people. There are many ways to teach young children to spell. for example, the sight word is good example how to teach a child to spell. using sight word in index card help I children to recognized or remember the word very fast because we uses it our daily life . my niece whom in kindergarten is struggling how to spell, her teacher gave a sigh word to practice reading and writing every day. and by practicing, she is improving much better now than before. in other way children learn to spell is by their visual memories, pattern words, sigh words, et.. However, children also uses the phonemic structure for example sound or activity to help them spell a words. I highly agree with book in chapter five as it said teacher should recognize that each child have stage of spelling development when they are making their lesson plan. Because some children learn to spell when they are in first grade and when they started reading but others do not begin spelling until they are in higher grade level a year. children learn their alphabetic letter first and so it will help them to spell .Teacher should also teach children by using their strategies to think out before spell any unfamiliar words. As it stated in article How Spelling Supports Reading by Louisa Moats" students can develop a deep understanding of English by studying the meanings of roots, prefixes, and suffixes; families of related words" which mean that their primary responsibility for children to learn how to spell it rule or strategies. In conclusion, teaching children how to spell is very important because it help them to improve their writing system to became better writer and reader. It is also their basic foundation needed throughout his or her life especially in their a education.. There are many children who struggle with their spelling words and I believed there are effective ways to improve children spelling for example the sigh words, it is best things for early learn to start to spell by using it with variety activity and game puzzle or pattern words.
Furthermore to make the Writer’s Workshop successful the students must have intensive and daily independent writing time. During that time the children will work on tasks they learned in the mini-lesson. Some of the writing time should be silent thinking and writing time, while the other time can be quiet writing times when the students can talk in soft voices. Students should always know they are never finish writing in writing workshop, they either work on a draft, revise pieces, or start a new writing (Rog
Lila is a second grade student who participated in a Primary Spelling Inventory and the reflection of her results are as follows. After her spelling inventory was finalized I noted that the student spelled ten of the twenty-six words correctly giving her a power score of 10/26. Most of the words that she mastered was in the Late emergent and early of Letter Name Alphabetic stage. I also noted that Lila accomplished 36 features out of 56 total features during her spelling inventory. Based on the results of the Primary Spelling Inventory the orthographic features that Lila recognizes are the consonants, short vowel, blends, and is familiar with diagraphs. Although she mastered blends which falls in the late Letter Name-Alphabetic stage she failed to master diagraphs which is the middle stage.
Thinking about a topic to write about is not always easy, and sometimes the process of writing can end up being difficult. Jennifer Jacobson discusses strategies to overcome the struggles that young writers can encounter while writing. I was interested in her book No More “I’m Done!” Fostering Independent Writers in the Primary Grades because I feel like as a future teacher this could be a frequent problem among students. From reading this book, I hoped that I would learn useful strategies that I could use to help students overcome their problems with writing. After reading this book, I do believe that Jacobson has provided me with plenty of methods to use. I was surprised at the depth that she goes into in her text. There is a vast amount
Phonemic Awareness and Alphabetic Principle in addition to Phonics and Decoding Skills provide students with early skills of understanding letters and words in order to build their reading and writing skills. Students will need to recognize how letters make a sound in order to form a word. While each word has a different meaning to be to format sentences. While reading strategies for Reading Assessment and Instruction, I was able to find three strategies for Phonemic Awareness and three strategies for Alphabetic Principles which will provide advantage for the student in my research and classroom settings.
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essay is what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For example, if the essays topic is about how the earth is affected by global warming, then the brainstorming ideas might include the ozone lair being reduced or how global climate has raised. The third step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating the rough draft. The first draft must have all the features the final will, but does not have to be...
Four phases of reading development have been established (Ehri 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999) : pre-alphabetic, partial alphabetic, full alphabetic and consolidated alphabetic. These phases has led to the core understanding of children's reading development, apart from the pre-alphabetic phase phonological awareness skills are seen throughout the phases.

Writing is an incredible characteristic in every culture. Anybody can express their feelings through writing, and can learn by visually seeing words on a page. The power of writing is amazing. My area of study is elementary education in the 4th grade setting, and I will be focusing on writing. There are many “best practices,” in the 4th grade setting and Santrock talks about many of them, but the one that stands out the most is free-write. Along with free-write another set of authors, Darch and Simpson, created a program for spelling tests.

Writing papers has been one of my biggest fears as a student. High school English class prepared me for the editing of my essays, for example, grammatical errors, spelling, font errors, and things that were under the category of fixing my paper. I realized that the writing process requires more than just editing, you have to understand that the paper is like a human body, it cannot function if every single part is not effective. I can certainly say that I have improved as a writer a great deal and this portfolio and the final revised drafts of my work certainly can argue for that. English 101 was certainly different from my other English classes; we actually focused on different parts of the writing process in each class instead of wasting our time discussing the same components of the process over and over again. As I reflect on my experiences throughout the semester of English 101 I am aware that I have met very important requirements of writing that I feel were very valuable for me as a student and my writing has improved progressively.
The two group will get different treatment. The experimental group will be taught by using picture series as the treatmen to improve students’ ability in writing, whereas the control group will be taught by using conventional way or using text book.

From observations, phonics changes in significance by children becoming more fluent readers and progressively accurate spellers. This is supported by Rose, (2006) who outlines that at KS2 the focus of phonics changes from learning to read to reading to
The first stage Jennings, Caldwell and Lerner (2010) mentioned is Logographic or the visual cue reading stage. You will often hear a mothers say that her child can read because he or she recognizes words of famous landmarks. This is because they recognized word using only visual cue (pg. 191). They then shift to the second stage of partial alphabetic stage or phonic cue recoding stage. In this stage, children have a working knowledge of the alphabet. Jennings, Caldwell and Lerner (2010) made clear that children are not reading whole words but are only looking at the first and last part of words and also mostly relying on pictures and context (pg. 192). From this stage, children move into the full alphabetic stage. Jennings, Caldwell and Lerner (2010) say by then they are paying attention to the pattern of words and how vowels are situated (pg. 192). The last stage is big accomplishment in reading. Known as the sight word reading stage children automatically recognize words without chunking or sounding out. It is within this stage that comprehension takes place.
