Introduction
The number of fast food chain locations is steadily increasing becoming a staple for some families because less expense and convenience. The companies have built themselves in highly populated areas to gain business. One item most fast food chains have on their menu are the popular, French fries. The options we chose for the survey were Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Chick-fil-a and Cane’s. However, we had to limit the options of the fast food chains by criteria of saltiness, quality, quantity, shape, taste, texture and fastest time served. With a large amount of UTA Students who eat french fries gathering information will be uncomplicated. We hypothesize Chick-fil-a french fries will be the overall favorite, with variation in the criteria.

From the packaging to the aftertaste, we made sure to include major points in the fry eating process. Starting with the location and convenience of each fast food restaurant, we wanted options easy and manageable for UTA students due to their role in the survey our group created, and the fact they were our target audience. The customer service and speed of the fast food chain was our next focal point. The process of ordering and receiving the fries plays a leading role in where most people go to get their fry of choice. We also believed the texture, saltiness, shape, and chewiness are the main components of what makes a french fry great, so we made these factors the focal point of our …show more content…
There are French fries served crunchy or hard, and there are also those which are soggy and soft. The perfect, in-between chewiness is what we asked our audience to look for. Which fast food franchise's French fries have the BEST TEXTURE?
The purpose of this test was to indicate which fast food franchise’s French fries have the best texture, according to our audience. Most often, French fries are served plain with no interesting texture to add to the appearance of the fry. Chick-Fil-A won this category by far, racking 53% of the votes, while Cane’s came in second with 19%, McDonald’s claimed third place with 14%, and Wendy’s was rated the worst with just 14%.
Which fast food franchise's French fries have the BEST AFTERTASTE?

Schlosser, Eric. "Chapter 5: Why the Fries Taste Good." Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal. New York, NY: Harper Perennial, 2005. Print.
Fast food has infiltrated every nook and cranny of American society. Everywhere you turn you can see a fast food restaurant. An industry that modestly began with very few hot dog and hamburger vendors now has become a multi-international industry selling its products to paying customers. Fast food can be found anywhere imaginable. Fast food is now served at restaurants and drive-through, at stadiums, airports, schools all over the nation. Surprisingly fast food can even be found at hospital cafeterias. In the past, people in the United States used to eat healthier and prepared food with their families. Today, many young people prefer to eat fast food such as high fat hamburgers, French-fries, fried chicken, or pizza in fast
This chapter focuses solely on why fast food, fries in particular, taste so good. Schlosser informs his audience of exactly what they are eating when they order a large french fry at McDonalds. The fries may start out as fresh potatoes, but what many don’t know is how fresh potatoes factually turn into the famous french fry.
Fast food restaurants in America can be located on almost every street corner in almost every city. The enticing aroma of a burger and fries can be found at several locations in nearly every city, town, or suburb. According to Alaina Mcconnel, the 5 most popular fast food restaurants of 2011 are McDonalds, Subway, Starbucks, Wendy’s and Burger King (Mcconnell, A., & Bhasin, K., 2012). Fast food joints have a ruthless history of being fattening, greasy, and unhealthy with films like Super-Size me and Food Inc. giving the...
Like the vast majority of Americans, I’ve eaten at a fast food restaurant before. Maybe the tables were sticky, or chicken was suspiciously white, but the fries tasted great, so I’d overlook the less enjoyable aspects of my experience. After reading Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, I understand that isn’t an option anymore. In ways both big and small, the fast food industry exerts a ridiculous amount of power over the American consumer, and it’s imperative that this be understood, should any impactful changes be made. As it stands now, the fast food industry is in dire need of reform, as it poses innumerable health and societal risks to the country and the world.
From a study completed by Chicago-based Research International USA completed a study called “Fast Food Nation 2008. The panel consisted of 1,000 respondents of ages 16-65 who provided their inputs with an online survey which was conducted between March 13 through 2008. Which was based on results on fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s are gaining popularity even through the economic hardship and recession. Marketing strategy has become more of influence on kids and young American’s. As population grows and the demand increases of fast food restaurants are expanding their stores to capturing more consumers. Fast food chains are also willing to change their menus to continue to gain and retain repeating customers. With each generation that passes, brings fast food chains into more homes and continues impacting lives.
