“I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit”- Khalil Gibran (Think Exist). Islam and Catholicism are just two of the many religions that inhabit the world. While the two are similar in some aspects, it is the differences that clearly set them apart. “Muslim extremists” is one stereotype that clearly sets the two religions apart; rarely do you ever hear someone call a catholic an “extremist”.
Since the founding of these religions, tensions have escalated between them regarding their “ownership” or “rights to” what was once the “Holy Land”. “Holy Wars”, or “Jihad” according to Muslims, have been fought over who should control these lands. Since both groups began within this “Holy Land”, they continue to fight for their “homeland” or “birthplace” of their religion. Instead of merely agreeing or settling the feud, the groups decide to fight continually. When the World Trade Center towers were unexpectedly terrorized on September 11, 2001, tensions grew exponentially. The relationship between these religions will continue to be one of hostility until they can agree to resolve disputes between each other.
Islam was founded in 622 CE on the Arabian Peninsula following the death of Muhammad (Stopke). The beliefs of the Islamic religion include: oneness of God, belief in (the book, the prophets, angels, a Day of Judgment, reward & punishment in the hereafter), and that God is omniscient (Stopke). The original language of Islam was Arabic, and still is a major part of the religion today. There are approximately 1.3 billion believers in the religion of Islam worldwide. Islam believes in the Koran, the literal Word of God, ha...

...the religion, rarely are Catholics ever classified as “a radical” or “an extremist”. These religions will continue generating hatred for one another if they do not settle arguments over the “Holy Land” and live peaceably according to their holy texts. The stereotypes associated with these religions are based upon actions and words of followers.

...The Pope creates many sides to his argument, conveying the need not only to redeem but also to repay their debts to God for making them the chosen race. He provokes the temper of many by speaking of the horrific crimes the Muslims are apparently committing, using distinctly graphic images to engage his followers.
...their actions include killing others in a similar fashion to what happened in the Crusades. Another thing is that, those who recruit these radicals often use religion to foreplay and get their followers to literally do their bidding. Osama Bin Laden never blew himself up in the name of God yet he tells others to do it. From that, there is a similar relationship between some of the Pope’s motives and terrorists today. There is also a use of the word Crusade for many invasions of countries. Vladmir Putin even stated that Operation Odyssey Dawn was similar to "reminiscent of a medieval call for a crusade.” (Russia’s Medev). This signifies that the Crusades and Overall, it’s important to understand that history will repeat itself in the same way but in a different form. **work on)
Judaism is deeply ingrained in the catholic tradition. It is part of our history. If you think about it the first half of the catholic history is the faith of judaism. We are essentially the jewish community that aren’t waiting for the messiah to come to earth. Christianity emerged from judaism. How we celebrate mass, where we got our traditions, and how we celebrate those traditions and events have some parallels to the Jewish faith. These are important to understand in order to understand our own faith of catholicism.
Judaism and Islam are two major world religions. They are widely followed throughout the world. These two religions have a long a delicate past that has come to describe their future.

