Purpose: Today, many media programs, promotes things that are supposed to be “beneficial” to all ages, but the dirty truth is that not all media is “beneficial” to anll ages, but yet many parents don't understand the full story of both the “educational benefits and severe impacts”. Recommendations: Screen Time guidelines says children under age 2 should have no screen time. Limit screen time to 1 to 2 hours a day for children over age 2. Despite what the ads may say, videos that are aimed at very young children do not improve their development. Ages 2 according to nlm.nih.gov should have no screen time, it it the important for brain development. Some screen media has been proven “beneficial” but still make many claims that are non sustained by research. There is no supporting evidence that any type of screen time is beneficial to babies, there is a big difference between a claim and when someone says something. About 56% of parents trust that baby videos are beneficial to their child. Research also says that young children use or have access to interactive books or e-books have been linked to lower levels of story understanding and may obstruct aspects of emergent literacy. Discovery: About 29% of the average babies under the age of 1 are watching an average of about 90 minutes of screen time on any particular day. Studies show that 23% have their own television in their own room. As babies progress, the screen time also increases. Studies show that by a child's first and second birthday, about 64% of babies and toddlers have gone about two hours over than the recommended screen time. Researchers say that “the amount of time preschool children spend with media” can vary, but “most conservative findings show that children between the ages of two and five average to about 2.2 hours per day” of screen time.
