Kids these days are starting to join more and more club sports. The question is, whether or not club sports are starting to affect kids education and academics? Parents and teacher start to say that club sports are affecting kids education and academics. However, some people say that is one way to get a scholarship. Which is more important to you, being good at sports or being smart? Club sports take up a lot of time. Practices prepare your for competitions, but do those practices interrupt your study time. A study shows that over 50% of kids spend more time playing club sports than they do studying for school work. Studying is very important to school. If you have a big exam coming up you are going to want to be prepared for it. Instead of studying you are at practice. On top of that you may not get home until later and by then you will have to go to sleep. Teachers experimented GPA (grade point average) from a kid that doesn’t play any sports to a kid that play sports. A normal kids GPA is a 3.0 to 3.5 A kid who plays sports GPA is 2.0. GPA are very important to college. There is a better chance to get into college being smart than being good at sports. …show more content…

A high school student athlete from a division 1 school says,” after school and i go right to practice and then I don't get home till later and I still have 30 math problems still to do. Practices take up most of your time after school. High school students also say practices run very late and by the time you eat and shower it is time for bed because you have school the next morning. Also if there is a competition of a school day kids are responsible to make the time up on their own, but is that really part of responsibility for school?