In the seventh century, a new faith arose in the Middle East known as the Islamic religion. Just like Christianity and Judaism, the Islamic religion believed in one God known as Allah. The founder of Islam was a very unique individual known as Mohammad. Mohammad had an amazing spiritual experience that transformed his life and made a great impact in history. He experienced visions and revelations from Allah which he accepted as messages. Mohammed
Christianity has been in America since the Colonial Era (1600’s - 1700’s), and for over three centuries has dominated and deeply engrained itself into American Society . Islam, however, has only been introduced recently, and this has caused Islamic Believers (or Muslims) residing in America to be misinterpreted. After the September 11 bombings in 2001, there was a huge hatred for Muslims as they were interpreted as a religion that promotes destruction in the name of ‘Jihad’, or as it is often mistranslated as ‘Holy war’ . Although, the meaning of ‘Jihad’ is much wider than just ‘Holy war’, it is an internal struggle, within each Muslim, “…to be a good Muslim as well as advance the cause of Islam.” The Western understanding of ‘jihad’ however has been twisted to become related to terrorism. Whereas, Christians claim to promote the qualities of hard-work, honesty and moderation, and are therefore highly thought of in American Society, not only because of their supposed all encompassing teachings, but also because of their dominance as a religion in the Western World.
The article, Shadow of a Bloody Past, written by Tom Holland, explains the relationship between the recent events concerning ISIS & Islamic radical groups, and the faith’s long-lasting feud with sinister disbelievers of the Koran’s holy message, the Christians (and more broadly the entirety of Western Civilization itself). Holland begins by using a direct quote from Osama bin Laden, in which he states “that the people of Islam have always suffered from aggression, iniquity and injustice imposed on them by the Zionist-Crusader alliance.” In this quote, he addresses the entirety of people against his people’s message as either ‘Zionist’ (Jewish, in support of Israel becoming a state in the late 1940s) or ‘Crusader’, which we know to be
Throughout history it is evident that many religions have been tried, tested, and, for some, radically changed. Many religions have gone through periods of time in which the way they were run or enforced underwent changes in practice and leadership. In many cases disagreements and differing outlooks among members of certain religions were to blame for these changes. Christianity and Islam are two examples of religions that have experienced changes over the course of their existence. While these religions seem to have little in common at first glance, both have strikingly similar pasts that consist of radical splits due to disagreements among members of the Christian and Islamic churches, resulting in new branches within each religion.
Islam is a religion that is based on the submission oneself to the will of God, who is called Allah. Muslims are the people believe in that, regardless of their culture, background or ethnicity. It is believed that God’s prophets brought a message for the people to worship one God without intermediaries and that prophet Muhammad was the end of G...
Orthodox militiaman rapes and kills innocent Muslim civilians,. acts are not used to stereotype an entire faith. " How many times is it heard that a Christian, Jew, or any other majority robbed a bank or was involved in a mass murder? Very few, which is ironic because once. a Muslim does such perils, it is blamed on the faith as a whole and not.
Yet this discussion should not end by recalling the broad, if only tacit, role of religion in bringing about violence, but should recall the role of religious faith in promoting love between diverse peoples. Fundamental to the Church’s centuries-old teachings is the importance of humanity’s dignity a sons and daughters of the Creator. Violence, if even in part motivated by religion, contradicts what St. John taught us about God – “God is love” – a divine love that humanity is called to mirror and extend.
Starting from one of the very first holy wars, the Crusades are a prime example of this disuniting force of religion. Stemming from Pope Urban II’s rallying cry for soldiers to reclaim the Holy Land, this was a series of religious wars launched by Christian states of Europe against the Muslims. Thousands of men, both young and old, were motivated by promises of wealth, religious salvation, and chivalry to fight this religious battle against the Muslims. Despite the nobility, these wars had severe consequences between Christian and Islamic believers. In the article “The Crusades” by W. Robert Godfrey, he expresses, “Hundreds of thousands died, and the terrible massacre in Jerusalem by the crusaders has seriously damaged the reputation of Christianity among Muslims ever since.” This major event in history created tension between Christians and Muslim faiths. As one of the bloodiest wars in history, this conflict between the Muslims and the Christians represents how religion ruptures peace between two segregated sides.
Islam and Christianity seem to have very little in common; however, the two actually show strong likeness, principally in the central areas. Both Muslims and Christians are monotheists, believing in one God. While both believe in the same God, He is called by two completely different names. He is referred to as "Allah" by Muslims and "God" by Christians. Although Islam and Christianity are two different religions, their similarities in beliefs and prayers make them comparable in many aspects.
Islam is often viewed as a religious tradition which originates from the seventh century. An important part of Islam is based on the prophet Muhammad, and the great revelations in which he received from God, according to the Quran. However, it is most important to realize that Muslims do not view Islam as a new religion. Muslims believe that Allah is the same God who revealed himself to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Therefore, Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all followers of the same living God. Muslims believe that the Quran is the final and complete revelation of God to all people. It is not easy for some people to accept the fact that God exists when there have been so many throughout history. You cannot also say if someone’s religion is right or wrong or the God they believe in is a “Supreme” god. Why Islam and not Christianity? Why Hinduism and not Judaism? Every one of them different and they vary from one another; they have different rules and are all passionate about their belief. But the fact still remains that there is one who is above all and he is God. God is Omnipresent, omnipotent, and Benevolent.
