Gobetti, who was appointed President and CEO or Givenchy couture in 2004, was the first to reach out to Tisci to become part of the label. Tisci was announced Creative Director for Givenchy women’s couture and pret a porter in 2005. His designs in both areas are very similar yet unique in a distinct way. Both his teams support his efforts in trying to balance his style into these two areas. At first, Tisci was confused and struggled to be a fit in Givenchy because his style was very different. In 2008, he was appointed Creative Director of Givenchy menswear and accessories. Tisci reinvented Givenchy with youthful, edgy styles attracting celebrities including some of his clients: Beyoncé, Kanye West and Kim …show more content…
For example, in haute couture, he mostly uses lace and silk to provide a more erotic look. In his ready-to-wear, he’s famous for using a panther’s roar. For his NikeLab collaboration or his “Victorious Minatours” collection he uses the colors, red, white and blue relating to the NBA logo.

In 2017, Riccardo Tisci left Givenchy after working for them for twelve years. He started with them at the age of 28, which makes him the youngest haute couture designer ever. Riccardo has proved himself to many including his family of nine, who’s never missed one of his shows. His emotion and confidence has absolutely added a twist to high fashion. Bolden is more than just a stylist, he is also a visionary for creating fashion moments in addition to the aesthetics. He also aligns his ideas to help propel his client’s career. Bolden also works as a commentator for E! during red carpet events and is also a partner at a JSN Studio, a design firm along with his hubby interior designer Adair Curtis. According to him, his styling philosophy is to bring out his client’s individual personal style and philosophy.
He enjoys, what he calls the “Aha Moment” where the actor can see themselves, and understands their body language when they see their selves transform into their character. If the character is from a time period of the past, he goes as far as putting them in vintage panties or giving them a pocketbook with a handkerchief or a lipstick from that era. He wants his characters to feel as if they are from that time period as well. As far as being a designer he feels that there are certain guidelines he has to do for his work to come to life. Firstly, he said that he hasn’t changed his outfit in over thirty years and does not wear jeans.
With the show space resembling a laboratory—albeit one decorated in pale green and pink—the clothes appeared to have been thought up by some terribly chic scientist, as they featured impossibly smooth, icing-like fabrics; tweed prints; diagrammatic floral brooches; and reds, blues, and green that looked beyond the abilities of any Italian artisan. Yet, while Prada created this sense of unreal ugliness, it was underscored by a natural prettiness. Those impossible fabrics were actually double-faced jersey, real tweed was mixed with the printed, and those colours were offset by same delicate pastels found on the
Hubert de Givenchy was born on February 20, 1927 in Beauvais, France. When he was young his father died, leaving him to be raised by his mother and grandfather. His wealthy family never approved of Givenchy’s love for fashion and instead wanted him to attend college and pursue a career in law. Eventually he attended college achieving his career in law but realized his love for fabrics and fashion was stronger (In influential fashion, 2002).
After being ranked 8th in the world and having a known name in the sporting industry, he was easily contacted and hired for designing sports/surfing magazines and advertisements. In the interview conducted by Designboom, Carson stated that he had no real formal training in the design world, resulting in a lack of knowledge in basic design content (i.e. grids, formulas, schools of thought, etc.) (Designboom, 2014). But, with his early interest and education in sociology, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, he is easily able to work with real stories, real people, events, and music. When Carson is given the brief article that he must design around, or the client’s idea pitch, he just designs what he feels is right (Designboom, 2014). The more pieces he creates, the more experimental he gets. This act of fearlessness and adventuresome is what makes him such a desirable designer. Clients are confident that he will produce something unique, beautiful, and daring. Carson stated that his strongest skill is his “ability to speak visually and emotionally to a wide variety of audiences and topics” (Designboom, 2014). Carson has been in the design industry for many years and has worked with many varied clients, making his knowledge and level of creativity mastered. His curious, bold, and open-minded personality, plus his experimental, clever, and unique approach to design, has made the successful designer who he is
Massimo Vignelli was an Italian designer who worked in a varying range of areas such as package design, advertising, industrial, interior, architectural design and the list goes on. Vignelli was also the co-founder of Vignelli Associates, which he started with his wife Lella some years after coming to America. He has had works that have been published all around the world and throughout many museums as well.
People always ask me who my favorite designer is. I always find it to be a pretty impossible question. How can you choose between someone like Alexander McQueen and Channel, or what about the clothes I wear every day? I do not even know who designs most of those. I feel like there are too many designers with vastly different ascetics, yet, they are still so breathtakingly impeccable. So now, I choose Diana Vreeland. Although she did not design clothing, nearly her whole life was spent creating beauty and interest with a taste level that hit the sky. She also launched careers of countless people many still follow today and she created trend after trend with her worldly eccentric eye and not to mention an sensational appetite for originality and beauty.
