Road accidents can occur due to various reasons. Usually such accidents are not caused intentionally. Accidents result due to a combination of different factors such as: (i) Weather (ii) Road factors (iii) Driver & Violation of the rules (iv) Condition of the vehicle. (i)Weather: Bad weather is also one of the biggest causes of road traffic accidents. Bad weather such as heavy rain, snow or fog can cause bad visibility. Also due to bad weather poor friction on road surfaces which lead to skidding/vehicles not able to stop and break in time and collide with each other or other objects. (ii) Road factors: The other important factors about the traffic accident are road factors. The roads …show more content…
(iii)Driver & Violation of the rules: One of the most important factors about the traffic accidents is violation of the rules which can be with exceeding speed limit, using alcohol. Exceeding speed limit causes great accidents because with this exceeding driver loses the control of his driving and then occur accidents which even result in deaths. Violation of the rules can also be with using alcohol before driving. After getting alcohol, driver cannot pay attention to the road. Drivers which are not sleep properly are also sometimes leads to accident. Because of this they do not pay their full attentions to the road and they even fall asleep while they are driving. Unsafe overtaking, not stopping at the red traffic light and other common disregards of road rules. Drivers lacking of knowledge is the other factor which causes accidents.. The drivers who have got their licenses from bad driving courses cause traffic accidents because they become drivers without having enough knowledge about driving, signs and traffic …show more content…
Well maintained signs are important as they help to drivers to make good decisions. Fig 3.2: National Highway-70 with Sign Board Source: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=road%20amb%20una. So, in sign inventory we study about the different types of signs and their proper position where it is require. And Maintenance of signs are also very important. 3.3.2 Analysis of Secondary data using WSI (Weighted Severity Index) method: In this accident data is needed, which we can collect from the related area Police stations. And to analysis the secondary data we use the WSI method. Weighted Severity Index, (WSI) = (5 x K) + (3 x GI) + (1 x MI) Where, K is the number of persons killed, GI is the number of grievous injuries, MI is the number of minor
People do not realize how much of a problem drinking and driving can cause, not only in the United States but all over the world. In 2009, 1.4 million drivers have been arrested, but the influenced by alcohol or drugs. There is a very high percentage of motorcycle fatalities and about a third of them are alcohol accidents and there levels are above legal
Alcohol is causing too many deaths. Each year, excessive drinking is responsible for the deaths of 80,000 people in the United States, 4,700 of which are young Americans (6). Alcohol by itself is dangerous; this danger is (made greater) when individuals consuming it are allowed to drive a vehicle. Research has shown that a pedestrian struck by a vehicle moving at 40 miles an hour has a fifty percent chance of getting killed as a result of the impact (9). A distracted or impaired driver will not be able to react as fast as a non-impaired driver, meaning a drunk driver is a more dangerous driver than a sober one.
Drivers who speed often do not realize the enormous danger they are creating. When someone is speeding they have a higher braking time and are often going too fast to notice all of their surroundings, and fail to take all of the safety precautions a driver should use. Road conditions play a large role in the effects of speeding. Choosing to speed can also get a person’s license taken away, cost a fortune, or both.
This means that the drivers are essentially driving around on the road blindly (“What” 1). Texting while driving causes 1,600,000 accidents per year, 333,000 injuries per year, and 11 teen deaths every day (“DWI” 1). Driving while intoxicated seems like the most significant cause of accidents, while on the road, however, texting while driving is much more hazardous. Texting while driving is about 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving while intoxicated and is the same as driving after four beers (“DWI”
On top of that, these type of people use their cellphone, eat, don't wear seat belts, or drunk while they are driving. But these people don't realize that doing those minor thing can cause them severe pains or even deaths. There are millions of peoples are getting killed and injured every year because of car accident. I think if everyone use the traffic rules, all
Driving under the influence is one of the most dangerous thing you could do because, when you do you become impaired which makes your reaction time decrease, distorted perception, blurred vision, and aggressive behavior and so on. The madd.org says, “ In 2013,a total of 1,149 children 14 and younger were killed in a car crash due to driving under the influence.” Dosomthing.org says, “Every 51 minutes someone is killed in a drinking and driving car crash.” You don 't only endanger yourself when you drive under the influence you also endanger everyone else on the road. A man was driving while under the influence of pills. He was overconfident that he could drive fine and he ended up hitting someone because he didn 't stop in time and it killed him instantly. People think they are fine to drive under the influence all the time but the truth is you 're not. If you drive under the influence you will either wreck and kill yourself or someone else or you will go to
In addition, alcohol-related traffic accidents not only cause high death rates, but they cost society % 45 billion annually in hospital costs, rehabilitation expenses, and lost productivity (NHTSA 3). It also affects traffic safety, in that the amount of arrests of intoxicated drivers prevents the police from arresting other traffic violators. In 1995 more than 1.4 million people were arrested for driving under the influence, this totaled 10 percent of all arrests made in that year (Hingson 1).
Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories. Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the current and forecast weather conditions for safety reasons. Accidents have occurred due to flying in bad weather such as thunderstorms with low level wind sheer, lightning, hale, icing conditions and poor visibility. Poor weather, especially icing, can be very dangerous to flight, but most accidents can be avoided if the right precautions are taken to avoid potential bad weather situations.
Drunk driving can be very deadly. Yet many people drive while under the influence everyday. Drivers who are drunk are blamed for the loss of as many as twentyfive thousand lives in highway crashes each year and hundreds of thousands of severe injurys.
When you are not able to control the vehicle or make rational decisions can happen you are much more likely to get into a car accident. Accidents the normally involve other people. Car accidents can be often fatal or life changing. These accidents can involve other people and not just you. One such story is about a couple who just recently got engaged to each other. On their wedding day they were driving down the highway and they we getting on the on ramp and a drunk driver was entering on the exit ramp. The two cars collided head on and seriously injured the woman. The mad was killed in the crash. The drunk driver left the scene. Another story was about a kid and his friends. They were driving they stopped at a stop sign and from behind them was a drunk driver speeding and the driver did not stop and rear-ended them causing the jeep to flip over and kill the kid. HIs friends were able to make it. The drunk driver went home and went to bed without even realising what he
...ff. There are a few accidents that are reported occur during flight at medium or high altitude. There are a host of reasons for a plane crash but the primary reasons of airplane incidents include; human error, mechanical fault, harsh weather and sabotage.
Accidents is defined as an unplanned and undesired circumstances resulting in injuries, fatalities and loss or damage of property or assets(safety.ILO, 2011). Accidents are much deeper and beyond the older clichés, accounting to bad luck or fate, almighty’s work or simply being at wrong place at wrong time. But, in todays scientific world it is neither perceived as fate nor as deity’s work but a social problem resulting from a chain of undesired events. Preventing accidents is very arduous task without knowledge of accident phenomenon and the study in the field of accident phenomenon has been very diverse but a basic question has always been raised as why does accident occur? Can there be some common pattern to it? To unravel these mysteries and predict and prevent accidents several theories and model has been postulated in the past and recent times with each having some explanatory and predictive values.
The main form of reckless driving that a large amount of people are aware of is drinking and driving. When an individual is under the influence while driving, it can become detrimental in regards to other lives, not just to the individual behind the wheel because it impairs the driver 's ability to make quick and smart decisions. Within the last year there was a 15 year old boy who had lost his life due to driving under the influence. Somehow the boy had managed to veer off the road and wrap his car around a pole and into a Whataburger, not only taking his own life but also risking the lives of anyone who was inside the restaurant. The fact that he was drinking impaired his ability to drive, thus resulting in not having control of his vehicle. Another major issue of reckless driving is speeding. Many times drivers will reach dangerous speeds on the road as the result of racing. Once reaching the high speeds, the individual is risking the amount of control they have over the car. When lacking control of the vehicle the said person is
Drunk driving is a hot topic in today’s media, because it is very important not to drink and drive. Traffic accidents are mostly caused by people driving under the influence, between the age of 15 and 29, DUI is one of the main causes of death. Drinking has a bad side effect it could possible damage or even kill a liver The illegal crime may not involve actual driving of the vehicle, but rather may generally include being physically in control of a car while intoxicated even if the person charged is not driving. Alcohol affects you in a way that changes your decision, depth awareness as well as important motor skills required to drive safely. It’s easy for them to think that they are driving normal when truly they are not. When the police take sign you could be hit with a DUI/DWI. This is the best case situation. Getting into an accident your life could be lost as well as any others
It is important to follow all traffic laws to keep everyone safe on road. The amount of traffic accidents and losses drops significantly when people are obeying the rules on the road. Sometimes we forget what a big responsibility it is to drive carefully. Traffic laws are designed to protect you and other drivers on the streets. If we don’t follow them we are not only putting ourselves in risk but also other innocent people. By knowing the rules of the road, practicing good driving skills, you help play a vital role in preventing a crash. You will also be making the safety policies more effective. Many components play a major role in road safety including speed limits that are posted and making sure safety equipment is properly installed and used.