The food at Chick-Fil-A is delicious. Everything that they serve is made fresh every single day. It is also one of the healthiest choices for a fast food restaurants. They cook their food with refined peanut oil, which is 100 percent trans-fat free. Their original chicken sandwich is a game changer, nothing beats its crispiness. Let’s not forget their unique product, their waffle cut fries, they are not only rare but also healthy. Chick Fil A only adds a dash of salt which enhances the potatoes natural flavor without washing it out. Looking for a healthier
The fries people eat today are so unnatural that each fast food place has a different taste. "Their distinctive taste does not stem from the type of potatoes, that McDonald’s buys, the technology that processes them, or the restaurant equipment that fries them"(Schlosser 119). McDonald’s and other companies use fries now with distinguished taste, one that is different than its competitor. They also put chemicals in other things like their milk shakes and burgers. Almost everything there is chemically enhanced.
When researching McDonald’s through online sources, it is clear that nutrition is a major concern of the public visiting the fast-food chain. Secondary research conducted shows that there are several case studies and other secondary source searches around the same topic. McDonald’s has often been the center of nutritional attention within the fast-food industry. Secondary research shows that the restaurant has recently made changes to the American Happy Meal to reduce the amount of French fries offered and replace the portion with fruit (Strom, 2011). In a study conducted by McDonald’s a secondary source reports the meal cuts calories by 20% for the children’s meal (Strom, 2011). This is a critical move by the organization on children’s obesity is currently a hot topic within food chains and attention is driven by the Obama administration. Secondary research also shows that although the public has major health concerns with the food chain, profits are increasing during a high point of an economic recession (Dahan & Gittens, 2008). Over the last three decades, fast food has infiltrated every nook and cranny of American society and has become nothing less than a revolutionary force in American life. Fast food has gained a great popularity among different age groups in different parts of the globe, becoming a favorite delicacy of both adults and children.
French fries are my favorite fast food item. Sometimes, I don't even need chicken tenders or a burger. I just need those darn fries. I have recently been presented the question, ¨What is the best fast food restaurant in Springfield, Missouri?¨. Well, my friend, I present Culvers. Culver's has the best french fries by far. They have the right amount of salt. They're always warm. The fries that I find anywhere else are always too salty, or not salty enough. Or they are too soggy. The fries from Culver's have the perfect balance of everything. I will always love Culver's and their fries because of their promise for good, natural, Midwestern sourced food items.
We can all agree that each of us have our own particular favorite fast food restaurant. The fast food industry has really opened up and added a variety of food that you can quickly grab on the go. This makes it hard for the average American to ignore, because everyone is looking for the quickest and simplest ways to get things done in this fast paced
The fast-food industry is changing everyday. There are new products being introduced in the market and new slogans being created. The companies in the fast-food industry will do their best to make the greater burger, and to make bigger and better fries.
The charts do an excellent job representing what’s in the text. The article says that “major chains with relatively low scores: sandwich shops Arby’s and Quiznos and pizza joints Domino’s and Pizza Hut. (773) On the main dish taste chart, Arby’s was last in its category, and Domino’s was fifth in its category. (778)
But with the change of taste and preference, fast food chains like Windy, Taco Bell, and McDonald's have introduced SALAD into their menus. This preference is not stopping with salads. In 2002, McDonald’s introduced great tasting new products including premium salads, n salads plus menu; Chicken McNuggets made with white meat; Fish McDippers; Chicken Selects; and new breakfast offerings like the McGriddle sandwiches. Here as a fast food chain, McDonald did not have to introduce new dishes in their menus but with the impression and image in the market analysis, of increasing demand and changing preference in tastes and dishes has made them bring the changes.... ...