Fashion has been around ever since ancient times, since the time of the Romans, it survived the world wars and is yet today a business with rapid changes. Fashion started off as an art form, a way for the rich to show their social status with unique and innovative designs that only they could afford. It was a way to separate the social classes of the society. In this paper I will include the creators of haute couture, and how the following designers developed couture, as well as leading names in today’s ready-to-wear industry. The list is long, but I chose to focus on the three most important designers in the modern fashion industry.
The aim of these collections is the attempt to de-emphasize biological differences between genders. And with the absence of gender markings, clothes are devoid of sexuality. We could take David Robert Jones, known as David Bowie, who was an English singer and actor, as an example; looking back his androgynous appearance seemed very radical but today he is still an icon of how two genders can exist in one personality. Bowie expressed his personality and identity not only through the way of living, but also through the way of dressing. Jo B. Paoletti, professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland in College Park, where she teaches courses related to everyday life, including fashion, claims “Fashion, you see, is in the mind. You have to think differently before you can dress differently. By changing their clothes, people risk changing their whole lives and they are frightened. “(2015: 68) This quote one more time proves the idea which goes through ages- there is a great importance of fashion in expressing one’s status, beliefs and sexuality. A lot of famous designers around the world create unisex or hybrid clothes in 2016, for instance such company as Burberry, with a chief creative officer, Christopher Baily, has presented spring/summer collection of androgynous clothing. The fact that one of the most influential fashion developers creates such clothes shows the popularity of gender- neutral dressing at present. Another example of gender- neutral collection that I would like to give is Zara. Zara is a Spanish clothing and accessories retailer based in Arteixo, Galicia. The company was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera. Its main aim from the day of establishment has been to reach out for so-called ‘common-people’, who cannot afford designers’ clothes, but wish to dress fashionably. So, in March of 2016 the brand has introduced a range of
From West Village and Fifth Avenue to Japan and Paris, Marc Jacobs offers his highly successful diffusion line, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Marc by Marc Jacobs delivers young men and women fun, fresh, and affordable semi-luxury apparel and accessories, such as a ring with cat ears, a ladybug cotton tee, a metallic leather coat, or a mini satchel bag. The designs mix modern conceptualism with influences from past decades and ads feature off-the-wall fashion photography. Some merchandise is limited edition or are special collaborations with other designers or artists giving customers special one of a kind designs while donating a percentage of profit to numerous charities and organizations. Marc by Marc is able to reach consumers on most social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Marc by Marc Jacobs’s brick and mortars, much like its website, are minimalist, contemporary, humorous, fresh and edgy with dominating hues of black, white, and blue.
Ralph Lauren is American's leading designer in the classic tradition, who has stayed true to his own point of view, despite the seasonal vagaries of fashion. Mr. Lauren has always believed that fashion is function of lifestyle. He believes that clothed should be natural, comfortable and elegant, for the way people live today. His clothes have timeless grace and become more personal and special age.
One of the most successful clothing brands in the world, Polo Ralph Lauren has built its success around more than just its line of luxurious designer clothes, but the company is one of the top marketing designers also. It was awarded “ Luxury Brand of the Year” in 2010 by the Luxury Daily. A company that was founded by a man named Ralph Lifchitz, better known as Ralph Lauren of the Bronx, New York in 1968. Since the age of 12, Lauren’s had a strong appeal and taste for looking classy. He would spend the money he earned working with his father after school, purchasing expensive suites. In his latter years, while working for a company called A. Rivetz & Co., Lauren began designing wide ties, the beginning of what latter evolved into the giant clothing empire known as Polo Ralph Lauren. The success of his designer ties caught fire quickly, retail giant Bloomingdales was the first company to endorse Ralph Lauren’s ties, but that ended quickly, when Lauren refused to narrow his ties, and stuck to his product line. Lauren’s success in the designer clothes business was unusual for someone who studied business at City College. In 1968, he founded the company Polo Fashions, a company that would later expand its market, and is among one of the top designer brands in the world today.
He is very trendy and is currently associated with a number of fashion labels including Lacoste. Lacoste is a French clothing line that sells clothing, footwear, perfumes, watches and other fashion accessories for men and

Fashion takes on many different facets and concerns many subsets— a model sashaying down the runway in a gown encrusted in real gems, Lady Gaga’s infamous dress made of cuts of raw beef, a teenage girl obsessing over the season’s latest styles— it is all an expression of our minds and who we are or want to be, made tangible. It is a medium just like any other, for while artists wield brushes and paints, designers use thread and cloth to illustrate their vision. The artistry is none more so apparent than in the exclusive world of haute couture, a world of extravagance that caters to aesthetics, producing one-of-a-kind wearable masterpieces that are made to be admired rather than worn. It is without doubt, high fashion and its design is an art.
