Cheryl Smink had dreamed of opening her own advertising agency ever since she was nine years old. Being positive in uncontrollable aspects of life may be hard at times; however, positively embracing one's circumstances will always lead to a better outcome. Along with aiding in overcoming unplanned obstacles, positivity is led by a better outlook on life. Being positive is a choice that has to be made every day. Some may think that when life gets you down, there's no getting back up; in reality, looking at the world with a positive, verses a negative, attitude leads to success. Thousands of people have conquered wars, poverty, and even depression by switching over to a positive outlook on life. If everyone viewed the world from a positive standpoint then there would be an abundance of happiness and joy. The way individuals view life and the world around them is greatly influenced by attitude and so are the
opportunities available to them. Beaming positivity increases chances for scholarships, jobs, or even love. If someone were to sulk into an interview with their head down, no hope of getting the job, they wouldn't even be a contender compared to the person who brightened everyone's day with their vibrant attitude and winning personality. Positivity is refreshing to people who give out scholarships and potential employers. A vast amount of opportunities will find their way to the individuals who radiate positivity at every turn. I have examined and analyzed the COVERGIRL™ NatureLuxe advertisement that uses common feminine stereotypes. In this advertisement, COVERGIRL™, which runs in Seventeen magazines, targets women through their choices of colors, fonts, and images used. Certain stereotypes are used; such as, those who are more feminine tend to prefer lighter, happier colors, such as pink. Also, the use of a celebrity, who many young women look to as an icon, assists in the advertisement of the COVERGIRL™ product. COVERGIRL™, more than likely, is able to successfully market their lip-gloss product in the United States by using common gender stereotypes to show femininity and how those, mainly women, should be presented in today’s society.

In an attempt to expand the companies influence Jumpman23 uses professional baseball player Derrick Jeter to send its message and promote its apparel. In the essay “Absolution for Sale,” Charity Miller writes, “We live in a world of images. Among the most persuasive and insistent of these images are those directed at us by advertising. These images often do more then simply try to persuade us to buy a particular product or use a particular service. Google, a world-renowned search engine has been using this reflection mentality in a multitude of its commercials. In 2011, the company released a commercial promoting its internet browser, Google Chrome (Nudd). This commercial, “Dear Sophie Lee,” was one of Google’s first, and it became an instant classic (Nudd). It was part of a string of advertisements centered upon the Chrome browser (Nudd). For her thesis paper, Ms.Vanessa To of Ryerson University compared a few of the Google commercials based on their likes and comments on YouTube. Her analysis showed people were more than ten times more likely to have a positive reaction to the video than a negative one (To). The average American is exposed to hundreds of advertisements per day. Advertisements targeted toward females have an enormous effect on women's thoughts, attitudes, perceptions, and actions. Most of the time, women don't even realize these advertisements are formulating self-image issues. These ideals surround them daily and they become naturalized to the ads. Advertising creates an entire worldview persuading women to emulate the images they see all around them. In order to create a market for their products, companies constantly prey upon women's self esteem, to feel like they aren't good enough just the way they are. For one to survive, one needs to have hope, faith, and the ability to flow throughout their life. A survivor who thrives has hope, allowing them to keep their head up high no matter the consequences. Hope is like one giving their consent to be knocked down because they know they will still be able to get up. Too many times people have given up on themselves because they believe there is nothing left to be done, they lack hope. For example
