Regulation of care provision
Criminal records Bureau
When children or young people are cared for by others, certain guidelines must be followed. Individuals who have contact with the child will be separated by the criminal records Bureau (CRB) and the locations or setting will be inspected by the local authority and/or by the office for standards in education (OFSTED).
Strengths
The strengths of CRB checks are that it confirms whether an existing or prospective employee has a current UK criminal conviction or not. It also gives a more informed recruitment decision and ensures that inappropriate people are not employed. CRB’s protect children from abuse for example work places make sure they recruit employees who have not a criminal record

and they have employed appropriate people. This is working well because children and young people will be safe from harm. Weaknesses CRB’s get checked every four years, this is a weakness because within that period of time a care worker could abuse a service user and not get caught.
Also a care worker could change their identity if they have had a criminal record before. This is not working well because a child or a young person could be at risk of physical, sexual or emotional abuse in the care home.
General teaching council for England
The general teaching council for England is the professional regulatory body for teachers. There is a distinct General Teaching council for Scotland and Northern Ireland. They have a professional code of conduct and practice for registered teachers, which sets morals by which all teaching staff should be measured.
Strengths
The teacher’s code of conduct is strength because it promotes professional behaviour for members of staff. This also notifies teachers to maintain high standards of personal behaviour at all times. Again this is a strength because they will respect the wishes and aspirations of parents, guardians and carers of students. Children will be safe from harm because teachers will be following the code of conduct.

Weaknesses There can be a weakness because sometimes a class full of 27 students can turn into 10 students which may could show that the quality of teaching is not good or up to standards. This is not good because if Ofsted heard of this or saw that there is a class of only ten students in a class when there should be 27 they would assume that the quality of teaching is not up to standards. General social care council The professional regulatory body for social care workers has codes of practice that set guidelines for workers in social care.
There is a list of those who are qualified to work in the sector. For example care workers make sure that they wash the
Strengths
This is a strength because care workers in day care centres are meeting relevant standards of practice and work in a lawful, safe and effective way. Doing this will protect young people. Day care centres support and encourages individuals to do as much for themselves as possible to maintain their independence and physical ability and encourages people with disabilities to maximise their own potential and independence.
Weakness
There can be weaknesses because some day care centres for children and young people do not always have enough staff, which can make it difficult for a member of staff to handle them all, plus she may not notice that a child is not itself or behaving different, or is upset and needs attention from the carer, the career working by themselves may not notice this because she is working under pressure.
Office for standards in education (OFSTED)
This government department inspects and controls any setting that provides care and education which includes child-minders, schools, nurseries, day care and out-of-school care and crèches.
Strengths Ofsted inspects and controls schools this is a strength because children are at a high risk of being protected from possible abuse. Ofsted make sure that teaching is up to standard and watch to see if teachers are following the appropriate guidelines. Ofsted inspections push teachers to always do the right thing and follow their code of conduct. This is working well because student will be protected from harm. Weaknesses Ofsted inspections happen every 2 and half years, during that period of time abuse can still happen. To improve this they should show up unexpectedly so that if abuse happens again they would be alert and do something about it. Therefore children and young people will be protected from abuse. My judgements are for looked after children and young people are individuals with their own personalities, needs and experiences. Some are looked after for short periods, some return home, some are adopted and some remain looked after for many years until they reach adulthood. The main thing they have in common is that life has not been easy for them. For most, some aspect of their life circumstances has led to a Children’s Hearing or a court deciding that some form of compulsory intervention is required.
There are many times when a care order has to be put in place and it happens because the authorities believe that it is the best thing to do for the child’s overall wellbeing. When the care order is put in place it will mean that the
Children’s Social Care work with parents and other agencies to assess the stages of child protection procedures, record information and make decisions on taking further action. The police work closely with this agency to act on decisions made such as removing a child or the person responsible for the abuse while gathering evidence and carrying out investigations regarding the matter. Health professionals have a duty to report suspected non-accidental injuries to Children’s Social Care and examine children to give evidence of abuse. The Children Act 2004 requires every local area to have a Local Safeguarding Children Board to oversee the work of agencies involved in child protection, place policies and procedures for people who work with children and conduct serious case reviews when children die as a result of abuse. The NSPCC is the only charitable organisation that has the statutory power to take action when children are at risk of abuse. They provide services to support families and children and two helplines for children in danger and adults who are concerned for a child’s safety. They also raise awareness of abuse, share their expertise with other professionals and work to influence the law and social policy protect children more efficiently. There are also acts in place to protect children such as the Children Act 1989, the United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child 1989, the Education Act 2002 and the Children Act 2004. Legal framework from such acts are provided for Every Child Matters which requires early years practitioners to demonstrate that they provide activities that help children protect themselves. This may be through books and group talks known as “Stranger
Childcare centers are regulated by the government. Many states also have education and training requirements for teachers and caregivers.
In my opinion, day care workers have many challenges. The kids ranging from two to

