I think our team did a splendid job putting this project together. I believe that the use of Google docs help us to coordinate efficiently and make sure the project looked uniform. My individual contribution was the introduction, the heading, products and services, and some distinctive issues of Chipotle. I believe my collaboration as a team member was well balanced with the other members of the team. Along the way, we communicated and gave each other feedback on our sections to make sure we were on the same page. We had a team of four which was divided into the following sections. Karla Bacallao: heading, introduction, an overview of products and services and distinctive issues. Eva-Valentina Atwater: history, mission, target market, and
unique qualities. Astin Donovan: Corporate culture, target consumer market, and conclusion. Shantel Coughlin: News, finances, and recommendations. I think each member did an excellent job in their particular sections. At first, we had some challenges coordinating the project. However, after we all got familiarized with the software, we were able to communicate and coordinate the work.
1.1 Brief History Chipotle Mexican Grill was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1993. In 1998, McDonald’s became the majority shareholder; however, in 2006, McDonald’s divested its controlling interest. Chipotle became a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006. It currently has 1,083 locations across the United States and Canada. In May 2010, Chipotle expanded into Europe, opening their first restaurant in the United Kingdom.
nnsylvania, California, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Washington -- have become ill in the E. coli outbreak.
Chipotle Mexican Grill is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in the United States, which offers burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads. It is one of my favorite restaurants to visit.
Chipotle is my favorite place to eat. As I am sure it is for other people. Chipotle is a fast food Mexican grill. They are most known for how big they make your burritos. Now it is fast food but it isn’t actually fast, they’re like a restaurant but without the wait. They serve all naturally raised meat and organic beans. So there food is pretty healthy and worth eating. The employees are always nice and it just a great place to eat over all. Chipotle is a great choice for a quick fast food stop because it gives great service, atmosphere, food and value. My experience there is always a good one.
Steve Ells founded Chipotle in 1994. When the company first opened its first restaurant, their model of business was a first of its kind. They operated a restaurant business that lies between fast food restaurant and fine dining. The management of the company pride in providing the customers with food services in a fast manner without necessarily the customers experiencing the literal fast food services experience (Ragas & Roberts, 2015). According to the company, their services are high-quality fine dining but delivered in a fast manner synonymous with the common fast-food experience. That model of business practiced by Chipotle has come to be referred as casual restaurant business model.
A. Attention getter- Do you Know that Chipotle uses organic ingredients and naturally raised chicken, pork and beef?
As you know, Chipotle values our “food with integrity” promise and our customers respect that. However, the recent E Coli outbreak has caused Chipotle’s financial performance and reputation to suffer significantly and staying with our current business model is not our best option. Therefore, I recommend we rebrand and reposition Chipotle to ensure our long-term success.
Demographically Chipotle focuses the majority of its sales on individuals between 18 and 24 years old which is the same as Taco Bell (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2013). This could potentially be correlated to the on the go, fast paced life styles that is typical for this age demographic. Chipotle offers a customizable menu that that appeals to the young adult that is constantly on the move and have a tighter budget. Chipotle’s marketing strategies appeal to the young adult through their social media platform campaigns that gain the attention of the young adult. Millennials have had a large influence on the growth of the company that has locations “located at various location types such as end of row shops, shops
When Chipotle first opened in 1993, the goal was to serve quality food fast, but not be considered “fast food.” To avoid falling under the fast food stigma, Chipotle strives to find the best ingredients with respect to animals, farmers, and the environment. In order to achieve these goals, Chipotle has created a matrix organizational structure that is divisional by location and functional by authority. Chipotle recently expanded internationally to the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, each following strict guidelines assigned by corporate employees from their headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Similarly, each location is functionally organized according to authority: regional manager, district manager, store manager, assistant manager, and
The fast-casual restaurant is one of the most competitive and fastest growing industries in the world. Chipotle has thought to have reinvented this category and this has led to their explosive growth in the early stages of the company. As it has leveled off, however, one can see where mistakes have been made leading to the sharp decline in their sales and stock. Starbucks has continued to grow, but has also seen declines in their stock. Comparing these companies, one can see how each have went from standalone stores to market leading companies. They must continue to innovate otherwise they will be seen as just another restaurant and no longer see growth.
Chipotle first opened its doors in Denver, Colorado in 1993, setting out to create a new experience for the fast food diner. They put together a simple equation of fast, fresh and high-quality ingredients and looked to change how people viewed fast food forever. Their simplistic approach has expanded across the years and although they still strive for the same fast, fresh and high- quality concept their views have expanded to include sustainability as one of their main pillars.
In 1993, Steve Ells’s passion for the culinary arts led him to open the first Chipotle Mexican Grill in Denver, Colorado. Ells had a vision and strategy to operate his own business, and he did not give up until he achieved exactly what he wanted. Ells’s strategy was established on five elements including: a focused menu, high-quality, operation efficiency/interior setting, friendly people, and awareness and respect for the environment. Taking off rather quickly, and maintaining popularity helped Chipotle climb to the top in the fast-casual segment of the food market.
In the end, my team and I got an A- for our presentation and paper. I believe that this project was completely successful and although there were some difficult times throughout the process, I am proud to say that we all stayed committed to the project. I feel that this was my most significant leadership experience because I used everything I learned through my experience in business organizations to make this project come to life. I felt that I showed the qualities of a good leader because I was determined, motivated, worked well with the team, delegated tasks to the team effectively, and communicated with the team to make this project
In conclusion, I really did enjoy the this group project. We had great group chemistry, an interesting topic, an effective and consistent preparation period. That sounds like a formula to a successful group project to me. This is probably the most enjoyable group work experience for me at Augustana so far. If I could, I would do it
It is important to have the whole team involved and every team member should about the status of the project and identify there responsibility towards the project success.
