Lindsay Alanson is a 15-year experienced professional that has moved up the hospitality ranks through her hard work and effective management style. One of the best programs developed by Lindsay in the past has been an initiative to increase motivation for the lower paid employees. Lindsay has now been recruited by Grand Chancellor Resort to take on the challenge of lowering the employees’ 20% retention rate as the quick turnover of employees is costing the resort an excess amount of money. Not only would the resort like to cut the cost of the hiring process but also maintain the reputation of best places to work as they were finalist in the best places to work awards in 2006.

In spite of having numerous structures in place to ensure a luxurious guest experience, the Oberoi Vanayvilas (OV) failed to provide a quality service to its hotel guest. To recover from this service failure, we recommend OV to sincerely apologize and ‘offer refund for the third night and a credit for the two nights for a future stay with additional hotel perks tobe used at OV within a year’ to the impacted guest. Main drivers for our recommendation are to convey a message that Oberoi sincerely cares about the customer inconvenience and wants its guest to revisit the hotel to win over the customer by its exemplary quality service.

Hospitality is the relation between the guest and host, or the act or the practice of being hospitable. This includes the reception, entertainment and generally looking after the guests, visitors or strangers. The word hospitality is derived from the Latin hospes which means “host”, “guest”, or “stranger”. Hospes is formed from hostis which means stranger. Today in many areas hospitality has developed in various ways, no two ways of hospitality are the same such as in India the term atithi devo bhava is used and guest is considered god like and we are told to respect them as such by touching their feet, in other countries such as the western people prefer a handshake and hospitality is more formal. This project has given me a new insight into the types of technology that are emerging to improve not only the experience of the guest but also the employees in this industry and their employers. This is why I have chosen five technologies which vary in functioning and development the technologies are Global Positioning Sys...
The reason I chose the Hotel Management industry is because it is a career path that I have always been interested in and curious about. It is a fast growing widespread global industry. I’ve always wanted an exciting career, which would integrate my business and creative skills in a way, which would be more energetic, active and fun than most orthodox and boring office desk jobs. I also desired to work in an industry, which I was fervent about. For my first year Applied study period I had the opportunity to work at The Taj hotels, resorts and palaces, India and my experience there established many of my principles of how the hotel industry operated. Despite my refining on the job experience, that allowed me to explore the various departments and requirements of the everyday job, I had never elaborately researched the prospects of working and skills and requirements required in the Hotel Management industry; and this Is exactly what I aim to accomplish with this report.

The Hotel industry has become very important in the past years due to immense traveling and growth of international business. The Hotel industry not only plays an important role in the life of people but as well as the economy of the country. I spent an hour of my day relaxing in the lobby at the Fontainebleau resort in Miami, while on vacation with my family visiting from out of state. It was my first time staying at the resort so I was eager to check it out, after seeing such great reviews on Yelp and hearing great things from friends who have been there in the past. The employees working at the resort were very welcoming, professional and willing to go above and beyond to help their guests. The check-in process was very quick due to having
