, eyewear, scarves, shoes, hosiery, fragrances, handbag, luggage and leather goods. And the stores that carry his products are located across the United States and around the world.
... ideas can be seen on the runway today over a century after his designs radically entered the fashion scene. Poiret experimented with new elements of style and design by using vibrant colors, draping fabrics, loose designs, and the use oriental-inspired designs. I believe that his designs were important because of his motivation to experiment with out of the ordinary radical design motives. His designs were illustrate many characteristics of the early art deco movement through the use of rich colors, lavish ornamentation, and emerging cultural changes. Though he left the prominence scene of fashion after WW1 I believe that most designers that came after his played off and were inspired by his creative and imaginative approach to design. Poiret paved the way towards modern fashion and gave woman the possibility to comfortably embrace a self-confident way of thinking.
In Deauville, she introduced casual knit dresses which was shockingly different from what others were creating and wearing. “She introduced relaxed dressing expressing the aspirations of the 20th century woman, replacing impractical clothing with functional styling.” (Martin 80). Her designs stressed simplicity and comfort and revolutionized the fashion industry. Within five years of her original use of jersey fabric to create a poor girl look, had attracted the attention of influential wealthy women seeking relief from the prevalent corseted style. In 1954, Chanel presented her new collection of the signature suit. The Chanel suit is a standard garment in modern fashion. “The key to her design philosophy was construction, producing traditional classics outliving each season’s new fashion trends and apparel.” (Martin
Fitzgerald does an astounding job of describing character appearances, and attire in his book which paints a clear picture for readers. Baz Luhrmann employed designers like Prada, and Tiffany and Brooks Bros. For the most part Luhrmann’s designers did fabulous work, and gave audiences a clear picture of clothing styles during the 1920s. Clayton also employed well-known designers like Ralph Lauren, Ballantine’s Scotch, and Kenzo. Nonetheless, Clayton’s production was more of a New York fashion show, than a film.
...t his collections are art pieces rather than clothes, simply by the detailed and effort he puts into every aspect of his work and shows. He takes time to carefully plan what this event will consist of and how to captive his viewers. I feel that Chanel and Galliano represent fashion simply by the impact and mark the have left in fashion, they aren’t well known for simply making a garment but by the way they think and how they presented their work to the world.
Introduction Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their everyday life. Some styles are influenced by vintage styles which are attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. Despite those different styles, some of them have even evolved into the milestones in fashion history. To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in the 1960s.
Clothing has been around for thousands of years; almost as long as the modern human has. At first, it served the practical purpose of protection from the elements; but, as life for early humans stopped being a constant struggle to survive, they started noticing how they looked and the concept of fashion began to take shape. These first few garments were typically dyed draped cloth that was pinned at the shoulder and/or waist. This was seen in many ancient civilizations around the world, Greek and Roman the most notable. Over time, clothing began to get more and more complex and formed to the body’s shape, eventually leading up to the tailored style we now have today. However, the sophisticated world of Haute Couture; or high fashion, can distinctly trace its roots to Paris during the mid-19th century.
