Choir lesson term 1
The first term of the choir lessons primarily consisted of the entire group learning songs as a choir with bass, tenor and soprano parts. We usually started with a singing warm up using arpeggiated patterns and scales this has helped me alot with my pitching something previously i was unsure about. I think this term of lessons has helped me build a confidence in my singing ability I didn’t previously have which in turn gave me the confidence to sing in front of an audience solo in the pop performance class.
Choir lesson term 2
This terms choir lessons changed so instead of the entire class performing as one choir we were split into separate smaller groups

The only comment i’d got from audience members was sometimes the piano was inaudible over the other instruments, to try remedy this in my next performances I played with more force and confidence on the piano which sorted the problem. An aspect i thought i could have improved upon was my stage presence, because of how nerves affected me at the beginning of the year I felt my performances were slightly wooden and emotionless but throughout this year I have grown more comfortable when performing in front of and audience so by the time of the final performance i feel my stage presence has …show more content…
One of the biggest problems with my group this year was the fact the drummer dropped out of uni close to the time of performance so the only person who could drum in the band was the lead singer and guitarist, because of this we had to get a new guitarist which meant we had relearn a lot of the songs. Because of this we had to put our backing vocalist who can’t pitch correctly on lead vocals which made performing harder because i’d sometimes struggle to hear what the correct pitch was. There was no main leader in the band all the decisions were made as a group so no one was left doing something they didn’t want to
Furthermore, our band had two concerts this semester. During our March concert, I was far more relaxed than my first concert. I felt that I played a lot better, and improved many aspects of my playing. However, I felt that I still needed to focus more on my dynamics, and listening to the rest of the band. In that concert we played Metrix, Water is Wide, Cold Mountain Saga, and Jungle Dance. Overall, our band improved, as we had better dynamics and articulation. However, we still were not together at times, and we sometimes ...
In addition to this, during a certain part of my monologue, the audience laughed and I did not expect that. As an actor I need to be aware that there will be moments like these and still be able to stay in character and continue on with the same dedication. After my performance, I was surprised by the feedback that I got from the class. The comments lifted my spirits about my performance and prompted me to trust the choices that I make in future performances. Yes, there is definitely room for improvement, but overall, I am pleased with
Choir is a form of musical art. It consists of four different types of groups, and each vocal ranges from highest to lowest. The way people in choir communicate with each other is when they harmonize, they learn about one another through the emotions of a song they sing in unison. Choir is not only for people who can sing, it is
On February 27, 2014 the Humberside Collegiate Choir performed 3 songs at the Ontario Vocal Festival (OVF) in the Mayfield Secondary School auditorium. This choir wore maroon sashes with their school logo around their waists so that they could be identified as a choir. This choir sang “Fair Phyllis”, “I Value My Country”, and “One Goal”.
Even if I didn’t make it, I don’t think anyone realizes what you learn when training in this profession. Musical theatre has allowed me to step up, commit to my work, become more confident and to have fun! You learn to become focused and pay more attention to detail. Building sets, reading scenes and learning music betters your communication and listening skills. All of these skills I have acquired over the last few years and I they are still helping me to grow. I think my biggest take away from this past summer is to become more confident as a person and in my work. Confidence is a big part of doing musical theatre. Some people having no confidence or a little too much. Trying to gain confidence has made me appreciate my body, the little things and what I do. I have already had many people come up to me at school and tell me that they’re loving my new glow confidence and love for myself. Overall, I see why people doubt the career, but they only consider the outside results. Musical theatre has made me the person I am today and I will never forget
My final winter concert has come and gone quicker than I could have possibly imagined. It was certainly one I will never forget because it was my very first time performing in every band and choir group. It was a very stressful night but having it perfectly planned and having help from many of my fellow performers definitely made me feel a lot more at ease. This concert definitely had it’s ups and downs and there are somethings that I wish went a lot better. However in the end, I did enjoyed performing and gave it a lot of effort.
Last Sunday I had the opportunity for the first time, to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir live. I was able to attend “Music and the Spoken Word” which is the longest continuous network broadcast in the world. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed with roughly 360 members and were conducted by Mack Wilberg. They were accompanied by a phenomenal organist, Richard Elliott. The organ he performed on has 5 keyboards, 11623 pipes and 32 footpedals.
English has never been my best subject. Reading books can be exciting, but the writing aspect of English can be dreadful. Somehow, however, I passed all my advanced English classes with at least a B, and my teachers always considered me to be “above average.” My impartiality toward English shifted to an indifference near the end of my high school career; my indifference then shifted to appreciation. This appreciation is attributed to American Studies and Honors Writing, the most difficult English classes at Belleville East Township High School. American Studies and Honors Writing have strengthened my writing skills beyond what I believed possible. I still do not believe that I am the best writer, and English may never be my best or favorite
...ning from group members to the individuals presenting information needed to be higher. Some group members (Joe and Ray) at times appeared to be confused during the program manager’s presentation. They would turn to John, who seemed to detect their confusion. He would paraphrased often to make sure all members understood, before moving forward to the next topic.
color to be their support (Chapman 319). Since there is such a need for more teachers for students of color to relate to, one would think that the White teachers would try to cross their own cultural barrier to connect with students of color. However, they instead apply the colorblind approach. In Henfield and Washington’s study, they wanted to explore how white teachers navigate their own diverse classroom. One common theme that was interesting was that white teachers would defend themselves when disciplining students of color. The student would tell the teacher that they are being singled out because of their race. The teachers would defend themselves by saying things such as “ [I’m] certainly treating them the same way as the others, but
From my perspective however, in the top leaders of the band, the drum majors, there was hardly productivity or leadership, even though I didn't want to leave the drumline, I forced myself to audition for drum major. From that point, I knew plans had to be made to augment the member's outlook on the rest of the season, from band activities, to spirit days along with many other fun things to help ease the tension. My hope was, by the end of the season, no matter the score, everyone would be happy with what the band had done and anyone feeling negative about marching band would feel
It is about 6:40 a.m. when my parents first hear me sing on a typical school day, and, since the acoustics in the bathroom are amazing, they can hear every note of the song. I have been singing since I learned to talk, and I joined my first choir in Kindergarten. Singing in a choir is something I will be doing until I die, whether it be with a professional or amateur ensemble. I have tried being a solo singer, and although I enjoy it, I find it more enriching to be a part of a choir when I sing. In the early years of singing in a choir, I thought this was a flaw. When I tell people I am in choir, I get the feeling that they think it is less impressive than being a solo singer. To them, it seems as though my choir is a crutch, a tool for covering up my own voice. However, singing as a soloist and singing in a group are two different activities that require slightly different skill sets. Although singing in my choir is my favorite of the two, I use both forms of singing to improve in both my regular life and my musical extracurriculars.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work in see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded. Some of the skills I had shocked me as I didn’t think I had those capabilities in me.
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
Much like Benjamin Franklin believed, I feel that a person should take advantage of the time the person has in life with activities a person wants to do or needs to do. A person should not spend much time on activities the person does not want to do. Life is way too short to concern oneself with work or other activities one wants nothing to do with all the time. When possible, I try to forget about my responsibility and just let go of the ‘things’ that do not matter to me. I think a person should try to occupy oneself with something productive, worthwhile, or necessary at all times. Even though a person’s life is left up to a person to live, I cannot imagine thinking that I owe my time to society through working a job that I simply despise. I am a compassionate person, but I do not owe anyone anything regarding my time.