An individual as a caregiver has more one-on-one time with a child as long as their group of children is small. A child could form a stronger bond with a smaller setting and possibly have less separation anxieties to deal with. Some parents feel the time spent with one person could benefit their child more than being with multiple caretakers. The cost of a caregiver usually is less than the traditional day care centers because there is less overhead, but there are not as many opportunities available to them. If a caregiver becomes ill or needs to take a vacation, it is the parent’s responsibility to have a back up to take care of the child during that time. A child with many health problems would possibly not be exposed to as many germs at an individual’s house because they would not come into contact with as many other children on a daily basis. On the other hand, individuals may be more lenient and allow children that are ill to attend. This could be a problem if the parents do not have family or friends that would or could care for the child during this time. A parent may have to miss work entirely to take care of the child, and with the loss of income could put the whole family at risk. A child may have problems at a babysitter such as discipline, allergies, other children, but unless they mention it to the parents they will not...
Furthermore, they have introduced a human rights approach, which is to respect diversity, promote equality help to ensure that everyone using health and social care services receives safe and good quality care. Human rights approach will help to apply the principle of promoting equality. The CQC have a process in which you answer five key questions to consistently integrate human rights into the way they regulate, which healthcare providers must work alongside. They also have equality objectives which were introduced in 2017, the objectives are, person-centred care and equality, accessible information and communication, equal access to pathways of care and to continue to improve equality of opportunity for our staff and those seeking to join CQC, as well as patients. At winterbourne view residential home, abuse and neglect had been made clear to the public eye and could clearly be identified, although no staff logged it as a safe guarding adult
Working Together to Safeguard Children, March 2015: A guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Having a safe and healthy childcare setting is one of the most important duties in a daycare. Educators practising good healthy procedures is a good way for children to learn about healthy choices as educators are, good role models.
A normal day for a daycare facility is to have many classrooms full of students like a typical public school; however, they are younger children and are being supervised by an adult. That adult is responsible for, on average, four to ten students at any given time, ages ranging from zero to six. During that time, a lot can happen. These busy workers have many responsibilities throughout the day. The most important one is safety. Because these children are so young, they are also adventurous therefore need a lot of attention. Daycare workers have to spend much time supervising these children while performing other tasks throughout the day. Not only do children need to be supervised to be safe, but they also need to have a safe, clean and presentable environment that the daycare workers of the facility are to maintain. One way to keep things clean is to sanitize, in which is a big task of these workers. Children are always putting things in their mouth and then passing it off to other kids; therefore, sanitation is a big deal in these types of facilities. Another responsibility that daycare providers have are to enforce rules. When rules are broken, these providers are to then enforce discipline policies. These can sometimes become an issue seeing that these providers are not the parents of the children thus they have to consult with the parents on certain discipline techniques to use on specific children. On the other hand, these providers are similar to parents in the sense that they wash children's clothing and clean up after every child. In addition to all the other responsibilities, daycare providers also have to maintain current, accurate and confidential client files per child. These files are to consist of observations and r...

Child care is a rewarding and yet demanding career. These demands come from an abundance of sources: consistent changes to rules and regulations, requests from parents, and the forever evolving needs of a child in your care. Not only should these demands help solidify you as a growing early childhood professional, there are also plenty of other demands that can significantly affect your career choice. These include educational levels, levels of hands-on training, personal interests, family obligations, values, abilities, and your individual professional priorities.
Commission for Social Care Inspection (2005) Making Every Child Matter, Commission for Social Care Inspection
In closing, you now understand the different types of child care and how child care can affect a child’s psychological, social, and cognitive development. You now recognize that any type of child care can be effective as long as the provider is qualified in care giving.
With all said and done, I think day-care is not a bad place for a child to be after all, as long as no one takes advantage of the situation. This means that the people supervising the children in day-care centers should not take advantage of their parents’ absence to mistreat them, and neither should the parents use day-care as an excuse not to spend quality time with their young ones.
